Is Breezepelt a well written character?

*screams from the rooftop* he deserved a better, more complex, character arc, and an on screen redemption

It was cool to see an unlikable character that wasn't an outright villain, but Breezepelt in Crowfeather's Trial wasn't written well. Crowfeather's Trial spoilers aheadI would've liked to see a Breezepelt redemption arc, but the way it was written wasn't that great. Breezepelt doesn't need to stay mean, but he just became a good cat at the drop of a hat. His redemption should've been longer (taking up more than one book) and he should've put more effort into redeeming himself. He was kind of just...forgiven immediately? Breezepelt did terrible things, so I don't know why it wasn't taken as seriously.

The SE is two years old and spoiler warnings are really to be used for books that are at most two months old. Otherwise, I agree. I wouldn't say he was forgiven immediately, but things like Crowfeather calling Breezepelt's possible involvement in saving WindClan a redemption and later silently begging Lionblaze to forgive him really made it hard to take anything about it seriously.

I wouldn't say it's particularly bad, but it's not good either? So, it's just ok. Again, interesting concept with a cat who is resentful over a neglectful father, and choosing to act on hatred, but later learning how to handle that anger. But the execution was eh.

I’m fine with it. He matured, he fought well for his clan, risked his life to fight the stoats and save Lionblaze, and he worked out his family issues and is now happy with a mate and kits. Seems fine to me!

I voted yes. He could have been better, but I'm happy with what we got. He's definitely more interesting than characters like Brackenfur or Rosepetal.

His character arc should've been more complex, more than "Daddy I want attention!"

I have mentioned this before, I didn't really have much of an opinion for Breezepelt being a bad guy in OOTS, and I did enjoy his redemption arc in CT. My main issue with his story is the foreshadowing of his redemption, there wasn't any before CT. Instead, they tried foreshadowing him to be the next big villain in DS, then he immediately has a change of heart. I could be wrong because this is all just from memory, but we need to see the exact moment he had first realized what he has done.

I honestly think that Breezepelt is a rather complex character but not nearly as complicated like his father Crowfeather or his brother Jayfeather. His redemption could have also been done better or not at all.

Is he well written. Um no.
His characterization was very inconsistent. Okay maybe not because after CT he’s still a pretty nice dude but I felt like I was hit by a brick in the head because he made a 180 personality flip.
But I do for some reason like him.

I think he was before Crowfeatherʼs Trial. He was a pretty interesting villain, but then he just became a completely different cat. I like him and his relationship with Heathertail, but it's simply not Breezepelt.

I feel like Breezepelt suffers from the same unfulfilled potential that a lot of Warriors characters do. It always seemed like the writing team wanted to make Breezepelt a character struggling to cope with childhood abuse, but they wouldn't go far enough to make either Crowfeather or Nightcloud actually abusive (Crowfeather was neglectful to some extent, but the importance of familial relationships is so inconsistent in Warriors that Breezepelt's anger seemed disproportionate.) So then Breezepelt was interesting, but didn't make a whole lot of sense. He got built up as a deeply resentful traitor to the clans, which was very interesting, but then his redemption came a little too quickly for me to buy into. I think the writing team had a great opportunity to do a proper redemption arc with Breezepelt, but ended up rushing it and ignoring some of his more egregious crimes.
