So, it’s no surprise that while there are some cool ideas for a character, those ideas aren’t always perfectly executed and for Warriors, potential for what a character could be is often lost. However, there are some well-written characters with decent character arcs and consistent characterization. What are some characters that fall into these categories?
Hollyleaf would be one for me. I was sad that she died, but happy at the same time because she couldn’t be ruined. She was consistent and her character arc had wrapped up nicely. Her personal growth felt real, as though it could happen. From a scared, rule-following cat who committed a grave mistake into a cat that learned how to understand others more and died for her Clan because that’s what she loved most, despite the turmoil that festered inside.
Another example would be Needletail. I hate her, not gonna lie, but I do think she’s well-written. She was this rebellious apprentice that had redeemable qualities, but just because someone has redeemable qualities doesn’t mean they can’t slip into an even darker version of themselves. Instead of heading towards what made her good, she let her desires get the best of her and was unintentionally toxic. She cared about Violetshine, but she didn’t realize how much she cared until Violetshine was facing possible death. She sacrificed her life - the good in her peaking out one last time.
Now, considering what I’ve heard, people think Rootspring is pretty well-written and considering he was my favorite protagonist in the first two books, I hope that remains to be true because it’d be even more of a reason to love him.

I’m going to get alot of flack for this, but I do think that Onestar is a really well written character in terms of having a meaningful arc to his character. He always served a purpose in the series, whether it was as a problem for Thunderclan, or as a cat too overly desperate to prove he could be a strong leader without Firestar. Even if it led to his downfall, Onestar’s character through the series is one of the most interesting and well-written for me personally.
I think Twigbranch and Violetshine both were very well-written Protag POVs. Ivypool and Firestar were both well-written to me as well.

Leafpool and Squirrelflight in all their trials and choices. They've been through a lot and have made some good decisions, some bad decisions. I think they're very well-developed characters.

I still think that Crowfeather is one of the best written characters even though he's not the most well liked both in universe and some parts of the fandom.

I'm gonna say it. Gray Wing is arguably the best-written protagonist in the entire series. While Leafstar is the best-written leader period. Ivypool is the best-written morally gray character. Daisy, is the best-written queen in the series, and honestly deserves way more recognition. While Tree is the best-written father in the series, he needs more love too.

Crowfeather & Needletail are some of the most flawed and realistic characters I've ever seen.
Silverstream despite only having a short stint in the series is well written in my opinion too.
Hawkwing, Thunder, Leafstar, Violetshine, & Twigbranch are honorable mentions.
If Squirrelflight faced more consequences I'd say she's fairly well written too.
I personally found Mapleshade well written.
