As i promised to Chicken , here we have a full research of Toadstep's character.
As a kitten:
-During Millie's kitting, he asks if there's blood. A bit morbid if you ask me.
-As a kit, we see that he's a bit proud, and maybe blunt. He openly boasts that Bumblekit is going to play wih him when he's older, and then bluntly says Blossomkit should be called Squealkit because that's all she does.
-He's always eager to go into battle, and even openly states if he can go to battle, after the suprise attack of WindClan in OotS instead of comforting Blossomkit, Bumblekit and Briarkit like his sister. He's even disappointed that he couldn't get to see the battle.
-He's shown to be a bit stubborn, as when he's helped by Daisy to get into the ground, we see that he opnely retorts he could have walked down himself. He runs away and almost crashes into Graystripe, who asks him if he can make sure Millie has enough moss in her nest, and he eagerly bounces away.
-He asks Lionpaw if he can teach him some battle moves. In the next book, Long Shadows, he's seen sparring with Rosekit, pretending to be a WindClan warrior.
-When Rosekit is on the abandoned twoleg nest due to being ill, Toadkit wails desperately that he wants to go see his sister.
-He's seen sparring with Rosekit again.
-Jayfeather comes to the nursery to check the queens and kits for fleas, and Toadkit gives him trouble, distracting Blossomkit and finally succeeding in catching Jayfeather's tail and pestering him with questions.
Note that one of the biggest things noticed about his character is that he's hardly unfazed by the thought of battle. He's a bit stubborn and blunt.
The next book of him, The Fourth Apprentice, already shows him as a warrior.
As a warrior:
-He's seen helping his Clan after the tree falls into the camp, repairing the elder's den.
-The cats go out to collect materials to use, and Ivypaw asks Toadstep to watch her slide three tail-lengths down the slope on her belly. Toadstep, who is clearly amused, thinks she looks like a duck. He's seen as a bit of a jokester.
-On the same scene, he's asked by Whitewing that since he's getting along with Ivypaw so well, they might as well gather bedding together. He embrassingly agrees.
-Toadstep participates in the battle against ShadowClan. He fights against Tigerheart.
-The next book, he participates in 3 hunting patrols. Later that day, he helps drive away a fox that invades the camp.
-He's seen carrying leaves into the camp, the skin clinging into his bones. He's noted to be extremely exhausted.
-He assists on the search for Ivypaw when she dissapears.
This is one of the moments people know him mostly for:
-He goes on a hunting patrol with Lionblaze and Rosepetal. He is very enthusiastic and tries to be just like Lionblaze, as Lionblaze is like a role-model to him. It is noted that Lionblaze thinks that Toadstep would be ripped to shreds if he tried to fight like him.
-Later, when Bumblestripe is attacked by a dog, he helps save him.
-In The Forgotten Warrior, he's seen on a small hunting patrol with Mousewhisker, Icecloud, and Dovewing. He boasts that he can jump higher than any cat.
-Later, the cats start races and he has an astonished face once he sees Dovewing win, although he gives an aproving nod afterwards.
-It is noted by Mousewhisker that Toadstep is a very fast runner.
-When Sol is going to visit ShadowClan, he arrives in time to hear Millie mutter that Sol should eat ShadowClan's fresh-kill instead of theirs. Toadstep protests, saying they were being unfair to Sol, still believing he was the one who saved the apprentices.
-Blossomfall outwits Toadstep on a training session.
-Later, Toadstep is one of the warriors Hollyleaf takes with her on the first underground tunnel patrol. Hollyleaf uses a new move on him, and Toadstep gets a few bruises. When practicing finding their way out of the tunnels, he gets lost and yowls in a panic.
Dovewing's Silence:
-Almost a moon later of The Great Battle, Toadstep steps out at dawn, squinting at the early light. He complains he cannot remember the last time he got a good sleep, since Sandstorm has kept the warriors up with her coughing for three nights.
-Berrynose whispers to him that he cannot believe Bramblestar brought Blossomfall and Thornclaw to a Gathering. Toadstep flicks his tail and says the other Clans have killed most of their traitors, and wonders if they should do the same. Note that he hisses in this scene, wich is a sign of agression.
-Towards the end of the book, he gets ill of greencough and starts eating less and less.
He passes away the book later.
After reading this, what is your opinion on him overall?
