Russetfur and her patrol watching a literal kit suffer in a fox trap just because he wasn't Clanborn. Still makes me sick to this day Unless I'm mistaken, the warrior code does not protect outsiders, including kits. So them not helping the kit, while unjustifiable, is completely understandable in my opinion. Technically they weren't breaking the code. Warrior Code rule #12: "No warrior can neglect a kit in pain or danger, even if the kit is from a different Clan." Notice how it implies that only Clan kits matter. Warrior Code rule #14: "An honorable warrior does not need to kill other cats to win their battles, unless they are outside the warrior code or if it is necessary for self-defense." The first line might make you think that it protects outsiders from murder (unless it is necessary), it really doesn't because of the second line that goes, "unless they are outside of the warrior code". While I'm not saying the non-Clanborne cats are inferior, such are the teachings of the Clans, and ideas are hold onto fiercely for a lot of cats, especially ones from older generations. (I recall Mousefur casually saying to Firestar that he would never truly understand the warrior code or loyalty at one point.) Since Berrykit wasn't Clanborne and therefore could be seen as an impurity, the way I see it, from the way the code is structured, Russetfur and the patrol didn't break the code by not helping the kit. To each their own interpretation though. (On the slightly less gloomy side, they didn't physically intervene and kill or torture him. They just "let him be". As horrible as it was, it could very easily have been worse.) The question was what is the cruelest/stupidest thing ever done in the series. What Russetfur (also Oakfur and Cedarheart) did, may not have been "breaking the code" but it is still extremely cruel. There is more to the code when it comes to morality and doing what's right, and not being cruel like watching a helpless kit struggle in a fox trap regardless of where that kit came from.

Yeah, if there's anything this series likes to hammer in every arc, it's that the code isn't everything. Hollyleaf shattered because she had so much faith in the warrior code, only to learn that she wasn't even supposed to exist. And look at Firestar! He broke the code constantly because he always tried to do the tried thing. If the rules interferes with showing some basic decency like saving someone's life, regardless of where they're from, then ideally, you should break them! Like I said earlier, morality usually (or at least should) overrides duty.

The Gorsepaw's one's pretty cruel, and Bramblestar being a wimp to Tigerstar so wouldn't treat Sunrise, and ThunderClan being prejudiced towards Bramblekit and Tawnykit. Just my opinion, but since they were the children of Tigerstar himself, I fully understand their "suspicions" towards Bramblekit and Tawnykit. As the saying goes, like father like son. (Or like father like daughter, as well.) But they were still kits, and they didn't deserve to be stared at, whispered at like that. Just my opinion, though

(Or like father like daughter, as well.) But they were still kits, and they didn't deserve to be stared at, whispered at like that. Just my opinion, though Not to mention they barely knew anything about their father until he plotted to slaughter their clan with a pack of dogs. Fireheart treated poor Bramblepaw like he was going to plot his murder in the future until he finally realized how hypocritical he was to judge someone by how they were born.
