I honestly love the concept/theme but the song was a little too intense at times.
So here's a fitting meme to lighten the mood a bit:

I mean, there's a few really cool shots, but I can't for the life of me figure out what the overall goal and style was meant to be. I don't understand if the video was attempting to be darkly humorous (Mapleshade taking a pratfall when trying to kill Ravenwing and Appledusk using Reedshine like a shield), trying to portray her as becoming kind of an elemental creature (the scenes with her among the snakes and her body distorting), or if there's an attempt to go for a Western theme(the muddy camouflage). I actually like a lot of these individual sequences, but as a cohesive whole it doesn't do it for me. I laughed at Mapleshade taking a pratfall, I was impressed at the animalistic impressions when she's surrounded by snakes, and I thought that the Western revenge vibe with the mud was cool. But all of those things together just did not mesh well, with the only real cohesive theme being "desert". Which is alright, I guess, but it feels tacked on if the only thing that is desert-like are the backgrounds and the adders becoming rattlesnakes.
This is a case where the individual parts are greater than the sum thereof.

Interesting, I see what u mean here but I interpreted the overall goal trying to reflect the psychology of Mapleshade, the feelings of both grief and anger in her. The wild west theme and revenge is one thing, and other concepts that I think of with the wild west theme is being lonesome, an outcast/outlaw, and embracing the wild side. The mud is a symbol of her bloodlust/revenge, while the cleansing water is her grief, as its where her kits died. Her falling off, mud/blood-stained, after that rampage into a body of water kinda has a poetic finality to it, as ultimately her anger and revenge is driven by grief. I really loved the scene where the lyrics was about "oxygen" and she was in the water with her kits, then in a cloudy landscape hoping for some form of understanding from the cats who hurt her. The thunderstorm was like, her grief (water) turned into rage (thunder). It's an 8 hour MAP so definitely some of the scenes could've been out together more smoothly, and some concepts fleshed more. I think the cowboy theme as it relates to Mapleshade is quite abstracted and could be more well-defined but. it's cowboys. YEEEEEEEEHAW.

The fact that this is an 8 hour map is impressive. The animation is great, the editing adds to it, and the scenes feel more engaging in a way. The liberties and symbolism is interesting too. Great song too, I kinda give it an 8 out of 10.

I like the desert aesthetic a lot. Personally I don't think it needed to be Mapleshade (especially with all the content with her already) but the way her story was told in this map was interesting. The participants did a good job and the song is cool.
