Since goody two shoe characters get appreciation all the time, I kinda wanna know if anyone else has any problematic favs, and why you like them so much? I personally have a few of my own, I might have more but I'll add them later: Mapleshade: She's a pretty interesting serial killer, and her novella was entertaining to read, and I'm tired of people pretending it wasn't lol. Honestly my only gripe is that it should have been an SE, but seeing the mindset of someone so unhinged was great. Ashfur: If I said I wanted him to have a novella I'd probably be bombarded, who know. But I liked him before and after his decent into madness, and I still enjoy him during his tyrannical reign in TBC. He's a great character that knows how to start drama. Mudclaw: I like that he's very complex, I enjoyed seeing his inner struggles, and seeing how far he was willing to go in the name of his clan. But I also like that he's also expressed guilt despite his pride, and I was hoping to see more of that, but oh well. Needletail: Similar to Mudclaw, was pretty disappointed when she died so soon, because I thought she was a very interesting character. At first, not so much, but over time, yeah, it's just a shame this radical icon got iced so fast. Ivypool: She had an inferiority complex thanks to people comparing her to her sister, she joins a gang, causes a fights, and can be petty, but I guess that's what makes her eventual growth and maturity as a character even more enjoyable. I also like that she still has no problem decking someone if she has to. Scorchfur: He's a bossy, cowardly, prude clanmate but I love how he has morals and is a very supportive mate and father. It makes him entertaining as a background character, because he at least has personality. Nightcloud: I hated her guts at first, but then after re-reading the series, I realized just how realistic of a character she was. And I liked that, I liked that the way she reacts was so raw, but also very wrong, but that's why I like her even more in CT. Flametail: Although a lot of people think his POV was a waste, I thought it was interesting. I liked seeing things from his perspective, and I also liked the idea of him being lost in the afterlife, or still holding grudges. Breezepelt: He was a bratty kid, with a crappy father, and overprotective mother, and his crush was into his rival, etc. Dude had such "lancer" tropes all over him, and even more so when he had a "face-heel turn" but later a satisfying redemption imo. Hawkfrost: Suave manipulative trash kitty, I love this guy. Honestly wish he stuck around more, he would have been great in the current arc. But where as he wasn't too good while he was alive, his DF arc definitely made up for that.

Ashfur for me is probably the most entertaining villain in the series and is one of my favorite characters because of it. He's a selfish, petty, obsessive, xenophobic, abusive, and a million other terrible things, but I'll be damned if he isn't fun to read about. His descent from a generally good natured warrior to a bitter incel that's become hellbent on ruining Squirrelflight's life to the point where it transcends the afterlife is easily one of the best aspects of his character. A novella on him (preferably during his time in StarClan) would be interesting to see. He's such a piece of shit, it's great.

Am I the only one who actually likes Clear Sky? Like yes, I know he was a POS but I love him anyway. I just love how well written he was as a character, and he was definitely the most sympathetic villain. He always had good intentions - he just wanted to protect his group of cats. He went about in just about the worst possible freaking way he could’ve, but it’s the thought that counts, right?
Yes, I acknowledge that he is awful. The way he treated Thunder, Gray Wing, and basically anybody who wasn’t a contributing member of his group was despicable. And for some damn reason I still love him and nobody can change my mind. I will die on this hill.

I thought Fury was a pretty cool villain for an SE and it makes me sad that seemingly no one cares about her after the fact. She's kind of Scourge's worst impulses made even worse and it's cool how it's acknowledged that she's a worse leader and so can't command the same respect, and thus she promises them big conquests in order to try to maintain her power. It all backfires on her because since she rules only by strength, when she's weakened she is unable to maintain any help.

Ashfur and Dovewing. Onestar's not a fav, to be exact, but I like him. I like Millie, too.

Needletail: She was very interesting, I liked how she didn't agree with the warrior code, and even though I didn't agree with her and how she acted, I can sympathize and even understand her points. Rowanstar was not a very good leader and she and the others were right, but then later in the books she also realized just how good she had it. She is a character who knew she screwed up her own life - and paid a huge price for it by death. Her story is very tragic, and even though she still blames Rowanstar for certain things, I can't help but feel sorry for her still. She didn't get a chance to live a life; most of her life was spent in fear, trying to escape what she had done. Sure, Needletail could've been written better, but I like what we got. *shrugs*

I'm sure nothing much else can top having Tigerstar I as a favorite character. I just love to hate him so much as he is such a classic villain and was the so called end boss for four arcs until his final death by the paws of Firestar. What an absolute legend!

My love for Clear Sky is no secret honestly but I love him so much. I love the "former good guy has heart hardened by life" trope and I think for him it made a lot of sense, but he is definitely not a good cat and was fun to read about as his way of thinking was twisted and cold for most of the books.
(I will admit I really wish they hadn't done the whole Star Flower thing with him though, way too creepy. Clear Sky should have never had a mate after Storm but hey this isn't the thread for that.)

I've got some hot takes here.
Crowfeather: Well-written and realistic character. I loved his developement throughout the series.
Mudclaw: He's a morally gray character, who wanted to go to the extremes just for his Clan, even if it was morally wrong, and i liked that.
Onestar: I liked his character as Onewhisker, and it was interesting to see his downfall from greace, ending in him being very agressive with ThunderClan and the leader who used to be his friend. He's a shitty character, but i enjoy him.
Millie: She was a good mate, helping Graystripe search for his home and cheering him up in the worst of times. She was also a blunt, strong, and loyal warrior, a great addition and help to the Clanmates around her, and not that bad of a mother. She's a complex character and i like her.
Russetfur: I loved how tough she was with her Clanmates, but how far she was willing to go for pride in the middle of the battlefield. She's also an outsider, who ended up proving to her Clanmates that loners and rogues can also become strong warriors.
Leopardstar/Blackstar: These two have similar stories, but ended up being good and loyal warriors to their own Clans, regretting their pasts and trying to move on. I personally always loved their tempers as leaders, and i still do.
Dovewing: She's compassionate, kind, caring, gentle and i love her for it. I love how her story goes from an apprentice who had a prophecy on her shoulders from young age, to a proud and supportive mother to three kits, who ends up caring too much. Imo she's a ralistic, flawed, and very human character.
Flametail: He gets excessive hate. His POV is honestly not that bad, in fact i liked seeing his character more in-depth. He's also really agressive, and petty, but i just enjoy him a lot for some reason.
Reedshine: I think she gets unnecessary amount of hate. Not only she dosen't know Mapleshade personally, and is not obligated to feel pity for her, but she saw her mate admit his mistakes and decided to give him a second opportunity, to possibly protect her kits' futures and give them normal lives. She's just as much as a victim to his cheating as much as Mapleshade is.
Ravenwing: Ah, another one of Mapleshade's victims. I don't know why some fans expect him to lick Mapleshade's paws and not tell their leader both of her secrets. He also possibly trusted his leader to make the best decision but he ended up being a jerk, so all he could do was watch, and hope Mapleshade wouldn't have any trouble bringing them to the river, like she did the next day. But a storm just happened to start when she was exiled, and he couldn't do anything to help.
Ashfur: I don't like him as a cat, he's petty, obsessive, unhealthily selfish, absuive, xenophobic, and more. In fact, i hate him as a cat. But he's very entertaining to read about, he's really, really great as a villian and i love how much damage he's causing to the Clans just because of a girl rejected him.
Squirrelflight: Maybe not very problematic, but i honestly love her character. Just like i mentioned in another post, she has many positive traits too that makes me love her. Honestly i wish she gets the good rest in the Elder's den she needs tbh.

I like that she was a selfish/self-serving as an antagonist, and how she carved out a place where she can belong with Clear Sky's group. I appreciate their relationship.

Rainflower . Very realistically written character . She’s obviously written in a manner that makes you want to hate her , but she’s what makes crookedstars promise such a masterpiece , since there’s so many parents out there that are just as a bit pretentious, self-conceited , haughty and so Narcissistic, that think of there children as nothing more then a possession to flaunt to others , or use to improve there self-image , or rise higher up the societal ladder . And Crookedstar struggling to earn his mothers attention to see him for his own self-worth , only to come to accept himself for who he is , and realize that he doesn’t need his mothers approval to be happy , and content with his life . It’s truly an inspiring Tale of courage and determination, and it sends a positive message to those that are unfortunate to have a problematic relationship with either of there parents in this manner .
Hawkfrost . Practically Tigerstar 1 protege , who fully intended to become his successor and merge the clans into 2 under the reign of an iron fist . He’s suave and manipulative , and a smooth-talker , and the bittersweet retribution of him being stopped by his own Brother makes him that much more memorable during his short period of plot relevance imo , I mean when’s the last time have we had 2 siblings have to duel it out to the death for the greater good in this series ?.
Crowfeather . Well-written and consistent character . Truly a pain in the ass most of the time , obstinate , uncooperative, and judgmental , and quite snappish and quarrelsome , but it’s understandable considering his feelings of loneliness and neglect during his youth , and his troublesome love life sure as hell didn’t help . But he’s also loyal , determined , and quite frankly a Blunt tongue of wisdom at times , that isn’t afraid to speak his mind , and call people out on there unreasonable decisions ( loved how he challenged Onestar on his obstinacy to ask TC for help in CT when they desperately needed it , even though he got exiled in the process ).
Mapleshade. Her novella has to be my Favorite , reading from PoV of a twisted , deranged serial killer is a rare , delicious treat we rarely get to behold in this series , truly a treasured Gem . And loved how she intospectively rationalized , and justified herself being in the right , and seeking vengeance over crimes that she think have been committed against her , and which depends on reader interpretation if you think she was wronged at all, was a fantastic, bone-chilling ride to read through .
Ashfur .while I do enjoy his descent into madness , and rejoiced when he got murdered in the prologue on Sunrise , and his been enjoyable to read through TBC , albeit in a more cathartic manner , there’s too much reused material from PoT and OoTS , and too many added elements that weren’t present and have been giving no explanation (most notably Ashfurs powers ) that makes TBC feel disconnected from the rest of the Warriors universe , that greatly dampens my appreciation for his character and villain arc . He’s okay I guess.
Other mentions would be Jayfeather, berrynose, Bumblestripe, Ivypool , nightcloud , Squirrelpaw/flight , Dustpelt , sandynose , Onestar , scorchfur .
