The Stargazer - Open

The Stargazer was once a LunaTech transport boat that was taken by Captain name and their crew at the time. It has since been redesigned, though the outside has been kept rather unchanged in an effort to blend in with the other LunaTech ships. The massive ship has three levels. The top level (referred to as "Top" by the crew) houses the command center, the armory, and an anti gravity training room that doubles as a spot for recreational sports games and parties. The middle level (the "Mid") houses crew bunks - two per room - as well as other necessities for living, such as the cafeteria, showers, clinic, and rec room. The lowest level (the "Low") houses the prisons, the farm, and much of the parts that make the ship run.

LunaTech was created in 2030 with aims to be the first people to make contact with a recently discovered alien species on a recently discovered planet. They accomplished this, and spoke on behalf of the human race. Things were wonderful at first. Luna's scientists learned to communicate with the aliens and established a relationship, including trade with them.

Now, trade with the aliens is commonplace, as well as other space travel - the moon is actually known to have quite nice resorts these days - but one name has risen about the rest. LunaTech, now run by Caspian Wellrider, has monopolized the space travel industry, whether it's transporting goods, people, or services, and charge more than anyone can truly afford. While some have attempted to stand up to Luna, their ships dominate the airspace with their advanced tech and weaponry.

Octopus terrestris, or Octers, as most people call them since we don't know what name they use for themselves, were named for the superficial fact that they have eight limbs - three primarily used as arms, four primarily used as legs, and one used as both a leg and a prehensile tail. Octers tend to be brightly colored and a little taller than the average human.

The similarities between Octers and earthly octopuses aren't as common as originally thought:

For one, they primarily live on the surface of their planet, and can only be underwater for a certain amount of time. They also build their civilizations to cover both the ground and the tree tops.

They seem to communicate either through body language or telepathically, as researchers have never witnessed a conversation between Octers. However, limited advanced tech has given their leaders a device that lets them speak in multiple major human languages.

Octers tend to be primarily herbivores, though they do consume meat on occasion.

Octers tend to be a more peaceful species. They have very little fighting (that we've witnessed) among themselves, and only attack humans that they perceive to be a threat. However, they're also extremely dangerous when they do fight.

They're strong, fast, have camouflage abilities, and night vision. It's unknown how, but any humans that have come in contact with the Octers and have earned their respect are gifted with some or all of those abilities. Those people are marked with a splash of brightly colored hair among their normal hair color. While this is something frowned upon on Earth, it's highly respected in space.

The planet Tantum was discovered shortly after space travel became a priority for the human race. Though located in our galaxy, it was never noticed due to the camouflage abilities of the inhabitants. After first making contact with Earth, the Octers allowed their home to become visible. Though it hasn't been very well explored by humankind, what researchers have been able to figure out is that it's very Earth-like. The biggest difference between Earth and Tantum is the lack of species diversity on Tantum. Tantum is much smaller and consists of one land mass and one ocean.

Captains: Pretty self explanatory. The captains run the ship and their word is law. [Mara & Minos]

Officers: The second in commands. They handle a lot of day to day work and work closely with the other members of the crew. In the absence, death, or injury of the captains, they take control. [2/3 Open]

Doctors: The doctors all have professional medical training. While all crew members are expected to know basic first aid, the doctors are there to handle any major injuries or sickness. [1/3 Open]

Mechanics: The mechanics know the ship inside and out. They know all the secrets and are responsible for keeping things in running shape, whether it's minor maintenance or handling whatever pops up. They also have training in piloting the ship. [1/3 Open]

Scientists: The scientists have their own specialties and work with other positions, but they're also responsible for general research within their specialty. [1/3 Open]

Pilots: The pilot pair flies the ship, one focusing on the actual navigation and flight, while the other mans the weapons and shields. [1/2 Open]
