 Welcome!
The sound of the radio rings through the city in every home as the sun paints the sky with blue and pink clouds. The familiar voice of the probending announcer echoes giving everyone their daily news and a break from the roar of life.
"Hello everyone and thank you for tuning into Republic City news! It has been ten years since the Avatar was last heard of and we seem to be doing just fine without them. Still, no one knows exactly what happened and if you want honesty ladies and gentlemen I don't think many of us are too concerned!
In other news, we have had an increase in the number of The Union of Chiblockers gatherings and attacks on the different bender gangs. They seem to have picked up the torch our last Avatar dropped. Tensions are high between benders and nonbenders but so far peace looks to be a constant! Good looking out everyone!
Speaking of looking out, probending season is around the corner, and let me tell you Republic City! We've got some strong competitors this time around. With the new element of airbenders added this season after years of demanding equality the nomads finally got their wish! We hope to see as many people filling the stands for our first Matches of the season!

(gonna post a starter! apologies if my replies might be a bit slow! i'm away from my computer for most the day. currently only able to write something for kaida whoops. my mind kinda blanked on eshin)
Kaida
The sweltering afternoon sun made many shy away from the open streets. Kaida was one of those people, wiping away sweat from her brow as she nibbled on a meat skewer she bought from a stall a block away. She sat on a bench pressed up against an alleyway, one hand on the skewer and another now resting lightly on her thigh. Her eyes followed the cars that passed by, sometimes lingering on whoever was unlucky enough to be caught without a parasol out on the sidewalk. She was pointedly ignoring the groans and grunts of the men behind her.
A truck was parked by an open warehouse and workers were piling up unmarked crates inside. A man in a smartly dressed blue suit kept track of them with a checklist. After a few moments, he clicked his tongue and turned towards her. "You did good, girlie. Got everything we asked for right." When she didn't respond, he chuckled and dug his hand into his jacket, bringing out a pouch. It was its clinking contents that finally drew Kaida's attention.
Leaving the skewer in her mouth, she caught the pouch with both hands and began counting the yuans inside. It took a moment for her to take the wooden stick out of her mouth and turn back at the man. "You're short. We agreed on 80."
"Ah, but that was getting them on time. You get 60." It was a blatant excuse. She was always on time.
Without missing a beat, Kaida stood up, hand on her sword hilt. Before she could go any further though, the man crossed his arms and whistled, signalling the men in the truck to stand behind him. It was four against one now and their intimidating stares made her sure that they would not back down. Though she had faced more in the past, she knew it was unwise to anger one of the triads of Republic City, especially one that controlled the burrows where her apartment building stood. They stared off for one more moment before she relaxed her grip on her sword and turned her back on them, taking the pouch with her. She began to walk away, wanting to get out of this hot alleyway and back to her cool room to plan her next move.
His smarmy voice called out to her just before she left. "You know, you could always earn more if you worked with us officially. We always welcome someone of your talents."
She looked over her shoulder, raising a hand in a wave before walking off and crossing the street. "Not interested."

Ryuu hummed to himself as he leaned against the wall and watched the food vendors across the street. He licked the bottom of his lip as he thought about the delicious food waiting for him. Ideally, he could pay for it but where's the fun in that? Ryuu glances up and sees his hawk cleaning herself on a street light. A plan was coming together in his head, a plan that would 100% work.
After a while, he whistles and holds his arm out. However, his pet did not land which only made him sigh. He whistles once more a little louder, and this time his bird rests on his arm. "I swear you are something else. Look, in a few minutes I'm going to walk over to one of the stalls and you are going to swoop in distract the merchant and I'll swoop in and grab us a snack. What do ya say?" His hawk doesn't seem to be paying attention and just stares and ruffles her feathers. "I'll snatch up something warm like duck or chicken." The mention of meat made her perk up and she lets out a little noise.

Tonight was a big night it was the first probending match of the season and Gema was ready. Well at least she hoped she was. She'd been training everyday for the past few weeks. After all the more she won the more she'd get paid in the end. So she'd spent most of her morning in the training area, only leaving to grab a snack. Midday rolled round and it was time for her to rest for the big night. After all, she didn't want to be so sore she couldn't perform at her best. So it was time to eat a real meal. Grabbing her bag she threw it into a locker, let her hair loose and grabbed her day bag that didn't have her uniform shoved in it and headed out into the sitting. Her hand moved up to cover her eyes as the sun light hit the earth bender. Blinking for a moment she adjusted and headed to her favorite café and grabbed a real meal.
Once she was there she shoveled food into her mouth, paid, and left as usual leaving a nice tip for the little old women who ran the place. Gema helped out in her off time from probending since the women treated her like a daughter most of the time. She had to run out to avoid having her tip given back to her. Heading to her apartment she took a nap making sure to set an alarm to get up. If she was late it would ruin everything. Hours past and evening rolled in when she woke up she found herself wrapped around the small pygmy puma that had found its way into her home and eventually her heart a few weeks ago. It was still rather young but most days it roamed the streets returning at night. "Well good morning Bo, my good boy. Look at you coming to nap with me." She rubbed the animal's head affectionately before pushing herself out of bed. "I'd love to stay and snuggle but I've got a big game!" The girl dropped a bowl of food down and ran out the door.
Getting ready took no time at all, hair up, uniform on and she was ready to go. She could hear the crowds cheering from outside the lockers and the other teams talking smack to each other. But Gema chose for once to take a moment and find the calm within herself before meeting up with her teammates. Republic City Catgators. A big name in the probending world and this was only her second season after the old earthbender was injured beyond repair in a match. No one new for sure but everyone figure there was some kind of fowl play from the other team that had caused the break to be as bad as it was. Poor guy wasn't going to bend for a while.
It was there turn, time to show the city what they were made of. The bell went off the crowd went wild and so did they. Dodging a water whip she rolled off the back of her firebending teammate and bent several rock disks at the opposing teams water bender. Very quickly she managed to knock him back several steps putting him out of zone one. The match went on for about ten minutes and in what looked like a landslide the Catgators won. That meant it was time for her to celebrate with her team for the first win of the season. So to the near by ramen bar it was. The night moved on and her teammates went home. Gema stayed behind to relax and enjoy her third bowl.

A large train slowly ground to a halt at Central City Station, in downtown Republic City. There were countless boxcars, hauling a mixture of mostly finished automobiles and large wooden crates filled with various bulk goods for the many companies and businesses that called Republic City home. The many railroad workers busied themselves unloading each of the boxcars and setting the goods outside. There was one last car that needed to be opened. A man unlocked the large sliding door on the side of the boxcar, and started to pull it open. Before he could get it opened all the way, a large, fur mass erupted from within, sending the door flying to the side. Sitting on top of the mass was a man. “Hurry Haruto!” He yelled, and the giant Eagledog unfurled his wings and took to the skies, the yelling voices of the workers quickly fading as they drew farther away.
Kazan, the man sitting on top of the flying dog, let out a loud laugh and pat the furry should of his mount. “We did it Haruto! We finally made it to Republic City, the place were dreams can become a reality.” The dog turned his enormous head around to look at Kazan, panting happily with his tongue hanging out. “Firstly, we need to get cleaned up, we are a mess. Constantly on the road really gets you dirty.” The man said and looked down at his clothes, seeing how filthy and ragged they were. “And a new pair of clothes too.” He added.
After spending a good hour or two getting some new clothes and taking a long bath, Kazan and Haruto began to explore the town, walking along countless streets, looking through windows of various businesses. “This place is beautiful, buddy.” Kazan said in amazement, which Haruto answered with a loud ‘woof’ in agreement. “I can’t wait to see the Pro Bending arena. Maybe I’ll get the chance to see a match, and hopefully find a team to try out for......” He trailed off as his jaw dropped, laying eyes on the beautiful and massive building. “The Pro Bending Arena.” He said in wonderment. “I finally get to see it!” He noticed several people walking into the large building, and hurriedly followed after them, realizing there must be a match tonight. As he went to pay for his ticket, the man behind the counter said “No pets.” Kazan glanced his head over his shoulder, looking at Haruto, before looking back at the man. “But, but he’s a fan of the sport.” he lied. The man rolled his eyes, and repeated his statement louder. “No pets.”
Kazan scratched Haruto behind his ears. “Sorry buddy, you heard the man. Can you stay out of trouble while I’m in here?” The large dog gave him a look like ‘You’re the one always getting in trouble, I am always getting you out of it’, but took flight, soaring high above the building. Kazan quickly paid for his ticket and made his way to his seat. He glanced up at the glass ceiling far above them, and narrowed his eyes slightly when he saw a dark shape sitting on top of it. He let out a laugh when he picked out the shape of a massive dog, and an enormous face pressed up against the glass, looking down at the crowd below.
The teams came out and started their match. Kazan kept his eyes on the earth bender for the Catgators, amazed at her skills and how effortlessly she bended. Within ten minutes, the Catgators had already won their match, completely dominating the other team, from start to finish. “Wow” he said to himself, before joining the rest of the crowd in their cheers. After filing out of the building, which took forever due to the huge crowd, Kazan searched for a place to eat. As he walked through the doors of a building, his eyes immediately laid on Gema, and he made his way to a table near where she sat. “I caught your match earlier, very well done.” He commented after he was seated, flashing her a small smile.

Enjoying the time by herself Gema slurped away at her noodles. Letting a a soft sigh she'd finished her third bowl. Dessert would be next, she always had space for that. No matter how fully she was already. Taking a sip of the cold tea she had she paused as someone sat at the table beside hers. Her green gaze turning to rest on, a fan. For a moment she was quiet and luckily the waitress came over asking is she wanted anything else. Gema ordered herself a piece of cake and a refill for her tea.
Her attention returned to the guy who had obviuosly made it a point to seat himself near her. "Thanks, it was the first match of the season. So I had to show off a little." Gema was used to fans by now, after all once she'd joined the Catgators her popularity had gone through the roof. Their team had been failing pretty bad until recently so she'd made quite a name for herself. She just said it was because they didn't find the right fit for the other teammates. Although she also bragged about being the best in tryouts and how she put everyone else to shame. "I train almost everyday so I'm glad it paid off and that you enjoyed it." Taking another drink from her cup she was quiet again for a little bit, his excitement told her he was either a huge fan or is was his first game. Or both who knew. "First match in person?" The woman asked watching as the waitress came back to her table bringing her order. The girl turned her attention to Kazan asking for his order now.

A typical day fore the Spirit Yei Sen was wandering around the city, barefoot without a care in the world. Humming softly she skipped down alleyway completly unaware that anything could happen to her on her own like this. She was a spirit after all what would they do? She was just having a great time in her own little world. Until she spotted a man and his bird. Her eyes watched him for a little bit, it was like he was conversing with the bird. Humans couldn't do that could they? Interesting. She shifted rather quickly to watch the man and his hawk. Stealing?
Didn't people have what they called money? She'd seen people exchange it for things before, she may not been from this world but she knew stealing wasn't right. It wasn't any of her business though. And if she was being honest she'd stolen a few things before on accident she though you were just able to take things that was why they were laid out so nicely. But she'd been wrong. Maybe he needed more help than she thought just looking at him. Sitting down she watched the events unfold, how was he going to get that bird to help him. Food seemed to be a good promise, she was always ready for food herself. More so when it was given to her.

Today had already been a busy day for the business. In and out of meetings nonstop already left him exhausted and it wasn't over yet. It was time for a well earned break from it all. He canceled his last two meetings and no one made any protests in fear of loosing their jobs. Nukon wasn't the nicest guy and most times made sure that everyone who worked for his families company knew that. Of course good pay ensured that most people stayed thankfully. Maybe his attitude had something to do with the recent pay increase his father had authorized. He didn't understand why people need to be paid more, in fact Nukon thought they should do their jobs right and then get paid. But that wasn't up to him. Not yet at least.
Leaving his office he had his way out into the city. His eyes landed on what seemed to be some kind of deal going on in the alley beside the factory. From the looks of it something wasn't right, and he could tell it was some kind of Triad thing too. How many times was he going to tell them not to do their business near his. He had made deals in the past and the more business to conducted near him the easier it would be to make connections. Frowning he walked over to the four men, gave them choice words and moments later each one was on the ground and halfway across the alleyway.
Wiping sweat from his brow he kicked the leader as he tried to get up, "Do your business somewhere else or next time, I'll make sure you and none of your men can move again." He grabbed a small pouch of money from the man who was now holding his ribs on the ground. He'd watched her count the money and it seemed that not only were they doing business where he'd told them not to but shorting the people who worked for them. Not that he cared too much, but just as an extra jab at the gang members he was going to give that girl the extra money she was owed. Jogging across the street he managed to catch up. "Hey you. Girl." Nukon called, "You don't work for them, but don't make deals in front of my business, especially if you aren't going to get your full payment." He tossed the bag of coins at her. "I didn't get it because I care. I don't. I just don't like them even more."
