I thought of this and didn't realize how many villains there were lol
Anyway I like Mapleshade and Ashfur
Mapleshade was well written and the reason she was a villain was good in my opinion. Ashfur is a good villain, but slightly confusing. I like his plan in TBC, and I think he was well written too
If I had to pick one it would be Mapleshade

To be honest, the only villains I really enjoyed were Tigerstar, Darktail and Ashfur.
Out of these, I like Darktail the best.
I'm still sad that he was killed off so early.

My favorite has to be Ashfur. Meanwhile the least favorite would be Mapleshade.

Tigerstar I. While he did get some big competition with more recent villains such as Darktail who died way too early and Ashfur who certainly has stepped his incel game up during TBC even more since the fire scene in PoT, Tigerstar I will always be my favorite bad guy, mostly for nostalgia and the fact that he played a role in the series for four whole arcs with only one real goal in mind after he died. Thus the Tigerstar I vs. Firestar rivalry only continues to be truly iconic to me!

Tigerstar is the best villain, even though he isn't my favorite. Brokestar, Scourge, Sol, Ashfur, Hawkfrost, and Mapleshade are some other notable villains I both like and think are well written. (As well written as you can get for Warriors in any case.

I think Darktaill was pretty well written, in the sense that he posed a real, terrifying threat to the Clans that ghosts couldn't match.

Ashfur's my favorite. But Tigerstar I, Darktail, Brokenstar, Fury, Scourge and Hawkfrost are up there as well. Mapleshade was fine just being involved with trying to exterminate Appledusk's line, imo.

Darktail. Lame name, lame backstory, but he did one of the most threatening things and actually almost succeeded in killing the clans. ShadowClan fell apart because of him, SkyClan lost their home, and he drowned many cats and many others followed him and were killed because of it.
But his backstory? It's shit. I don't like how it revolves around Onestar, because I genuinely feel like the connection between them just don't really add up together due to the timelines and now old Darktail really is. There's absolutely no mention about Onestar's past at all of him being with Smoky, so this entire thing feels like a fanfic at best.
However, Darktail is actually threatening, and he was one of the few villains who almost succeeded in destroying all five Clans - including SkyClan. He has to be probably one of my favorite villains in the entire series. I'll forgive his backstory and his name because he made such an interesting villain.
None of the others were really successful as much as him, and the clans actually feared/hated him.
Sure, you have Mapleshade and she's okay, but she's a whiny little bitch who used everyone to do her own deeds. The worst she did was kill 3 cats and that's it. She was cool in Omen of the Stars but she honestly feels like she exists for edge and has a pretty weak backstory that revolves around romance with us forcing to sympathize with her, and you're not really supposed to feel sorry for a villain. The books acted like she did nothing wrong and killed everyone for her "greater good" but she's a horrible tryant who did shit out of malice. That's my problem with Mapleshade. She is treated as a character with readers who feel like she did the right thing to kill everyone for her kits and even the books says that she did nothing wrong. I don't remember any of the other villains being treated like this in the series tbh. She really isn't all that great. I feel like she's a frustrating character who just pops up now and then just to say "I'm going to make you pay!" and then goes poof lol.

Best villain, I dunno. But in terms of the most evil and the most twisted and the scariest one to read about when I was a kid? Brokenstar. You have to be one cold-hearted and messed up individual to not only just kill kits, but to also take joy out of it. He ripped all of his father’s lives away, basically destroyed Shadowclan and drove off Windclan, and he wad very clearly a big leader in the Dark Forest. I think personally that he was probably the de facto leader of the DF cats at the time, besides Tigerstar. Brokenstar might not have been the strongest but he certainly went the farthest in terms of how messed up his actions were.
