Star-Crossed

One is a half-clan cat that is desperate to prove themselves to their doubtful clan mates and the other is the kit of the leader, born in the spotlight but longing to just be able to be themselves. Playing, training, and talking with one another allows them to grow quite close... and end up falling in love. As they grow older, their love becomes more than just a crush and settles into a deep, true love. This puts them in grave danger however, due to the deep war between their clans. If their clan mates learned of their forbidden relationship, they would be killed, without trial. The situation is made more dire when the molly finds out she's pregnant. Lilacshade
Three sunrises had passed since the little group had left the clans. Not one of the members had spoken much during these first few days. Each just padding on after the other. Hazelwish hadn't left her side since the decision for her and Foxsmoke to join them on their journey. While she was thankful for her friends presence, she couldn't help but feel the absence of Blazethorn at her side. He had taken it pretty hard that their two clanmates would uproot their entire world to follow them to Starclan knows where. Her, on the other hand, felt a strange sense of relief to know that the two clanmates they trusted most were joining them.
Now, as they padded on, she felt an awful ache in her paws and a heaviness in her chest. They had moved quickly and only stopped for small breaks, even moving throughout the night to keep distance between them and any followers. As they strode on now, the sun starting to set for the fourth time since the beginning of their journey, she couldn't help but wonder how her mother was reacting. Froststar had never been one to let something so big go, and her daughter disappearing would be enough to cause a war. Yet, as much as she loved her daughter, the Dayclan leader would have killed her without a second thought for her sins.
The loud rumble of her belly broke her from her thoughts and the hungry queen felt her ears grow warm with embarrassment. She flickered her blue eyes up to look at the faces of her traveling partners, a look of apology in her gaze. Her usually groomed and sleek white and light blue tipped fur was ruffled and slightly dirty after traveling over a dusty field where a twoleg monster roamed. •❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅• Foxsmoke As the sun started to go down, Foxsmoke couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. With the fading sunshine, also came the relief from the heat. It'd been quite a warm day, one of the warmest during this green-leaf. Unfortunately for the Nightclan tom, unlike his traveling companions, he had long and thick fur. While in the moons of leaf-bare it kept him warm, it also made the green-leaf moons a struggle.
Green eyes narrowed as he walked behind the rest of the group, tail flicking behind him. Foxsmoke focused most of his attention on their surroundings as he made sure nothing came at them from behind. He would be first to throw himself into any battle to protect not only Blazethorn, but his mate and her clanmate as well. Ears flickered as a rumble sounded in front of him only to be followed by an embarrassed and apologetic look from Lilacshade. The poor queen was clearly tired and hungry. "Maybe we should find a place to rest for a few sunrises. Get some food in our stomachs and rest our aching paws. What do we say.?" Within the range of eyesight Foxsmoke could see some trees in the distance. A hint of running water touched his senses as he opened his maw to scent the air. •❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•
Froststar
A low deep growl seemed to echo through the open air as a group of felines trudged through the land. A white and gray molly stood at the head of the patrol, fur bristling and tail lashing. She stood with her head tall, black-lined ears flickering as they came to a halt. For a moment she stood still as stone, sharp blue eyes narrowing as she scanned the slope before them. Her warriors had reached the border between them and Nightclan. What lay before them was a land of shadows and trees. While her clan was use to open air, they were not afraid of the darkness before them. With a flick of her tail, she signaled to her warriors to move forward, diving into the forest before them.
Three sunrises ago, her daughter and her friend had gone missing. Two warriors, vanishing without a sign. They had followed the scent of the two molly's with one of their best trackers, only to fall short at the border to Nightclan. The growl grew louder as Dayclan moved quicker, heading straight for their enemies camp. Froststar had made her decision when Lilacshade and Hazelwish had not returned by dawn. She had to be sure that the foul warriors of her rival clan had not taken her two warriors prisoner. The screech of an alarmed bird, brought her attention back to her clanmates. The command came as a snarl from the leader's maw. "Pay attention! Fan out! We will find them!"
•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅• Nightseeker Slinking low in the shadows, Nightseeker had taken the apprentice, Moonpaw, for a little bit of training. Three sunrises ago, Nightclan had discovered the missing toms, Foxsmoke and Blazethorn. After searching for them, a patrol had come to a halt at the Dayclan border. While Juniperfur had insisted they confront Dayclan over the missing warriors, Nettlestar had encouraged them to wait. After all, it wasn't unlike the two warriors to venture off on their own. They had been explorers from the moment they had been born.
The alarm call of a sparrow froze Nightseeker in her steps and her eyes flashed with surprise. Amber eyes searched around her as she opened her maw to scent the air. When an alarming and growing scent of Dayclan reached her senses, the black and white warrior turned and nudged Moonpaw quickly towards the camp. "Hurry!" The hiss was low and urgent. "Get Nettlestar. Tell them Froststar and her warriors are coming. And they are moving fast!" Without a second glance at the apprentice, the molly turned and worked her way towards the approaching patrol, keeping to the shadows as to not be seen.
•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅• Flamepaw Trudging along after Froststar and her daughter Creekthroat, Flamepaw couldn't help but feel determination boiling under his skin. He had been the first to notice that his mentor, Hazelwish and Froststar's daughter, Lilacshade were missing. After the sun had risen in the sky and then fallen once more without a glimpse of his mentor, the young apprentice had approached the leader and deputy and reported the absence of Hazelwish. Soon after, the clan had discovered that Lilacshade was missing as well.
After following the molly's scent to the border, Froststar had made the decision to go back to camp and discuss what should be done next with her senior warriors. Two sunrises later, they had launched into their plan to invade Nightclan territory in search of their lost clanmates. Now, as they worked their way through the shadows of the forest, the little orange and white tom couldn't help but feel leery. The thick scent of their rival clan seemed to hang in the branches above them, washing over his own clans scent. little blu ♥

Blazethorn tom ; former nightclan ; warrior
To say the tom was in a bad mood would be... a bit of an understatement. The guilt and pressure he felt weighing on his shoulders day and night hadn't allowed him any moment of peace or rest. So he was silent and moody and almost always scouting ahead, worried about any danger befalling the group as they moved so quickly. Blazethorn weaved through the thin copse of trees that led into deeper forest, far enough away from the other three that he'd couldn't see them but if they made sounds of distress he could turn and run to them. The shade was a relief against his coat, familiar and soothing - though little calmed his frayed nerves. His green eyes swept the grass before him, his mouth open to catch any scents that could lead to a decent meal. The stale scent of squirrel and bird came to him, along with the fresher scent of the shrew. The prey was small but it would help fill a stomach. On silent paws, he slipped through the shadows, following the trail the tiny rodent had left behind. He spotted the grayish-brown creature sitting beside a clump of ferns and only paused a moment to crouch before pouncing and swiftly killing the prey. Blazethorn silently thanked Starclan for the meal, before burying his catch. The sun was going down and they'd probably stop soon.
The nighttime - usually his favorite time of day - had become something he dreaded. They were more likely to stop when night fell, which meant Blazethorn had to face the group. The cats who'd given up their safety and their homes... and Lilacshade seemed perfectly fine with their friends giving up their lives for them. The bengal tom just... couldn't agree. All he'd ever wanted was to feel safe and to have a place that really felt like home, Foxsmoke and Hazelwish had both had that. Lilacshade had had that! Before the tom had stumbled into their lives and pulled them into his turmoil. Now there were going to be kits... what kind of life could he give them? His chest tightened until it felt like he couldn't breathe. The tom had to stop and sit on shaky legs, his breath coming in short bursts as he struggled to pull air into his lungs. What kind of protection could he offer his family? What if something happened to one of his kits? Or Lilacshade? Or their friends? Foxsmoke? Pain radiated in his head and stomach, nausea roiling around until he knew he was going to be ill. Blazethorn heaved into the bushes, his sides shuddering as he lost control of his breath. The taste of bile lingered on his tongue as he staggered off to the side, eyes wide and glowing with panic.
Collapsing onto the ground, Blazethorn was overrun by his panicked thoughts, unable to calm himself down. He tried to keep pulling oxygen into his mouth, desperate as he panted, but he wasn't always successful. His pelt felt like it was on fire, his paw pads growing wet as he began to sweat. His heartbeat was roaring in his ears, beating so loud and fast that he thought it might explode but even the thunder of his pulse couldn't block out his swirling thoughts. ❖ [ panic ] ❖ [ farther somewhere ] ❖
Hazelwish she-cat ; former dayclan ; warrior
Hazelwish padded loyally by her best friend's side, peeking over to check on her every now and again. It still amazed her to think that Lilacshade was pregnant, part of her still felt like a few moons ago they were still apprentices, chasing butterflies in the meadow together. Her icy blue gaze flickered to the horizon, catching the last few rays of sun that came as the sky was streaked with red and purple. It was a pretty sight but the molly wasn't really feeling up to appreciating it. Her shoulders and legs ached - not to mention her paws - and her throat was so dry it was beginning to hurt every time she tried to swallow. Still, complaining wasn't on the agenda, especially since there could potentially be Nightclan or Dayclan cats on their trail.
Her ears perked right up when Lilacshade's stomach rumbled, a flash of amusement touching her face in an attempt to lighten the mood. "Your stomach has stated it's case. Foxsmoke's right, we should find someplace to rest," she rasped, trying to repress a cough. The brown and white molly nudged her friend good-naturedly before peering towards the trees where Blazethorn had disappeared. "Should we head in that direction, or just send someone in to get him?" Hazelwish asked, settling on the other side of Lilacshade, so she was protected from the other side. She wouldn't let anything happen to her friend and the unborn kits she carried. She'd fight tooth and claw to keep them safe. Even though she had a sister back home, Poppycloud had always been quiet and distant. They still cared for one another but Hazelwish had grown up with Lilacshade by her side. They'd done everything together, learned to hunt and fight, talked about all their hopes and dreams, got into mischief, shared their secrets... well, Hazelwish supposed her friend had kept a pretty big secret from her. It still hurt to think about so she didn't analyze the thought too closely. They were both here now and that's what mattered.

Nettlestar tom ; nightclan ; leader
The red-brown tom had been watching his deputy pace divots into the camp floor. He could understand her concern, seeing as her son was currently missing. He'd sent out patrols to try and track down the scent of Foxsmoke... and Blazethorn, only to find that they disappeared at the edge of the border with Dayclan scents attached. Juniperfur had been insisting that the other clan had something to do with the disappearance of her son and many of the clan believed Blazethorn had done something nefarious to the warrior. As much as Nettlestar didn't particularly hold love for the half-clan warrior - he wasn't blind. Foxsmoke and Blazethorn were thicker than thieves, closer than brothers, much to Juniperfur's distaste. They were most likely off getting into some mischief together... though the Dayclan scents were suspicious. "Juniperfur, stop pacing. You're giving me a headache-" Nettlestar began, his gaze sharp as he peered down at his longhaired second in command. He was cut off by young Moonpaw bursting into camp. The tiny apprentice appeared to be shaking, her green eyes wide as she peered up at him urgently. "F-Froststar! She brought her warriors and they're coming, fast!" she called out, her tone full of alarm. The Nightclan leader immediately leaped down from his perch and padded towards the apprentice, his shoulder fur bristling. "Is Nightseeker heading to meet them?" he asked, his tone frighteningly calm, though he did brush his chin across the little molly's head, taking the moment to soothe her. At Moonpaw's nod, he turned to Juniperfur, who was on his heels. "Gather a patrol. We need to face them before they make it to camp," he growled before rushing from the camp, determined to help Nightseeker face Froststar head-on. ❖ [ some peeps ] ❖ [ near Nightclan camp ] ❖
Juniperfur she-cat ; nightclan ; deputy
Foxsmoke was gone. Her son was gone. Blazethorn was gone too. Guilt and panic warred with fear and anger. She wanted to be out there, searching for her missing kit. If those Dayclan warriors had harmed a hair on her son's pelt she would skin them alive. Her claws flexed out of her paws as she turned and began pacing back the other way, green eyes narrowed. Foxsmoke was such a good warrior and he probably wouldn't have gotten into nearly as much trouble if he didn't insist on hanging out with that Blazethorn. Her white-tipped tail lashed from side to side as her paws made quick work of eating up the clearing. Her other clan mates had made the wise decision to stay out of her way - sensing the angry mama bear shimmering under the surface. Nettlestar's words halted her in her tracks and she'd turned to throw a few barbed words his way when the proud tom's eyes locked on something beyond her. She turned and found her son's apprentice shaking like a leaf a few fox-lengths from the entrance of the camp. Hadn't she been out with Nightseeker? Her black-furred friend was honestly one of the only felines keeping Juniperfur sane these past few days. She listened anxiously to Moonpaw's words, bearing her teeth in a grimace. Let Froststar come to her, she'd rip her ears right off! Especially if her filthy warriors had anything to do with Foxsmoke's disappearance! "Kestrelstrike, Flickerpool, Icygaze, Puddlespots, Cloudheart, Dovepaw, Weaselpaw,to me!" Juniperfur ordered her clan mates, not wanting to be left behind as her leader rushed out of the camp. She watched in impatient silence as the cats gathered. "Moonpaw, you come too," she said as an afterthought, peering at the silver tabby. Then, with a flick of her tail, the deputy led her patrol out of camp and into the dense forest. Shadows immediately surrounded the group, giving them a definite edge, since this was their home turf and what they were accustomed to. She kept a fast pace, catching sight of Nettlestar just ahead of her. The run through the territory wasn't a pleasant one, tensions were high amongst the clan and the sound of untrained Dayclan paws could be heard in the forest. They paused beside Nightseeker as Froststar appeared to be threatening the black molly. Juniperfur snarled and brushed forward to defend her friend but Nettlestar smoothly inserted himself. "You're on our territory. What is the meaning of this Froststar?" he demanded, an edge to his cool tone. ❖ [ bunch of cats ] ❖ [ near Nightclan camp ] ❖
Creekthroat she-cat ; dayclan ; warrior
The petite cream and brown molly padded silently at her mother's side, ever Froststar's loyal shadow. Creekthoat had always been a pragmatic individual. She never made time for playing games or having fun, not when there was work to be done. That made her a near-perfect warrior, an obedient pawn for her mother to use and control - not that Creekthroat minded. She was a rules girl, who lived to follow orders and provide for her clan. Romance and to an extent friendship didn't really compute in her brain. The molly could be friendly enough to her clan-mates but she had never formed the connections that Lilacshade had. She'd watched her sister blossom in her friendship with Hazelwish with absolute confusion. Maybe she should have been jealous or hurt that her sister felt closer to another she-cat but Creekthroat had merely been confused by how deeply they seemed to care for one another. What did it feel like? To depend on someone, to feel so deeply for another that you always wanted to be around them? She believed she loved her mother and sister but in a practical distant way. She'd never been good with emotions.
Which, she supposed, is why she'd been so calm the last three sunrises. Her mother had been beside herself with anger and worry for Lilacshade but Creekthroat had merely been curious as to where her sister could have gone. Part of her was concerned, but she refused to let it consume her. That could lead to reckless, unnecessary behavior. Her greenish-blue eyes, much more like her father's than her mother's, warily searched the undergrowth before her. Nightclan territory was dense and difficult to maneuver in. Nothing like the open meadows and fields she was used to. Why would cats willingly choose to stay in a place like this... that was beyond her comprehension. Still, she obeyed her mother and tried to place her paws more carefully as they drew closer towards the heart of Nightclan territory. Her head snapped up when a black cat rushed out in front of them - Nightseeker? Wasn't that the molly's name? Creekthroat unsheathed her claws and stepped up beside Froststar, ready to defend her leader at any hint of a threat. ❖ [ so many cats ] ❖ [ near Nightclan camp ] ❖
Shellpatch tom ; dayclan ; warrior
Shellpatch had been ordered onto the patrol to help Froststar find her daughter and he was more than happy to join in. Two missing cats were nothing to scoff about and the black and white tom couldn't help but be concerned. He used to be a rogue, after all, he knew the dangers of being held captive by the enemy. The tom had been nearly dead when Dayclan had found him on their borders and he'd been lucky to be taken in. The fighting between the clans could get intense but at least he didn't have to fight with his clan-mates for food. He also wasn't treated the best, still an outsider in a lot of ways, but maybe being included on this patrol was Froststar giving him a chance to prove himself. The tom could only hope. He padded on close to the apprentice, Flamepaw, especially as they went deeper into enemy land. He didn't want the kid to get hurt. He'd seen enough loss of innocents in the world to last two lifetimes. When the clan paused, faced with a single Nightclan cat, he placed his tail on Flamepaw's shoulders briefly, to halt the tom. "Careful," he murmured, keeping his voice low, eyeing the she-cats at the head of the group. Froststar addressed the molly tensely but before the black-furred feline could really reply, the rest of the Nightclan patrol had shown up. Shellpatch felt the fur along his spine rise, trying to alert him to danger. He pressed a bit closer to the group, partially hiding Flamepaw with his body, so that none of the other clan could attack him head-on. They'd have to go through the black and white warrior first. ❖ [ everybody ] ❖ [ near Nightclan camp ] ❖
Moonpaw she-cat ; nightclan ; apprentice
Moonpaw missed Foxsmoke. She had reluctantly padded after Nightseeker when the Juniperfur had ordered her to go out and get some training done. The other apprentices' laughter still rang in her ears. The small feline was fresh out of the nursery and already stories of her epic clumsiness had traveled throughout the clan. Starting with the day she was apprenticed, when she tripped on her way to meet Nettlestar and then had headbutted Foxsmoke in the chin on accident. Her gray-blue eyes were dull as she tried to pay attention to whatever the older she-cat was saying. Her mind was on other things - mainly the nasty words her den-mates had whispered last night. At first, they just spoke of rumors that Foxsmoke and Blazethorn had run off together or that Blazethorn had killed her mentor and taken off, but then Weaselpaw had mentioned that Foxsmoke might have run away from his embarrassment of an apprentice - to save his reputation. Moonpaw had tried to shake off the words, she wasn't good at hunting or fighting but she was still young. Maybe she tripped over the air and often ran into things, but Foxsmoke hadn't made her feel like a burden...
Unfortunately, some part of Moonpaw also couldn't forget the pain on his face when she'd headbutted him and stepped on his tail - twice! Or the vague disappointment or frustration that would cross his face when he would spend an afternoon trying to explain a new hunting or fighting method and she still couldn't seem to grasp it. The exasperation he'd turn into amusement as she ran into trees or bushes. Had she read his acceptance wrong? Did she really annoy him more than anything? Moonpaw wasn't sure what to think, but she absolutely missed her mentor.
[ time skip ]
The molly stood behind her fellow apprentices, she'd already fallen a few times on the way here. At the back of the group was really the best place for her. Of course, Dovepaw and Weaselpaw snickered quietly at her but she tried to focus more on the tensions between the two clans. That was more important anyway. ❖ [ everyone and their mother ] ❖ [ near Nightclan camp ] ❖
