Don't like it. I feel that it only happened just for the sake of Alderheart getting a love interest, considering it lasted maybe half a book.

The two people above me have already pretty much said my thoughts, but I'll add more to it. I thought that it was okay, not invasive like other forbidden crushes/romances, and they parted on very mature terms. Didn't really find it to be needed though, especially since Alderheart had JUST had feelings for Needletail, it made him seem a bit fickle.

Don't like it. It was just a plot device.

I don't like it. It was pointless, Alderheart didn't need to have that crush (he already seemed to have a bit of one on Needletail), and there was literally zero reason for it to exist except to create tension between Jayfeather and Alderheart and then to give them a nice moment. It felt sharply like a plot device.

Didn't mind it, but it definitely was only there to give Alder the agency he desperately needed late AVoS.

Pointless, unnecessary, a plot-device, I hate it.

It was okay for the fact it finally showed us a medicine cat who put their role as medicine cat first. We could have had an annoying plot line with kits or the like, instead it was short and finished off, very quickly. It was a good lesson for Alderheart and showed the difficulties of the medicine cat choice, the desire existed and was pushed aside in favor of the Clan.

eh
however the med cat rule is still bs and should be removed
maybe they wouldnt need to keep forcing cats into being med cats if they got rid of the dumb rule

It's temporary existence hasn't changed my thinking of Alderheart as being gay, so there is that. Him having a crush on Needletail or Velvet doesn't matter to me in this regard. Just another random plot device because the writing team killed of AVoS's main villain way too soon and was looking for other content to fill out some empty space with.

eh i don't really hate it, it's one of the few forbidden romances that i don't mind if not solely for the fact that it didn't feel dragged on for too long and the fact that Alderheart put his role as a med cat first (for me, at least)
what i mainly don't like about it is that it mainly just exists to give Alderheart something to do despite it feeling like there's no need to continue his pov at that point, and don't like how it feels like a plot device. if it weren't for that then otherwise i think would mind it less

Velvet who???
jk. I thought it was meh. She was really cute but I didn't feel too much chemistry between them. Alderheat didn't need a romance but I have nothing against Velvet really.

Yeah Velvet herself is perfectly fine (Granted she has no flaws whatsoever but I chalk that up to her COMPLETE lack of screentime to even show one that means anything for a one-off in the first place). It's the forced romance that's the problem, it's shallow with how Alderheart's first thought of her on sight was how pretty she was and how soft her fur is and yada yada, especially since she is basically only there TO give Alderheart a love interest just so that he has something to do for the meandering chapters of ROF and then put a last-minute "tension" for him and Jayfeather.

Awful, but more symptomatic of the back half of AVOS being written like a bunch of chimps slamming away at type writers than anything else. I canβt really hate on the ship itself, which is so irrelevant and inoffensive, but I can hate that it is the culmination of how bad AVOSβs second half is
