I really admire the way that Erin Hunter makes these books, but the age timeline is ridiculous. We have in The Last Hope Graystripe being noticed as Elder-Age by Lionblaze, but now he is acting leader in Thunderclan, already over 10 main-series books later. He also gets a journey to the moonstone, and I am wondering how he is still so incredibly fit, and able to make the Great Journey in reverse, AND get to the moonstone so easily in such a short amount of time. He would not have survived the journey in his prime, as we learned in The Lost Warrior, if not for Millie.

I'm sticking with the theory that he, Mistystar, and any other cat taken at one point by Twolegs got some pretty nifty vaccinations that have contributed to their freakishly long lifespans. That, and the Erins don't seem to keep any actual timelines written down, bless their hearts 😂

the lake SUCKS!! i've been saying for a while now that the lake makes things too easy. there's no thunderpath for potential death! the badgers were only a few time thing and arent a constant threat to lower population! where's the other animals? we hardly get any problems!

Him and Mistystar are obviously both stealing the unimportant background character's life energy!

Although his abilities are outstanding, a lot of cats can still operate quite well irl even if they are urging onto 20.
My cat died at 17, and he didn't have any physical sign of being ill except rapid breathing.
And so, plus the shredded forest, old cats are exceptionally well at remaining good mobility, I suppose.
I don't know. However, to me, the way he still travels in the way he does doesn't come as that big of a shock.

I think as to how he got to the Moonstone, it's a mixture of the first three options.

I have no clue how he got to the moonstone, but to be honest i'm actually kind of glad Graystripe is still around. It would be too sad to have him die off, even though he most likely will soon.

Given his whole arc in GV and TPoNS about finding purpose in ThunderClan, I wouldn't be surprised if he kicks the bucket soon. He realized that he still had a place in his Clan and then steps up to acting leadership for them when they needed him most. I think it'd be a good end to his character when he (inevitably) steps down for Bramblestar next book and dies peacefully knowing he helped Squirrelflight and ThunderClan for a final time. Bittersweet, but an ideal ending for him, at least in my opinion.

He's the last og TC apprentice after all, but maybe it'll mean a new era for the current cats. I wonder if the next series will focus on icing older cat generations and tying up loose ends?

I feel the same. He's my all time favorite character and I'm going to be really sad to see him go, as he's been around since the very first book, but on the flipside he'd be able to reunite with a lot of his loved ones and would hopefully die knowing he's done well. That would also be ideal. A lot of these old cats really ought to be retired by now, it's a little ridiculous. I do love a lot of the older cats but it's about time a good portion of the newer ones got some page time and hopefully some actual personality rather than appearing on a random patrol or something every now and then.

Finally gets to reunite with his mates, daughters, and best friends

Crack theory but can be considered a headcanon if you so wish. Twoleg vaccines. i used to find this argument odd, but then again...we dont know when millie's last shots were before she left with graystripe to be a wild cat. so it could be possible. but we also dont know the exact amount of time graystripe trained millie for, and how long it took millie to find him too. idk how long cat vaccines last either lol.

I believe cats need to get their vaccines every 1 to 3 years so Graystripe's perfect age will probably never wear off
