What are some scenarios that can make this series sad?
One way this series can be really sad is by having a character going through all these struggles or suffers almost their whole life, and just when they have finally achieved their goal and finally happy, they end up killed immediately after, maybe even having them not achieve their goal at all is depressing.
Another way I think would be sad is if a cat made a choice that eventually cause someone else who is important to them getting killed.

I think killing young kits that had their whole lives ahead of them is really depressing.
Badgerfang and Snowkit are great examples of this.

I found Swiftpaw and Gorsepaw particularly depressing cases.
Swiftpaw had warriorhood deprived from him by his ludicrous leader and Gorsepaw did everything right and got murdered for his bravery.
It's not fair at all...

The first of these scenarios reminds me of Feathertail in her manga, getting sent on the journey where she dies right after she's finally happy in her Clan. The second reminds me of Bluesstar.

The series can have a super edition of the elders who were left behind when the clans went to the lake slowly starving to death one by one.

Cats watching their loved ones dying in front of them... *sobs* MadameDelune I don't think I'd even have the guts to read that kind of book.

Thistleclaw, Dustpelt, and Spotfur going down that deep, dark hole of angry grief after losing their partner does a lot in my mind.

Another way I think would be sad is if a cat made a choice that eventually cause someone else who is important to them getting killed. This happened with Hawkwing and his brother Duskpaw. Also just Hawkwing’s Journey as a whole was pretty sad.

Honestly, Snowtuft. His home is vanishing by a huge mist, an evil cat who can possess and mind-control cats have taken over, Snowtuft doesn't even remember what he did wrong...I really hope this guy reaches the light at the end of the tunnel.
