...were from other clans.
had to fininsh the title in here because it was too long.
anyways, i was thinking about how sad crowfeather's life is (reminder: his tragedies explain things, not justify things), and i realized that the probable reason why crowfeather only found genuine romantic love with cats from outside windclan, was because he spent majority of his formative moons on the journey.
he was an apprentice on the journey. and the fact he wasnt close to the others was also a factor to this disconnect for himself. when he grew closer to feathertail, he got influenced by her easily (she was able to calm him, and leave a huge moral and emotional development impact on him when she died in front of him). squirrelpaw didnt have this problem because: she had brambleclaw, someone from her own clan; plus, squirrelpaw was more headstrong about the journey despite not being chosen. whereas crowpaw had doubts about himself being a chosen cat from the beginning.
crowpaw relied on feathertail for support and mental/emotional growth, and once she was gone, he didn't view his life in windclan as exciting anymore. in the guidebook, he said (in crowfeather speaks) that he just wanted to live a normal warrior life just so he could die someday and rejon feathertail and be with her. this changed when he found another tether to cling to: another cat from another clan, leafpaw/pool. since leafpool was similar in nature to feathertail, it was easy for him to attach to her the way he did to feathertail. feathertail supported and guided him, whereas leafpool comforted and healed him. thats how i view it anyways (i still view crow x feather as lesser than leaf x crow, but thats my personal bias. i hope my bias doesnt show too much here).
so of course, when crowfeather feels forced to reutrn to his bland, lonely life in windclan after leafpool choses thunderclan over him, he wants to latch onto someone else. not only prove his loyalty, but to also fill the voids his two genuine loves left behind.
poor crowfeather never had a chance to develop as his own cat. he relied on feathertail during his most vulnerable, and influencial stages of his life. and not long after, he latched onto the next cat who could offer similar support, leafpool. he really should have just talked to his mom about all this instead of running off with leafpool, and maybe his way of handling and expressing his feelings wouldnt have been so rushed, harsh, and unhealthy at times.
i have a lot of sympathy for crowfeather, but im not gonna baby him too much. like i said, him talking to ashfoot and having someone wise to teach him better would have solved a lot of his problems. him deciding to handle things himself led to him using nightcloud and neglecting breezepelt (among other bad things he's done).
