Do you think she has no personality other than being a romantic, or is there more to her than that?

There's absolutely more to her. She's eager, enthusiastic, and dedicated to her Clan and genuinely wants what's best for it. So much so that her loyalty was utilized against her by Ashfur, who turned her into his lackey once he realized he could manipulate her into doing what he wanted under the guise of helping ThunderClan.
I think people consider her "bland" because in comparison to Rootspring and Shadowsight, or even other former povs for that matter, she's more "normal". She doesn't have any special powers, abilities, or anything like that. She's just an average cat.

I personally find protagonists like her bland. They're just so painfully average it's hard feeling a connection to them. I'm gonna be blunt- i prefer characters with more "colorful" personalities.
Homever, at best, she's mature about forbbiden romance.

No.
1. She is competent and confident. Starts of as rather proud and uptight but after finding out about the imposter is humbled. She was once lofty and aloof towards Rootpaw but has grown to open her heart and be honest with him. Also, although capable, she doesn't want deputyship as evidenced by her visible relief of being replaced by Lionblaze.
2. She is very loyal and devoted to her Clan and the warrior code.
3. She is romantic, also sweet and caring to Rootspring.
4. She is sensitive, especially when it does come to romance.
5. She is very eager and quick to be useful and helpful.
6. She is kind and compassionate to Spotfur.
7. She is sensible and reasonable, often the cat to be explaining the current situation, as what she did to Flipclaw and Graystripe.
8. She is stubborn and determined, almost to the point of being naïve and narrow-minded, as seen when she wants to enter the Dark Forest.

i wish she had more of a darkstripe type beat as a sycophantic imposter follower, and was punished more often than she actually is. she was interesting near the start of the arc because she had the potential to be that, but now she's all 'ooOoohhh rootspring' bc the erin hunter 'we gotta either make this woman's arc about a man or just straight up kill her' instinct kicked in

I thought she would have been cooler as an Anti - Hero who genuinely believed what Ashfur was doing was right. But I don't dislike her, she was focused on Rootspring a lot in the latest book, but she also did a lot of other, interesting stuff in the other books. And even though I don't like her relationship with Rootspring, the authors are handling it quite well.

Nah, Bristlefrost has her own remarkable personality traits that get overshadowed by her romance with Rootspring. It's pretty much all what Rockfoot said above.

For me, she's bland at best, grating at worst

Honestly, I don't find her any more bland than many of the protagonists who came before her. Though, she might seem a bit more bland in comparison to Shadowsight and Rootspring because with their powers, they have an even deeper connection to the plot than she does, but even with that, I still find her POV interesting to read.

If I try I can find more to her personality. But at first glance she's kind of boring, and the only reason I liked her POV was probably because I wanted to know what Ashfur was doing.
