Here are my thoughts.
I really like how Graystripe swooped in and took charge, he seems like a great temp leader. I know he was a bit of a tool in Fire and Ice, and idk if his mentorship of Brackenfur actually counts, since he wasn't around for most of it, but he has grown and matured a lot since then, and has shown time and again that he's a loyal ThunderClan warrior, who always tries to do his best for those he cares about, and he's also very brave and a great fighter. I know he's old, but it's only temp leader, and he seems like the best cat for the job right now imo.
The mouse bone getting stuck in Icewing's mouth sounded terrifying, but it was an interesting new reason to visit the medicine cats' den.
I really like the fact that they remembered that Beetlewhisker was her son, and I really liked her in that scene, it was good to see her get a bit more characterization.
What happened to the unique insults that the clans used to have? It seems like everyone calls everyone mousebrains.
Tree is even more awesome in this book, and he makes a good point about the individuality of the cats and their happiness mattering more than the rules, however, it's not that simple, cats outside of Bristlefrost and Rootspring might get hurt as a result of this or something.
Speaking of Bristle and Root, I predict that Tree and Violetshine will move to ThunderClan with Rootspring, and then Violetshine will be in the same clan as Twigbranch again.
I can't see Needleclaw leaving ShadowClan, so I think she will stay with Hawkwing so he still has some family left.
It was interesting how Shadowsight and Bristlefrost dreamt their way into the DF, embarassingly, up until this point, I didn't even realize that they're both kits of former DF trainees. Like, I know that Ivypool is Bristlefrost's mom, and Tigerheart is Shadowsight's dad, and they trained in the DF, but I never really thought of it I guess, until they dreamt their way into the DF.
Poor Shadowsight is always getting wrecked, but thankfully, he always manages to survive, he must be comprised of Nokia phones or something lol.
Three cats from different clans (Shadow, Sky, and River) worked together to save a ThunderClan cat, that is nice but it's a bit disappointing that WindClan is left out.
I love how Rootspring keeps referring to Shadowsight as his friend, and how worried he is about him, I hope their friendship continues and doesn't just fade away like Jayfeather's with Poppyfrost and Cinderheart.
Tigerheart and Lionblaze were both kind of jerks, but it's also really understandable, and a lot of times, fear comes out as anger, I still really like both of these characters, in fact, I like Tigerheart even more after this.
It's cool that all three of them went to the DF, and Shadowsight and Bristlefrost went together.
Honestly, I think this might be my favorite cast of POV characters, I like how none of them are siblings, so there's not really an automatic closeness or rivalry between two of them, in the next arc, none of the POV characters are siblings either, and I'm looking forward to that.
Anyway, back to these POV characters, they are all super likable to me, unlike previous POVs characters who I mostly were neutral on or kind of disliked, I really like all of these POV characters, as much as I don't really like the surrounding plot around them.
I think this book was my favorite out of TBC so far, but I hate how Ashfur is so powerful he is destroying the whole DF! I hope it will be revealed in the next book, that he's not the ring leader, I doubt it, but it would make me be a lot less annoyed by this whole arc.
Over all, I rate this book an 8.5/10.
