Welcome, potential joiner! This is Viperclan. It is a fan clan but with a twist: instead of centering around the adventures of wild cats, it is a story about wild humans. All of the lore is inspired by the warrior cats books. The species of the characters is the key difference, but the spirit of warrior cats is intact. This an exercise to examine how the warrior cat culture would translate to the human experience. We must ask for the suspension of disbelief as this clan is not meant to replicate the experiences of any current or historical human culture. It is purely fiction.
Viperclan is comprised of proud folk, known for their valiance, recklessness, and selflessness. They are a people both of the plains and of the forest, with a territory that spans many miles. Their rivals are Nettleclan, who live to the west. Because of the enemies and predators (bears, mountain lions, and wolves) that roam the land, Viperclan must always been on guard. In fact, they have people among their ranks who specialize in combat. Their warriors fill specific roles, whether it be providing for the clan, protecting them, or crafting their shelter and goods. In every other way, it is a typical clan, one which fights every day for its survival.

As mentioned previously, Viperclan is structured the same as any clan. It is headed by a leader and a deputy. It has a medicineman (or woman). The majority of its members are either warriors or apprentices, and it also features queens (though now they are called "mothers") and their younglings, known as "tots." The suffixes for the youngest members of the clan is the same as their title. For apprentices, who are slightly older (9-19), it is "colt." All other suffixes remain the same. In general, names tend to reference human-related things such as palm, fist, hair, arm, arrow, hatchet, hammer, etc. But they also, like warrior cat names, refer to plants, animals, the weather, etc.
The most important different between a human clan and a cat clan is that humans require a few extra things: larger shelter, more game, and sufficient clothing. They also live in an environment with larger predators, and border a clan with fierce warriors armed with weapons. For all these reasons, warriors must have a very wide range of skills. All warriors in the clan can feed, protect, and shelter their clan. That being said, things run more efficiently when they can focus on one of those things. For that reason, warriors are split up into three categories:
PROVIDERS: These warriors provide food for the clan. They hunt large game such as deer, boar, and elk. For this they hunt in groups, carrying bows and spears. They can sometimes track herds for several days before returning to camp with their kills. They also hunt smaller game such as rabbits and birds by setting snares. Lastly, they fish in the rivers and ponds in the territory.
GUARDS: Charged with protecting the clan, these warriors train daily to improve their skill with a variety of weapons such as spears, bows, hatchets, machetes, and throwing knives. They patrol the territory daily to protect against Nettleclan. They also accompany hunting parties to protect against predators (bears, wolves, other humans, mountain lions, lynxs, moose) and will travel with the leaders and medicinemen on their outings as well.
CRAFTSMEN: Humans require large shelters, so the craftsmen are very important members of the clan. They build the mudbrick and river stone houses which protect the clan against the elements. They can also create weapons, craft jewelry, repair items, and gather the necessary materials.
Again, all of the warriors are trained to accomplish all of these tasks. In times of crisis, craftsmen become guards, guards become providers, etc. Their title merely references how they spend the majority of their time. Mothers and elders help the clan run by weaving textiles and tanning leather for clothing. They often busy their hands with the creation of jewelry made of feathers, beads, precious rocks, and shells.
Apprentices (or "colts") from the age of 9 to 13 are trained in all of the duties by their mentors. This is to ensure they are well rounded and also that they respect the roles of their fellow warriors. By the age of 13, they must select the area in which they would like to specialize in order to continue their training. Sometimes this means being assigned a mentor who has more knowledge of their preferred area. They will graduate to the rank of warrior only once the leader deems them ready, which is typically between the ages of 16-19 years.

Viperclan territory is quite vast. It is a three day-long walk from one end to the other, or a day long ride on horseback. The camp is in the center of the territory, in an area called the "moor" or "meadow." This part of the territory is covered in tall grasses and wildflowers bloom there in greenleaf. Several streams cut through the territory, which can be used for fishing by the providers. The most frequently used stream is to the west, a couple miles away, and is called "Slow Stream." Further to the west, with another stretch of land between, is a wide river that marks the western border of the territory.
The mountains to the east and to the north also mark the territory, as well as the lake to the south. Through the center of the territory, a bit to the east of camp, is another notable stream called "Red Stream" because the runoff from the mountains makes it muddy in newleaf. It has a large island between two of its tributaries, which contains a forest good for hunting rabbits and deer. The far eastern side of the territory is another moor where the elk like to roam in leafbare.
The mountains directly north of camp are steep and difficult to climb, but some of their peaks grow flowers that cannot be found at lower elevation, so the medicine men frequent them in the warmer months.

Viperclan's camp is on the moors near the middle of their territory. The moors can be quite windswept at times, but the camp itself is sheltered next to a few hills. There is a small spring that trickles out from between the hills, where the clan can get fresh water and wash clothes. A number of both deciduous and coniferous trees guard the camp from intruders, as well as natural rose thickets. Beneath the hills is the largest of the mudhouses, belonging to the leader's family. It is different from the rest as it has an attached overhang used to shelter up to three horses. To the left of that is the medicine man's house, which is large enough to house up to six people. Its front-facing all is covered in a flowering vine it also has a fenced in garden. Directly across from it, to the right of the leader's house, is the spring.
The rest of the mudhouses belong to the families of the clan. They are typically just large enough for five to seven people to sleep comfortably, and each has its own fireplace to heat the homes in leafbare. Some of the homes have gardens, others have spaces to tie up a horse or store tools. Young warriors tend to live with their parents until their families outgrow a space. If a person does not have a family, they sometimes live with others their age or other family-less members of the clan. The houses of the camp are very simple and do not have much space for anything besides sleeping.
Most activities are done outside, and the center of the camp is a dedicated space for cooking around the main fire. Clanmates tend to sit on large rocks to chat or go about their daily tasks such as crafting.

Here are a few things to keep in mind before joining Viperclan. If you do not think you can abide by these, it would probably be best if you joined a different roleplay.
1. LITERACY: This is a semi-advanced to advanced roleplay. While posts of four or five paragraphs are sufficient, keep in mind that a level of detail and attention is expected in posts. Typos are expected and okay, but please try to make your characters complex and your plots nuanced.
2. ACTIVITY: I as much as anyone know that activity can be difficult when you have things going on in your real life. None of us can see the future, but perhaps avoid joining if you expect you will be unable to contribute to the roleplay regularly. This is especially true if you involve yourself in important plots or claim necessary roles.
3. REALISM: This is a fictional roleplay which does not take place in any real place or time. That being said, please do not make characters with unnatural physical attributes or abilities. People of any existing race, color, sexuality, or shape are completely fair play.
4. MATURITY: Though the content will be more or less the same as the warrior cat books, human material tends to feel more mature by nature. Try not to write material that will get us in trouble. But also don't join if you fear things will be beyond your level of comfort.
5. GODMODDING: Please do not control other people's characters in your posts.
6. CHARACTER MAKING: There is no character limit for this roleplay, but please air on the side of "a-few-quality-characters" rather than "a-ton-of-one-dimensional-characters." Also leave enough important plots and ranks open for others as possible.

HIGHER RANKS LEADER
Marestar (glow) ➳ 53 years old ➳ Leader ➳ Female ➳ Heterosexual ➳
She was once a fierce guard, and though the years are beginning to show on Marestar's face, she is by no means weak. She is taller than most women with a toned, rectangular build. Her hair, once sandy blonde, is now streaked with silver. It is naturally straight and typically pulled back in a loose bun. Her eyes are dark blue, and she has an aquiline nose. She typically wears white linen with straight trousers and functional tops. She does not enjoy wearing jewelry and is rarely adorned in fussy ways. Her strength is most evident when she wields a spear, though she has not had many opportunities to use it in combat since relinquishing her guard duties, it is a yearly practice for mentors to ask Marestar to give the littlest apprentices a demonstration.
Marestar had three siblings growing up, and all died young during one of the toughest periods in Viperclan's history, when tensions with Nettleclan were high. She is a tough woman, perhaps too firm at times and not maternal by most accounts. But she has a strong moral compass and does her best to attain greatness for her clan. She is proud, brave, and fierce at heart. Completely unafraid of confrontation. She has high standards both for herself and for her clan. She is also very devout when it comes to Starclan, and seeks their guidance regularly.
DEPUTY

Wolfsight (aether) ➳ 61 ➳ Medicine Person ➳ Male ➳ Heterosexual ➳
Wolfsight is considered old for the clans standards though he doesn't seem that way. His eyes crease with every smile, his face has a slight droop to the skin, and he is so thin that one might believe a breeze would knock him to the ground. Yet, Wolfsight is perky and alert - he navigates the undergrowth like a provider in their prime. He is short - even more so now that his back has a slight bend - and he has sun-kissed skin. When he was younger he wasn't particularly a handsome man, his nose is crooked from a childhood accident, his eyelashes are so thin they may as well be nonexistent, and his eyes are sunken, given him the appearance of eye bags. He has brunette hair that is now turning grey. It is long enough that he is able to tie it back, though he can be spotted with his hair down. He has hazel eyes.
A sickly child, Wolfsight grew up to be behind many of his peers; he wasn't as big or as strong, and was constantly being cooped up in the medicine hut. As a child he despised it and acted snarky, retaliating whenever asked to take medicine, this lead to him pretending he wasn't ill, which often made his sickness worse. Thankfully, as he grew older he did not fall sick so often, but he found himself knowing more about medicine then hunting or fighting; nor did he feel as though he couldn't do either. It was a slow-burning process, but Wolfsight found himself being pulled into the world of medicine. He is very intelligent and quite spiritual, making him a natural choice to be a medicine person. He can get carried away in his own ramblings (much to the dismay of his patients) but there is a charm to his oddities. He will often talk in semantics, giving advice through what can be considered confusing language, though he believes all must forge their own path.
Dayspring (Pearl) ➳ 25 ➳ Medicine Person ➳ Female ➳ Heterosexual ➳
Dayspring looks very young. She has blonde hair that leans towards platinum. It is thick, long, and wavy, falling to her waist. Dayspring likes to tie it up in a plait so that it doesn't go everywhere, but sometimes keeps strands out to frame her face. She is a relatively slender young woman, but she has a bust on the slightly larger size. She is of a medium height, not too tall, but not too small either. Her lips are quite plump and a lighter, pastel shade of pink. Her skin has a soft light honey glow with plenty of elasticity. She has no wrinkles whatsoever. Dayspring has rather thin eyebrows that are a slightly darker shade to her hair and thick, black eyelashes that frame her eyes. Her eyes are a steel grey. They are always expressive.
Dayspring is well-read. Despite being so young, she is very knowledgeable, and is a very good medicine woman. She is a very hopeful young woman. She is very optimistic about the future. Dayspring is extremely messy. She never knows where anything is, since she's very unorganised. You also rarely see her without dirt on her face and clothes because she's been roaming and looking for herbs. Dayspring is dense. She is very slow at reading someone else's emotions and thoughts, and has no idea about love due to her far too obvious love and focus on her job. Despite her knowledge and intelligence, she's rather stupid emotionally. Dayspring is simple. She wears her heart on her sleeve, and is very easy to understand. She is also laid-back; relaxed and easy-going.

WARRIORS PROVIDERS
Ironfeather (glow) ➳ 30 years old ➳ Provider ➳ Male ➳ Heterosexual ➳
Ironfeather takes after his mother in some ways and his late father in others. He is tall (6'4") and hulkingly muscular. His strong build, aquiline nose, and dark blue eyes are all Marestar. But his black hair was passed on by his father. He wears it long and braided, with the sides of his head shaved. In the winter, he wears a silver wolf pelt over his shoulders. In the summer, pants made from deerhide and little else. Brawn is one of the words that comes to mind when describing Ironfeather physically. His facial features are much like his mother's with almond shaped eyes and a proud mouth. He is covered in scars, including a noticeable one on his collarbone.
He is the eldest of his mother's children and he maintains that she was the strictest with him, which probably holds some truth. But the pressure made him into a strong man, one who takes pride in providing for his clan. He can be fearsome at times, and reckless to the point of putting himself in dangerous positions. He would fight a bear without a weapon if given the opportunity. He is charismatic if a bit narcissistic. Most people in the clan get along with Ironfeather and he would be a natural successor to his mother, but she has always seen his worst qualities over his good ones.
Windkick (Pearl) ➳ 20 ➳ Provider ➳ Male ➳ Homosexual ➳ Windkick is a very slender male. He doesn't have much arm muscle, but he does have a lot of leg strength. Windkick has a very boyish look. He has sandy-blonde hair that's cropped short on the sides and longer in front. His hair tends to get messy at times, but he can easily smooth it back in place. His hair is straight. His eyes are a very light blue. Not crystal blue like his brother Stonefist, but more of a sky blue. Windkick isn't very tall, but not short either. He doesn't have any facial hair, and his skin is a very honeyed tan. He has a thinner upper lip and a fuller lower lip and bushy, yet straight eyebrows.
Windkick is rather ordinary. He has no special or distinctive features. He is also very average and mediocre. He doesn't stand out from the crowd. Windkick is a very impatient individual. He is very quick to irritate or provoke. He is also very hesitant in nature. He doesn't have confidence in his abilities, which is why he never jumps at any opportunities. Windkick is a fast runner, faster than the rest of the clan, but he doesn't feel that it's redeemable, which is why he's so hesitant. He is very focused when he needs to be. He can direct a great deal of attention and interest on a particular aim or task. He does, however, tend to forget about his surroundings when in a focused state. Windkick is feisty. He is lively, determined and courageous when he needs to be. He won't back down, and will give it his all if he's given a task. Windkick isn't good at fighting or working with his hands, which is why he's a provider.
GUARDS
Paintedbrow (glow) ➳ 22 years old ➳ Guard ➳ Female ➳ Heterosexual ➳
Slightly shorter than average and with a toned frame, Paintedbrow is not as large as some of her fellow guards. But she is much stronger than one would expect, and she makes up for lack of brawn with speed and agility. She has skin of medium darkness, dark amber eyes, and hair the color of pine bark. She has a slender waist, strong/rounded hips, and slight shoulders. Her hair is naturally somewhat curled and she wears it pushed back by a linen sash. She typically wields either a spear or a hatchet when protecting her clanmates. She often wears white war paint on her face and limbs. Now as a mother to-be, her lower abdomen is beginning to swell with her first babe.
She has always been reserved and measured. As an apprentice, her decision to become a guard was a prolonged one as she could not decide which path to take. Paintedbrow does not like to act without carefully considering her options, which makes her an intelligent person. She also has a streak of stubbornness. Once she is committed to a decision, she will not lift her heels. She is fiercely loyal and sometimes naïve in her dedication to other people. She always wants to be the best she can be and has very high standards for herself. To others she might come off as anxious or high-strung in tense moments.
Stonefist (aether) ➳ 25 ➳ Guard ➳ Male ➳ Heterosexual Stonefist is a tall individual who has a well-muscled figure, although not overly so. His physique exudes strength from years of training. He has short, mussed sandy blonde hair that is kept short to keep it out of his eyes. His eyes are a crystal blue colour, giving his otherwise masculine and battered face a touch of feminine beauty. He has various scars over his body, including some marks over his forehead that are often covered by a sweep of his hair.
For all his tough looks, Stonefist is rather a goofy character. As a child he would tumble and play-fight with his male siblings (he is a middle child of three boys), so he quickly decided he would be a guard. The young man can be rash and stubborn, ready to spring into action at a moments notice, so he is in no way a perfect guard. Not only that but he has the tendency to get distracted and bored when there is little commotion happening. Stonefist is a comedic young man without much pride; he doesn't mind being the butt of a joke if others are laughing with him.
Nighthawk (Pearl) ➳ 29 ➳ Guard ➳ Male ➳ Homosexual ➳ Nighthawk is a very tall and well-built male. He isn't overly muscular, but he is broad shouldered and has lithe muscles. His muscles are sleek and he doesn't always look like he has muscles. His skin is a honeyed tan and his hair is a very dark brown, near black. His hair is straight, and tends to get messy easily. He also has a constant stubble on his face, covering the full length of his jaw and chin, as well as his upper lip. His eyebrows are rather bushy and thick, but neat. His jaw is angular, but not too sharp. His eyes are a steel grey, though a lighter shade to Dayspring, and not as metallic.
Nighthawk is a very amorous male. He practically exudes appeal, and would be a very passionate mate who cares a lot for his other half. He is rather parsimonious though. He's terrifyingly miserly, not willing to use many resources. He is the epitome of stinginess. Despite his amorous appearance, Nighthawk is a grumpy male. He is bad-tempered and irritable. He can burst at even the slightest of mistakes. He is also selfish, only caring for his own personal profit. The good thing about Nighthawk, though is that he doesn't act this way to his family. If and when he finds his mate, he will treasure them with everything he has. Despite his bad qualities and amorous appearance, Nighthawk is guileless. He is extremely innocent, and could never deceive anyone. Like Dayspring, he wears his heart on his sleeve. He is very scrupulous, always very careful with what he does, and has a very strong attention to detail. He is thorough, making him a very good guard. Like Dayspring, Nighthawk is the middle child in his family. He learnt to be selfish and stingy since there were two siblings younger than him.
Beefrost (Yumeko Jabami) ➳ 23 ➳ Guard ➳ Female ➳ Bisexual ➳
Beefrost has a medium shade of tanned skin, adorned with soft freckles all over her face and a patchwork of scars over her body. She has a somewhat slim, but slightly muscular body, about 5ft 4in tall. She has thick, black hair that she usually keeps at a pixie cut, though sometimes when it gets cold outside she might grow out to her shoulders. Her hair is not one of her top priorities, she most of the time her short hair is spiked up in random places. She has green eyes, with round shaped eyelids.
Beefrost has a somewhat intimidating look to her, but her personality could not be more different. She has a bubbly personality, and usually doesn't know when to shut up. She's very spontaneous and rambunctious, and she loves chasing an adrenaline rush. Beefrost does have a pet peeve for clanmates that don't know when to have fun; It's a strong opinion of hers that life is meant to be exciting at times, and doesn't like those that are all about work all the time. Despite all this, Beefrost is a very compassionate and empathetic person. If someone is sad, angry, or both, she would be the first one to ask what's wrong and try to understand. However, Beefrost can have a very short fuse. She is very in touch with her emotions, and while sometimes this is a great thing, it can also be a huge flaw of hers, and while she's very good at understanding her feelings, she is not great at dealing with them. She can be a very hot and cold person, and at times it may be hard for others to keep up.
CRAFTSMEN
Sleetpalm (glow) ➳ 26 years old ➳ Craftswoman ➳ Female ➳ Bisexual ➳
A slender woman of approximately average height. Her hair is ashen in color with darker roots and she wears it half up, half down so it does not get in her face while she works. Her eyes are brown. She has a straight nose and a charming smile. She wears a bandeau in the summer and a necklace made of tanager feathers. Her nose is spattered with light freckles. A very distinct scar runs from her left eyebrow, over her eye, and down her cheek from an injury she sustained as an apprentice.
Sleetpalm has always been detail-oriented and hard working, but never had the patience for hunting or patrols. She prefers to work with her hands. She helps around camp in building shelters, making weapons, and constructing fishingpoles. Her specialty is giving tattoos to brave volunteers. She is kind, teasing, and stubborn. She enjoys spending time with the younger members of the clan and is known to get into a bit of trouble with Marestar. One time she rigged a cot for a grumpy warrior so that he collapsed onto the floor after getting into bed.
Jackdawheart (aether) ➳ 29 ➳ Craftsman ➳ Male ➳ Heterosexual ➳
Fairly pale in comparison to most, Jackdawheart is a tall, slim built individual. Named after a Jackdaw for his dark tangle of locks after his birth - akin to the colour of a Jackdaw's feathers - he continued to become rather an embodiment of the bird; spending much of his time during his early childhood wandering off in his own thoughts or watching crafters from afar. Comparatively to guards and providers, Jackdawheart seems soft and unmarked, with little scars or battle-wounds over his skin. His hands, on the other hand, are hard and battered from years of crafting, experimenting, and building. He has cornflower blue eyes surrounded by a rim of long, dark lashes, as well as clear pale cheeks that blush at a moments notice.
Jackdawheart is extremely inquisitive, expressing a lot of interest in the idea of building things. He is rather experimental, also, trying new techniques and mentally forming blueprints of potentially new tools. His rather intelligent, but soft spoken; often keeping his musings to himself. As a child he was often left to his own devices (his mother was rather frivolous), lending Jackdawheart to become sufficient in just himself. Being introverted, many will not take much notice of the tall, dark-haired man looming at the edge of the crowd, however he is quite the interesting specimen.
Dappledlight (mintedstar/fur) ➳ 26 ➳ Craftsperson ➳ Genderfluid (any pronouns) ➳ Queer ➳
Dappledlight is a slim, almost sallow individual who is about 5ft 9in in height. They have light brown skin and dark brown hair, which is often pulled back from the head and ears in a ponytail or a loosely woven braid. They usually like to keep their hair anywhere from just below the ears to about midway down the back, depending on the season and how hot it is, since their hair does tend to be rather thick. They have brown eyes, often looking wide and interested in everything they are looking at. Their fingers are slim and have a couple scars on them from various crafting mishaps.
As a person, Dapplelight is very active, rambunctious, and perhaps even borders on annoying. There seems to be no ill-intent from this and they seem to even lack the knowledge that this is how they might come across. How they usually show affection can completely be based on creating something for someone else, with perhaps a lack of knowledge toward why they need to. Comfort is something they are capable of, as well as sympathy, but they lack a good grasp of empathy. They love to create things and have expressed this interest even from a young age. They also like that it gives them slightly more freedom than, they feel, other positions. Creating and preforming for their clan, they feel, is better when done through craftmanship. As a child, it was a bit up for debate whether they were considered too social or antisocial. It would seem to oscillate day-to-day. APPRENTICES YOUNG APPRENTICES (9-13)
Tawnycolt (Pearl) ➳ 10 ➳ Apprentice ➳ Female ➳ Heterosexual ➳ Tawnycolt is a small girl with naturally darker tanned skin that looks medium brown in colour. Her hair is a perfect shade of brown that's a mix of both her mother's blonde and her father's black. Her hair is quite thin and straight. She likes to keep it long and free. It falls to the small of her back. She has rather thin eyebrows, and her eyelashes aren't thick. She has more of a button nose. Her eyes are a lovely grey-blue colour.
Tawnycolt is presentable. She is clean, smart and decent. She never gets dirty, and always keeps a nice appearance. She is also very trendy. She likes to craft new clothes, which is why she wants to be a craftswoman. She has a lot of ideas, and is willing to work on them to help the clan. Tawnycolt is extremely bull-headed. She's obstinant and determined. If she sets her mind on something, she will do it, no matter what. Due to her want to craft new things and ideas, Tawnycolt is rather prodigal. She is very wasteful with materials, using it in a free and wasteful manner. Due to this, she's considered to be rather quirky. She's unconventional and eccentric. She's also opinionated, willing to say what she wishes in an assertive manner.
OLDER APPRENTICES (13+)
Brittlecolt (glow) ➳ 15 years old ➳ Guard Apprentice ➳ Male ➳ Bisexual ➳
He's tall for his age but has not yet grown into his long limbs. He has naturally ebony skin and dark eyes. His hair is kept closely cut to his skull. He has some piercings in his left ear and through septum of his broad nose. He has a clever smile and is much quicker and stronger than he looks, despite his lankiness. Brittlecolt was built for running long distances and for climbing treacherous rocks.
He is a reserved person who does not often assert his own opinions. He carries a lot of pride and does his damndest to impress the older members of the clan. He has a hot temper, but is typically seen as quite soft-spoken. He is ambitious and clever, though he can sometimes neglect the less glamorous of his duties
Fletchcolt (aether) ➳ 17 ➳ Provider Apprentice ➳ Female ➳ Heterosexual ➳ Fletchcolt is quite a pretty young lady, with chopped, wavy hair that tickles her neck. It is not long enough to tie back in it's entirety so she will sometimes tie back the top layer of hair to keep it out of her face. Her hair is a chocolately brown in colour. Fletchcolt has dark, doe-brown eyes that are updated - and expressive dark eyebrows. She is somewhat on the shorter side and has plenty of ticks and marks from her rough training. Most notably, she has a scar that runs through her right eyebrow that has affected the hair growth - the scar is only about 4cm.
Named after the impressive skills of her father, whom died only a moon before her birth, Fletchcolt has made her life's mission to master the use of a bow and arrow; just like her father once had. Her ambitions and goals can often time cause her to lose her patience for all things that don't including hunting. It can be an amusing sight, watching the teen flare up in the heat of irritation as she performs menial tasks about camp - yet out in the forest, she is a completely different person. Each movement is precise and skilled (albeit not perfect, she is an apprentice after all), any mistake she does make whilst hunting is met with a fierce spark of resilience.

Dawnbreaker (Pearl) ➳ 26 ➳ Mother ➳ Female ➳ Heterosexual ➳ Dawnbreaker has a brown-black skin tone with very smooth skin. Her hair is naturally curly and frizzy, always drying in ringlets. Her hair colour is black and her hair is thick. She is tall, and slender, not having many muscles. Her eyebrows are very thin. She has a thinner upper lip, and fuller lower lip. Dawnbreaker is a really lenient. She's very tolerant of mistakes. She's also rather insightful. She has a strong intuition, able to perceive things that others want to hide when talking. Dawnbreaker's personality is rather obscure. She doesn't express her emotions and thoughts clearly, allowing for misunderstandings. She's quite silly at times, though she's usually very level-headed. When she's not silly, Dawnbreaker tends to be calm and sensible. She is an unstoppable force. When she sets her mind to do something, she's impossible to stop.
TOTS
Skytot (Pearl) ➳ 2 ➳ Tot ➳ Male ➳ Heterosexual ➳ Skytot is a small little boy with a lighter brown skin tone compared to his mother, making him look half-caste. His hair is short, black and very curly, drying in ringlets. He has a gap between his two front teeth. His nose is also like his mother's, flatter and wider. His lips are pink with a thinner upper lip and fuller lower lip. His eyebrows are very thin, and his eyes are a dark brown, near black.
(Since Skytot's too small, this is what he will be.) Skytot is dogmatic. He is extremely opinionated, laying down his principles as the truth. He is a typical person, a model clanmember. He is rather tardy though. Skytot is never on time, but he is responsible, and will never let down anyone when he is relied on. He is very crabby. He is irritated easily. When he does get to work, he is extremely detailed. He pays close eye on the attention to detail, and not much escapes his eye. Skytot is admirable, deserving of praise and approval.

These are just to have as reference, so no pressure to read through them unless you're looking for inspiration or the correct term for something.
Herbs For Illness:
➳ Borage Leaves: It is easily distinguished by its small blue or pink star-shaped flowers and hairy leaves. ➳➳ Location: Grows best in forests. ➳➳➳ Uses: It is chewed and eaten by nursing mothers to produce better and more milk, also brings down fevers.
➳ Bright-eyes: Light pink with darker pink in the middles. ➳➳ Location: Sunny areas, wooded areas, thickets. ➳➳➳ Uses: Crushed into a poultice mixture with lovage to help cure coughs.
➳ Catmint: A leafy and delicious-smelling plant. ➳➳ Location: Rarely found in the wild. Found in places with dry soil. ➳➳➳ Uses: Best remedy for the deadly greencough, which tots and elders usually catch in the season of leaf-bare. Can also be used for whitecough. Must be eaten.
➳ Chickweed: Tall-stemmed plant with fat, almond-shaped leaves. ➳➳ Location: In the forest. ➳➳➳ Uses: Treats greencough when catmint is not found. Must be eaten.
➳ Coltsfoot: A flowering plant with yellow or white flowers resembling dandelions, grows best in newleaf. ➳➳ Location: Grows by the waterfall. ➳➳➳ Uses: Leaves are chewed into a pulp to ease breathing, tot-cough, or cracked skin.
➳ Feverfew: Small bush with flowers resembling daisies, has a sharp tangy smell and small soft leaves. ➳➳ Location: Grows along water. ➳➳➳ Uses: Reduces body temperature for people with fever or chills, also heals aches and pains, especially good for headaches when eaten.
➳ Hawkweed: Small green plant with yellow and orange flowers. ➳➳ Location: Unknown ➳➳➳ Uses: to cure greencough when catmint in unavailable, however it is not as strong. Must be eaten.
➳ Honey: A sweet, golden-colored liquid made by bees. ➳➳ Location: In honeycombs in trees. ➳➳➳ Uses: Soothes infections, is a great remedy for smoke-damaged or sore throats, helps people swallow other concoctions, helps soothe coughing, and gives energy, eaten or moss soaked in it.
➳ Juniper Berries: Purple-blue berries from the dark green, spiky-leaved juniper bush. ➳➳ Location: Grows in dry areas. ➳➳➳ Uses: Soothes bellyaches, gives strength, and helps troubled breathing, it is also used to help calm people when eaten.
➳ Lavender: A small purple flowering plant. ➳➳ Location: Sunny spots with sandy or gravelly soil. ➳➳➳ Uses: Placed under a person’s nose and is to be inhaled constantly to cure chills and fever, or rubbed/placed on an animal’s body to hide the scent of death.
➳ Lungwort: A herb with dark green leaves speckled with gray. ➳➳ Location: Moor. ➳➳➳ Uses: Cures yellowcough.
➳ Mallow Leaves: Large fuzzy three-nubbed leaves from a flowering shrub; sweet rose scent. ➳➳ Location: Near a shore, but collect at sun-high when dry. ➳➳➳ Uses: Soothes bellyache when eaten.
➳ Parsley: A long-stemmed plant with ragged-edged crinkly leaves, sharp scent, tastes cold and fresh, tastes the same fresh or dried. ➳➳ Location: Moist, well-drained soil with full sun. ➳➳➳ Uses: Stops a mother from producing milk if her tots die, don't need milk anymore, or are producing too much milk, also used to cure bellyache.
➳ Sweet-Sedge: Thick green stem with long buds at the top. ➳➳ Location: Grows in Leaf-Bare. Grows near water. ➳➳➳ Uses: One must swallow the sap to ease infection.
➳ Tansy: The tansy plant has round, yellow leaves, and has a very sweet and strong scent, making it good for disguising a cat's scent. ➳➳ Location: In the forest. ➳➳➳ Uses: To be consumed, but only in small doses. Cures coughs, can be used to cure wounds and poisons. Stops people from getting greencough, soothes throats.
➳ Watermint: A green, leafy plant. ➳➳ Location: In streams or damp earth. ➳➳➳ Uses: It is usually chewed into a pulp, and then eaten. Eases the suffering that originates from a bellyache. Eases the suffering that originates from a bellyache.

➳ Broom: Shrubs with small leaves and small yellow flowers. ➳➳ Location: Grows in forests. ➳➳➳ Uses: It is used to make poultices for broken legs and wounds.
➳ Burdock Root: Tall-stemmed thistle with a sharp smell and dark leaves, best in dry places. ➳➳ Location: Dry areas. ➳➳➳ Uses: The root is dug up, the soil is washed off, and then it is chewed into a pulp so it may prevent infection against animal bites, also soothes and heals the pain of infected animal bites.
➳ Celandine: Yellow flower with four petals. ➳➳ Location: In the forest and around water. ➳➳➳ Uses: Juice is trickled into the eye to help soothe it.
➳ Chervil: A sweet-smelling plant with large, leafy, fern-like leaves and small white flowers, the roots are described as being knobby and brown. ➳➳ Location: In the forest near rocky areas. ➳➳➳ Uses: Chewed to extract the juice of the leaves or the root for infected wounds, bellyaches, and sometimes birthing.
➳ Cobwebs: Long, thin, shiny strands spun into a web by spiders, very common. ➳➳ Location: In the forest. ➳➳➳ Uses: To soak up and stop (or slow) the bleeding, it may also be used to bind broken bones.
➳ Comfrey Root: It has large leaves, small bell-shaped flowers, which are pink, white, or purple, and fat, black roots and a tangy smell. ➳➳ Location: Damp, grassy areas. ➳➳➳ Uses: Roots are chewed into a poultice, can also be lined in one's nest, repairs broken bones or soothes wounds, also used for wrenched fingernails, can be used for itching or for inflammation on stiff joints, also eases stiffness on wrenched shoulders when lined in a bed.
➳ Dandelion: Common yellow-flowered plant with long, hollow stems, after flowering is finished, the flower transforms a sphere made out of hundreds of smaller white florets with seed heads at the bottom that connect to the flower head. ➳➳ Location: Everywhere. ➳➳➳ Uses: The white liquid is thought to be applied to bee stings, leaves can be chewed to act as a painkiller.
➳ Dock: Common, large-leafed plant with a tangy smell and taste. ➳➳ Location: Leafy areas. ➳➳➳ Uses: When chewed up it soothes scratches, though can sting when being applied, soothes sore skins, if placed in beds, it can ease the pain of wounds.
➳ Elder Leaves: Leaves from the Elder tree. ➳➳ Location: Often found in 5-9 leaflets. ➳➳➳ Uses: Turned into a poultice to soothe sprains.
➳ Fennel: Thin, spiky leaves. ➳➳ Location: Found in numerous places, especially on dry soils near the riverbanks. ➳➳➳ Uses: Stalks are broken and juice is squeezed into the receiver's mouth, helps pain in the hips.
➳ Goldenrod: A tall plant with bright, yellow flowers. ➳➳ Location: Grows in fields/moors. ➳➳➳ Uses: Chewed into a poultice for wounds.
➳ Horsetail: A tall, bristly-stemmed plant, referred to with fleshy stalks. ➳➳ Location: Marshy areas. ➳➳➳ Uses: Chewed to a poultice, and applied to wounds in hopes of curing infection and stopping any bleeding.
➳ Marigold: A low-growing flower; yellow to bright orange. ➳➳ Location: Near water. ➳➳➳ Uses: Petals or leaves chewed in a poultice, juice can be used as well; stops infection, stops bleeding, used for inflammation of stiff joints.
➳ Dried Oak Leaf: Round, ruffled leaves. ➳➳ Location: Forest floor. ➳➳➳ Uses: The dried leaves are to be stored in a dry location until the time of usage, when they are chewed into a thick poultice and spread on a wound to prevent infection.
➳ Ragwort Leaves: Tall shrub with yellow flowers. Tastes foul to people. ➳➳ Location: Everywhere, especially cool areas with high rainfall. ➳➳➳ Uses: Crushed and chewed; mixed with juniper berries, it can help aching joints and keep a person’s strength up.
➳ Raspberry Leaves: Soft to the touch, but with jagged edges. ➳➳ Location: Raspberry bushes. ➳➳➳ Uses: Could possibly ease pain, or stop bleeding.
➳ Rush: It has long narrow leaves and lavender-colored head stalks. ➳➳ Location: Infertile soils. ➳➳➳ Uses: Used to bind broken bones.
➳ Snakeroot: The best remedy for poison, especially snake bites. ➳➳ Location: Warmer areas. ➳➳➳ Uses: Thought to be applied to wounds to heal poison.
➳ Stick: Thin wooden protrusions that grow on and fall from trees. ➳➳ Location: Anywhere there's trees. ➳➳➳ Uses: people in pain bite it when other medicine is either unavailable or not recommended. Also used to help broken legs heal. Recommended for birthing mothers.
➳ Stinging Nettle: It has green, spiny seeds. ➳➳ Location: Forest. ➳➳➳ Uses: The seeds are eaten by a person who's swallowed poison to induce vomiting, or the leaves are chewed into a poultice for a wound. The stems can also be chewed to fight infection. Also brings down swelling.
➳ Tormentil: It has a strong, aromatic scent to it and a sharp taste. ➳➳ Location: Cool or cold areas. ➳➳➳ Uses: Chewed and put on the wound. Its root is good for treating all wounds and extracting poison.
➳ Wild Garlic: Due to its strong smell, it is good for hiding a cat's scent, and disguising people on raids. One must roll in it. ➳➳ Location: Forest entrance. ➳➳➳ Uses: Prevents infection, especially rat bites.
➳ Wintergreen: Easily identifiable by its red berries. ➳➳ Location: Oak-pine woods, sandy habitats and sub-alpine areas. ➳➳➳ Uses: Treats wounds and some poisons.
➳ Yarrow: A flowering plant. ➳➳ Location: Rocky areas. ➳➳➳ Uses: Its leaves are chewed into a poultice that can be given to people or applied to a wound depending on the situation. Extracts poison from wounds. Will make a person vomit up toxins. The ointment will soften and help heal cracked skin.

➳ Holly Berries: Plant with spiny leaves that produces red berries. ➳➳ Location: Forests. ➳➳➳ Uses: No medicinal value. Can kill a tot. ➳ Meadow Saffron: A plant with purple flowers. ➳➳ Location: Anywhere. ➳➳➳ Uses: Poisonous.
➳ Nightshade: A small shrub with faintly scented, bell-shaped flowers that are purple tinged with green in color, berries are shiny and black when ripe. ➳➳ Location: Moist, shady places. In soils rich with limestone. ➳➳➳ Uses: To kill a person who cannot be saved quickly.
➳ Water Hemlock: Green or white flowers with petals in umbrella-shaped clusters. ➳➳ Location: Wet, marshy areas. ➳➳➳ Uses: Causes writhing, pain, and foaming at the mouth.
Other Herbs:
➳ Beech Leaves: Large, broad leaves that can be serrated, entire or sparsely toothed. ➳➳ Location: Grows in almost any soil that is not waterlogged. ➳➳➳ Uses: Carrying other herbs.
➳ Bindweed: Arrow-head shaped leaves with pale white or pink trumpet shaped flowers, grows almost everywhere. ➳➳ Location: Anywhere. ➳➳➳ Uses: Fastens sticks to broken legs to keep them in place.
➳ The Blazing Star: A plant with spiky leaves and yellow flowers, whose five petals spread out separately and resemble a star. ➳➳ Location: Near pine forest. ➳➳➳ Uses: Cure unknown disease.
➳ Burnet: Has oval-shaped leaves with serrated edges. Stems grow 50-200cm tall, with large clusters of small flower buds on top. ➳➳ Location: Typically found in grassy meadows. ➳➳➳ Uses: A traveling herb to keep a person's strength up.
➳ Catchweed: A plant with fuzzy green balls on long stems. ➳➳ Location: Common in hedges and other low, shrubby vegetation. ➳➳➳ Uses: The burrs are put on bandages where poultices are to prevent them from rubbing off while preventing harm to the skin
➳ Chamomile: A small, white flower with a large, yellow center. ➳➳ Location: Found in sandy-like soil. In cooler areas. ➳➳➳ Uses: Strengthens the heart and soothes the mind. Also given to traveling people for strength.
➳ Cob Nuts: A smooth brown nut with a hard outside shell, a type of hazelnut. ➳➳ Location: Under hazel trees. ➳➳➳ Uses: Made into ointments.
➳ Daisy Leaf: Thick, dark green, oval shaped leaves. ➳➳ Location: Everywhere. ➳➳➳ Uses: Chewed into a paste, eases the pain of aching joints, it is also a travelling herb.
➳ Goatweed: Plant with ovate leaves. ➳➳ Location: Near water. ➳➳➳ Uses: Eases anxiety and grief.
➳ Heather Nectar: Nectar found in bell-shaped flowers. ➳➳ Location: Shady areas. ➳➳➳ Uses: Makes swallowing easier and sweetens mixtures of herbs.
➳ Ivy Leaf: Leaves from the ivy vine. ➳➳ Location: In the forest. ➳➳➳ Uses: Stores other herbs.
➳ Lamb's Ear: Soft, fuzzy green plant. ➳➳ Location: Mountains. ➳➳➳ Uses: Gives a person strength.
➳ Laurel Leaf: Green, glabrous leaves. ➳➳ Location: Forest. ➳➳➳ Uses: Making herb wraps.
➳ Mint: Downy, serrated leaves ranging from green to purple and yellow in color. Flowers are small and white or purple in color. ➳➳ Location: Forests. ➳➳➳ Uses: Rubbed on a dead body to hide the scent of death.
➳ Moss: A spongy, soft green shrub, commonly found on trees or marshy areas. ➳➳ Location: Abundant in forests and marshy locations. ➳➳➳ Uses: Soak up fluid.
➳ Mouse Bile: Foul smelling, yellowish-green liquid. ➳➳ Location: Stored in mouse. ➳➳➳ Uses: The liquid is stored in moss and dabbed onto ticks embedded in skin.
➳ Poppy Seeds: Tiny, round black seeds that are shaken out of a dried poppy flowerhead. ➳➳ Location: All over forest. ➳➳➳ Uses: They can help a person sleep, soothe shock or distress, or ease pain, not recommended for nursing mothers.
➳ Ragweed: Ragged-leaved plant resembling a fern. ➳➳ Location: Mountains. ➳➳➳ Uses: Gives a person extra strength and energy
➳ Rosemary: Tall with needle-like leaves and purple flowers. ➳➳ Location: Forest. ➳➳➳ Uses: Hides the scent of death.
➳ Sorrel: Similar to dock, sorrel is used as a traveling herb. ➳➳ Location: Rocky area. ➳➳➳ Uses: Eaten to bring up appetite
➳ Thyme: Small, delicate, thick, sticky leaves with a fresh tang. ➳➳ Location: Hot, sunny locations. ➳➳➳ Uses: Leaves can be chewed on. Calms nervousness, anxiety, and people who are in shock.
➳ Willow Bark: Bark of the willow tree. ➳➳ Location: Forest. ➳➳➳ Uses: Eases pain.
➳ Willow Leaves: Leaves of the willow tree. ➳➳ Location: Forest. ➳➳➳ Uses: Eaten, stops vomiting.
Remedies Without Herbs:
➳ Gently jabbing a person's spine or poking it hard with a knife tests to see if the backbone is broken. If the subject does not feel the jab, the the spine is broken. Many times a medicine person will have to jab the subject multiple times in different places to find the break..
➳ Washing a person with a wet cloth can help clean wounds, comfort/calm down a shocked or grieving person, and warm a person who had become cold.
➳ Soaking moss in water and holding the drilling moss before a stock, injured or weak person makes it easier for them to drink. Soaked moss and also be used to cool feverish people.
➳ Holding a swelling wound in cold water takes down swelling. People can also soothe scraped hands by soaking them in water.
➳ A person with weak or hurting muscles/bones can take part in water therapy. Have them wade in water that is not too deep or shallow, and eventually they'll get stronger.
➳ Having a sick person wail or scream keeps their lungs and chest clear of mucus.
Crafting Materials:
➳ Willow branches: Yielding and bendy, these branches are put to good use in crafting baskets and fishing rods.
➳ Clay: Can be found on the banks of the red stream, used for crafting pottery and mudbrick.
➳ Cedar wood: The best wood for making sturdy structures and other heavy-duty wooden objects.
➳ Fir wood: Another durable wood good for crafting and building, but can rot. More common than cedar wood.
➳ Pine wood: An abundant and easy to use wood.
➳ Ash wood: The best wood for crafting weapon and tool handles, stiff and dry.
➳ Pine boughs: Used for insulating buildings and making rudimentary beds on short notice.
➳ Reeds: Dried and used to thatch roofs.
➳ Obsidian: Good stone for making arrowheads, found in the mountains north of camp.
➳ Flint: Another stone for making arrowheads and hatchet heads, can also be used to start fires.
➳ Animal hides: Serve a number of purposes including making clothing, bags, bedding, etc.
➳ Animal fur: Some can be used to make textiles or as filler for pillows/bedding, in addition to feathers.
Ailments:
➳ Poisoning Poisoning is the ingestion of a substance that causes harm to the body. If only a small quantity of poison is ingested, the person usually just receives a bellyache, but larger amounts can cause death. If a person has been severely poisoned they may become unconscious for a length of time.
Treatment Medicine men/women treat these bellyaches with yarrow or nettle leaves, while mild bellyaches can be treated with juniper or watermint. To make a person potentially vomit the poison, immediately give them yarrow.
➳ Loss of sensory perception A person may lose their eyesight or hearing due to old age. Or from accidents and infections, or birth defects. These conditions usually end their career as a warrior, as they cannot hunt or fight efficiently, and must retire as elders. Tots born with defects usually die young, unless they have special skills compensating it. Tots that are white with blue eyes have a higher chance of being born deaf.
➳ Joint Aches A condition usually associated with elders, the joints gradually degenerating with age, causing pain and difficulty to move. Damp environments can cause the appearance of this condition.
Treatment Colts must make sure that the materials they gather for bedding is completely dry. It is usually treated using daisy or ragwort poultices.
➳ Toothache A toothache is caused by a cracked tooth, cavities, or an infection in the mouth.
Treatment Alder bark is used to soothe the pain.
➳ Fever Fever is an abnormally high temperature of the body. It is not a disease in itself, but it usually signs the presence of an infection.
Treatment If needed, it can be treated with feverfew, borage, or lavender.
➳ Chills Chills are mostly associated with cold weather or being submerged in cold water for a long period of time. Although this condition is mild and is not a disease, it has claimed lives. Tots and elders are more at risk of dying when they get a chill.
Treatment Keeping the person warm gets the blood flowing again. A poultice of lavender, catmint and feverfew is also a good remedy.
➳ Wounds Wounds are injuries when the skin and the muscles beneath are torn, cut, or punctured. They may put a person's life in danger due to blood loss, infections, or the damage of the organs. Wounds are the most common injuries, due to the people always fighting enemy Clans, badgers, or foxes. Minor wounds heal on their own in no time, but severe wounds must be treated by a medicine man/woman.
Treatment This treatment includes cleaning it thoroughly, stopping the bleeding by pressing cobwebs on it, and applying poultices to prevent infection and help it to heal. Herbs used in the poultices include goldenrod, marigold, burdock root or wild garlic. If the wound becomes infected, chervil or horsetail is used as well. The pain can be eased with poppy seeds or willow bark.
➳ Sprains Sprains are injuries to ligaments of a joint, caused by being stretched beyond their normal capacity and possibly torn. It causes severe pain and decreased ability to move the joint.
Treatment The person must rest for several days.
➳ Joint dislocation Joint dislocation is the displacement of a bone from its normal joint.
Treatment Medicine men/women treat this condition by first feeding the patient poppy seeds to make them sleepy so they don't feel it as much, and then forcing the limb back into the joint.
➳ Broken Bones A broken bone is usually the result of an accident, such as falling down from a high place. People most often break their legs, and while medicine men/women try to bind the bone with cobwebs, the injury usually results in the person remaining crippled for the rest of their life. A more severe injury is when a person breaks their backbone. This results in the person being unable to feel or move parts of their body. If the break is bad enough the person will be killed on or shortly after impact.
Treatment It is best to possibly make the patient swim in shallow water in hopes of exercising the injured limb or coming up with exercises to fit the patient's need.
The Warrior Code:
1. Defend your Clan, even with your life. You may have friendships with people from other Clans, but your loyalty must remain to your Clan, as one day you may meet them in battle.
2. Do not hunt or trespass on another Clan's territory.
3. Elders, mothers, sick or injured clamnates and tots must be fed before colts and warriors. Unless they have permission, colts may not eat until they have hunted to feed the elders.
4. Prey is killed only to be eaten. Give thanks to StarClan for its life.
5. A tot must be at least six moons old to become a colt.
6. Newly appointed warriors will keep a silent vigil for one night after receiving their warrior name.
7. A clanmember cannot be made deputy without having mentored at least one apprentice.
8. The deputy will become Clan leader when the leader dies, retires, or is exiled.
9. After the death, retirement, promotion (to a leader status), or exile of the deputy, the new deputy must be chosen before moonhigh.
10. A Gathering of all Clans is held at the full moon during a truce that lasts for the night. There shall be no fighting among Clans at this time.
11. Boundaries must be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespassing cats.
12. No warrior can neglect a tot in pain or danger, even if the tot is from a different Clan.
13. The word of the Clan leader is the warrior code.
14. An honorable warrior does not need to kill other people to win their battles, unless they are outside the warrior code or if it is necessary for self-defense.
15. Each Clan has the right to be proud and independent, but in times of trouble they must forget their boundaries and fight side by side to protect the Clans. Each Clan must help the others so that no Clan will fall.

ORIGINS Viperclan and Nettlecan are bitter rivals. The story goes that the founders of the two clans, Viperstrike and Nettlecloak were once children together. This was before tribes, when the people of the area lived independently across the land. Viperstrike and Nettlecloak's families had farms not far apart. And they protected each other against predators and raiders. Viperstrike was a young man who excelled at hunting large game while Nettlecloak was a fierce warrior, particularly with a spear. When they were old enough to mate, they lay together. But then leafbare came. It was a bitter cold unlike the land had seen in generations. To feed his starving family, Viperstrike snuck onto the land of Nettlecloak's family and killed one of their horses. When she discovered what her former lover had done, she swore to vengeance more powerful than one man or woman could muster. And soon what began as a feud between families turned into tribal war, and eventually the clans took shape.
ATTRIBUTES Nettleclan now resides beyond the low mountain range on the western border of Viperclan's territory. Their land is more heavily forested, with no moors or plains to speak of. It is a darker territory, better protected by a thick canopy of oaks and pines. The elk and deer shelter there in leafbare, meaning Nettleclan thrives in the colder months. But they do not have the abundance of herbs and crafting materials that Viperclan does. While Viperclan has a reputation for intrepid and reckless warriors, Nettleclan is more known for their guile and cleverness. They are a hearty folk with deep pride.
For the purposes of the rp, Nettleclan is constructed entirely of NPCs. Perhaps in the future, we can add OCs to their ranks to serve the plot. Feel free to godmod with all of these characters to serve your posts. More may be added with time. Assume it is comparable in size to Viperclan.

PLOTS
- Marestar, upon becoming leader ten years ago, refused to select a deputy. She claimed that Starclan warned her of her selection, therefore decided to wait until the proper person presented his or herself. But that time has not come. The clan has become anxious, especially with Marestar growing older. At the start of greenleaf, she declared she would be selecting a deputy, but only after invoking an archaic process called the Deputy Trials. These serve to test candidates by putting them through a number of tests.
- Tensions with Nettleclan are growing. Apparently a mysterious illness has struck the rival clan's camp, and they request permission to enter Viperclan's territory to pick the remedy herbs. Their intentions are somewhat questionable, but Marestar maintains that allowing sick people to die would go against the warrior code.

BRITTLECOLT ➳ location: camp, status: alone “Mousebrain,” Brittlecolt whispered under his breath. If overheard, it would be impossible to tell who the insult was intended for, or if Brittlecolt was referring to himself. What was clear, however, was that the apprentice was in a sour mood. He stalked along the grassy hill overlooking camp, under the shadow of the towering pine tree. Every few steps he would stop to pick up a fallen branch or twig. He had a small pile going. It was his task of the day, to collect as much firewood as possible. This was the root of his anger, as there were a hundred tasks Brittlecolt would rather be doing than picking up sticks.
But he did so even as the sun began to float down to the western mountains. He intended to confront his mentor upon returning to camp. He had the whole conversation planned out, and rehearsed such phrases as, “Next time, you can ask one of the craftsmen to collect their own wood.” And, “I signed up to be a fighter. None of this is teaching me how to fight.”
Eventually his arms grew too full to pick up anymore twigs, and the sky was threatening to turn dusky pink. Brittlecolt picked his way down the hill, careful not to fall and scatter his day’s work across the tall grasses. He bitterly noted the column of smoke rising from the center of camp. This was his fourth or fifth trip down to feed the woodpile, and he knew most of his labor had already turned to ash and been scattered to the wind.
As he wove through the familiar gathering of mudhouses, he noted the sound of laughter and chatter emanating from around the camp. That meant his clanmates were beginning to settle in for the evening. Soon the patrols would be returning and dinner would be put on the fire. The mere thought of it made his stomach growl.
As if on cue, he heard commotion coming from the entrance of camp and turned his head to see the hunting patrol returning. Ironfeather was at its head. The large provider was guiding his horse by its mane rather than sitting in the saddle. Draped over the back was the limp body of a deer, a young buck with velvety antlers. Brittlecolt stepped aside on the worn path, watching wordlessly as the providers passed, and feeling a pang of jealousy.
Then he followed them to the center of camp and tossed his armful of dried branches into the woodpile. At very least, he thought, we'll need the fire to cook that deer.
PAINTEDBROW ➳ location: camp, status: alone Evening was beginning to darken the sky, but Paintedbrow was restless. She had spent most of the afternoon sleeping and ironically was just beginning to waken fully. It was the heat of greenleaf that made her want to lounge throughout the day and roam the wilderness at night. This is what she had convinced herself, at least.
She sat now on a simple wooden bench overlooking the main fire in the center of camp. A shawl was wrapped around her shoulders, its length pooled in her lap. She felt nauseated but blamed it on the hunger she had failed to satiate throughout the day. Thankfully the providers had just arrived with fresh kill. Ironfeather was hauling a deer to be skinned, and a few of the others carried rabbits and squirrels. She planned to eat something before taking her nightly walk. It would only make her belly grow, but there was no prolonging the inevitable. Soon she would have to see one of the medicine people to divulge her secret. For now, however, she was content in pretending everything was the same as it had always been.
She noticed her younger brother arriving in camp. He was like a shadow until he stepped into the light of the fire, which glinted off his ebony skin. He seemed angry and she guessed immediately why after spotting the firewood he carried. She stifled a smile. Brittlecolt hated the daily tasks that the clan needed to do but which were not as fun as fight training or patrolling. She elected not to lecture him, even though his young brow was pinched and his slight shoulders set. He would learn in time, she knew. And no amount of counseling from his older clanmates would help him see the light prematurely.
She busied her hands by pulling the shawl more tightly around her shoulders. A cool breeze billowed through camp. A dozen dancing lights glinted in her amber eyes as the craftsmen set about lighting the torches over the mudhouse doors.
There was no sign of Marestar, and Paintedbrow guessed their leader was still on a patrol. The older woman was as dutiful as any in camp. The young guard had noticed an even greater uptick in her activity, however, as the deputy trials approached. Soon Marestar's successor would be chosen and the clan's longstanding wishes satisfied. But Paintedbrow supposed the leader was growing apprehensive as the time approached. She was used to commanding on her own, and soon her power would be diminished as she fulfilled her duty of passing on the proverbial torch.

FLETCHCOLT➳ Camp ➳ Ironfeather ➳ ℊℓоω 'Way to go,' Fletchcolt sucked her bottom lip defiantly through her teeth to prevent it from quivering, 'we would have had two deer if I hadn't been so distracted!' In a typical fashion for the young provider apprentice, she took the time to be harsh on herself even when others weren't. Given time she would bounce back resiliently but before that step could be taken she had to follow through the routine; get defiantly upset, play through all the possible solutions that would have prevented said thing she was upset about, then a surge of determination would bring her back to life. She could feel the hungry stares of her clanmates as she walked a few paces behind her mentor and she kept her dark brown eyes strictly ahead in an attempt to not make any eye contact with anyone. Ironfeather was an esteemed provider and clan mate who she admired deeply, when she made a mistake during a hunt she felt it harder than anyone would imagine. She busied herself by replaying the mistake in her mind. She pulled back the arrow and lined it up, then... she hesitated a moment too long. The deer became alerted and dashed - the arrow soared past, a heartbeat too late.
Since that morn she'd been feeling distracted but it was even a mystery to her why that was. She'd had a restless night of tossing and turning - usually Brittlecolt's soft snores would lull her into a sleep however it hadn't been the case. She resented the idea of visiting Wolfsight or Dayspring when all she needed to do was snap out of it. Setting her jaw, she resolved that she was being idiotic. 'I'll go out after we eat and practice again'.
The center of camp opened into a clearing, it was rather a hub for those who had finished their duties for the day, and they would linger nearby the bonfire to discuss unimportant topics. In the center of the clearing was the fire, a relatively large one that was being tended to by providers who had stayed back from the hunt. The clearing was well-trodden and only had sprigs of grass shooting up from the dusty earth, the huts nearby were home to mothers and elders who were most at risk should the camp be invaded; the huts furthest from the center housed those who were strongest during a battle. Fletchcolt sauntered to her mentors side as the deceased deer was handed over to the providers who were on cooking duties, and she looked up to Ironfeather with brown eyes ablaze. "Sorry I missed the second deer, Ironfeather. Next time I'll get it for sure," to express her enthusiasm she brought one hand up and clenched it into a fist, "I've been practicing really hard; I won't let you down again!"
Her skill at her young age was already admirable, but her hard work and determination came with a loss of youthful playfulness. She wasn't one to joke or maintain deeply personal relationships - she was strictly business, though it was almost sad to see how little joy she expressed. She lowered her fist to her side and straightened and back, it hadn't taken long, but she had reached the determination faze. "Is there anything else you need me to do?" She asked.
JACKDAWHEART ➳ Camp ➳ Alone ➳ Open to interaction From the sounds of joyous commotion growing among the camp, Jackdawheart could only imagine that the providers had returned for the evening. His pink lips turned upwards into a smile and he quietly turned his attention back to the basket he was meticulously weaving. He was trying a new technique that he'd mused whilst he'd been dozing in the warmth of the sun during the day. Using flexible willow twigs he was spinning a solid, flat base and he would use flexible reeds to create a malleable basket wall, then he would use those same materials to create a lid. Such a sturdy yet flexible basket would be well suited for carrying bulk items where the pliable reed walls would allow for give if the item was oddly shaped. His mind was often formulating new creative ideas for different types for crafting, so seeing the tall, dark-haired man alone with his brows furrowed in thought as he used to hands to craft was no strange sight.
His tongue escaped his lips, flicking out as his concentration deepened. Using the last few centimeters of a willow stick, he finished the base of his basket and smiled softly to himself. It is sturdy... perhaps it could be fitted to the back of a mare... his cornflower blue eyes seemed to widened as thoughts began milling into his head in an unordered fashion, no! A hard, flat base such as this would be uncomfortable on a mares back! It'd need to use pelts to create a sort of... fur basket. His smiled deepened and dimples formed onto his pale cheeks. I'll ask the providers for some more pelts and give it a go.
Reaching down, Jackdawheart's fingertips brushed dusty earth. He turned his head and gave a quiet sigh, before I get the pelts I need to gather more reeds from the river. Before he stood and embarked on the journey, he rose his head and admire his surroundings. He was seated a noticeable distance from the clearing, where he was alone but had a view of the going-on among his clan. Just as he'd thought, the providers were beginning to prepare the meal. Nearby, Wolfsight was walking with a slight limp - Jackdawheart narrowed his eyes; Wolfsight hadn't been limping last he saw - but the old man was headed towards the mothers hut. Probably doing a routine check on the tots. Fletchcolt had a sour look upon her countenance that Jackdawheart recognized well from the apprentice and even he was able to let out the softest of laughs - Fletchcolt seemed to mentor herself, and Ironfeather was merely her guide.
Finally, Jackdawheart placed his hands on his knees and pushed himself to his feet. He stood quite tall and would have been a formidable guard if he had the muscled build to match his height, alas, he was lean and thin. He turned and bent down to gather and tidy his belongings before he began for the camp entrance.

Dayspring hums softly to herself as she goes through her herbs. She doesn't keep a lot of fresh herbs since they go bad so easily. Most of her herbs she finds, she dries. The only problem with that, though is that every time she uses the herbs, she needs to use more since drying out herbs lessens their effect. She decides to go looking for more herbs. After all, you can't have too much stock. Dayspring likes to put herbs in meals. Herbs that'll keep the clan strong and healthy, of course, but that also takes up stock. Rummaging through the herbs she already had, she notices she didn't have much borage leaves. They needed borage leaves since it helps produce milk. Dawnbreaker was a current mother who no longer needed breast milk, but due there being tots that are still 2 years old, they tend to get fevers more frequently, which means they always needed to keep a good stock of borage leaves.
"Hm... I should get some coltsfoot, borage leaves, feverfew, catchweed, chamomile, moss, oak leaf and wintergreen..." she murmurs quietly. The young female wondered who she'd ask to come with her. She couldn't just go roaming without a guard. That would be plain stupid. If she did that, she'd be in big trouble if she ever ran into a predator. She didn't have the strength or the ability to fight. It's one of the things she's annoyed at. Fighting has never been her forte. She can barely defend herself. That's how bad she is at it. Plus, she doesn't have the strength to use weapons. All she could use was a dagger, and even then, it's mostly used on collecting herbs. "Let a provider go get it, or go with a guard...?" she murmurs to herself once more. "I'll just go by myself."
This last decision was based on two things. First, a provider may not know where to find the herbs or what the herbs look like. It was too much to try to teach them too. Second, a guard might not be available to go with her. Therefore, she might as well take the risk to go on her own. That way, she can just find what she needs quickly. Although there are a lot of risks, she did need to stock up on the herbs, so she'll just take it. If she comes across a predator, she'll think about it then. After rummaging through her herbs, it was messy. She ignores it, and grabs her daggers. One goes to her hip. The other, strapped to her leg.
