As you aware how on Dragonslayer the main characters are gonna work on humans and dragons relationship Which was also address in TDG.
Okay a lot of people are fearing this will turn into HTTYD but everyone should chill out about it. Not every human and dragon interaction becomes HTTYD. In fact not everything revolves about HTTYD. Here are some examples of non HTTYD human and dragon coexistence.
Spoilers from these series.
Okay in the best outcome I could think of dragons and scavengers finally coexisting together it would be like Tooth and Claw and The Dragon Price. Scavengers having back their own society only in a more positive light than in Tooth and Claw. While dragons forever being the most power creatures. A top of the food chain. Just like The Dragon Prince.
Chill out not everything will be like HTTYD.
I know your'e worried that dragons hunters will exist and humans will try to destroy them in order to take back the world. But isnt that suppouse to be the main conflict? Dragons will fight back if that were to happen. They will never let them be train, saddle them, hunt them down, etc.

Spoilers from these series.
Fairy Tail
The relationship between humans and dragons started pretty much like WOF. Dragons considered humans nothing but food. Until a dragon saw humans equal as them and thats when the dragon civil war started. The dragons starting training the humans to use dragon like magic. Yeah the dragons were the one training the humans. Of course later everything went downhill but the humans never domesticate the dragons.
Eragon
In Eragon world dragons form an alliance with elves and later humans to keep peace between the races. This system is know as the rider system. The dragons agree to give some of their eggs so they can be train. But the dragons still live in the wild. The dragons of riders are not really domesticated. They rights and voice of opinions in case problems arise. By the end of the series while some of the eggs are given to different races is also mentioned that some eggs were meant to be in the wild since dragons needed to form their own society outside the rider system.
The Dragon Prince
This another major example. In TDP dragons are great power creature respected by the elves. Dragons can speak and think, The dragon power is so strong that they could easily destroy the elves if they wanted to. The series is about a long lasting war between humans and elves with the dragons on the side of the elves. By the last season they gonna start working for a better relationship between the elves, dragons and humans. But does that mean humans will start training the dragons? No. Dragons are still the most powerful creatures. Is impossible for humans to train them.
Tooth and Claw by Jo Walton
This is a Victorian like novel only the protagonist are dragons. The novel addresses that humans exist in this world. The novel states that humans and dragons have their own separated society since they don’t really get along well. The novel really never explores this since the story is focused more on a dragon family. But yet another example humans and dragons on the same world but dragons are not trained.
Lazyscales by D.M. Gilmore
Okay this series isn’t really as popular as others. Since is more easy to find it on ebooks But the story focus on the boy who got turn into a dragon. As the story progresses more humans are turn into dragons. This due a spell a dragon made years ago when dragons were being hunt down to extinction. The story focus how this boy and the other human turn dragons must adjust to their new way of life. While the boy and human society are trying to find a way to have good way to coexist as good as possible.
