What are your thoughts on it and has this affected your opinion on Blackstar in any way, either positively or negatively? And given his character, are you glad that Blackstar felt remorse for his actions or would you have preferred it if he hadn't?

I already liked Blackstar. He's not hard to like if you take him for what he is - kind of a dumb cat who is easily led. When he's out of those influences and able to really reflect, he realizes how stupid he's being. He's actually a super consistent character because the same thing that happens with him and Brokenstar/Tigerstar later happens with Sol. That said, I think he's actually a pretty solid leader (for a Shadowclan leader, that is) and despite being easily led, I think he's still better than Leopardstar
I want to add that I think him feeling remorse is in character? I don't think he's really a bad cat, but he's impulsive and, as stated, easily manipulated.

I really like Blackstar and his redemption arc when he became leader, his novella just makes me like him more and it has become my favorite novella ever.

I liked Blackstar before his novella came out. I loved the fact that he went from being a loyal follower of evil tyrants to a strong and noble leader of his Clan. He redeemed not only himself, but his whole Clan, in a way where they were no longer automatically seen as the bad guys.
I honestly think his novella is the best novella that’s come out so far. It had a really unique setup with his nine lives ceremony and flashbacks to different parts of his life, and it was written in a way where the little snippets we did get really filled us in on his life from the time he was a kit until he became a warrior. It showed his true desire to change and he better for his Clan. It was a unique novella that managed to fit a big story into a short book, but still made it feel complete.
Blackstar is, in my opinion, the best leader ShadowClan has had in generations. Before him, maybe Cedarstar was decent. But after a long line of bad leaders - Raggedstar, Brokenstar, Nightstar (though to be fair it’s not Nightstar’s fault he wasn’t given nine lives), and Tigerstar, there was a LOT of damage that Blackstar had to clean up, and he did a damn good job of it. It’s a shame he had to be followed by leaders who were once again weak and damaged the work he had done to restore his Clan.

aahh my attention span ran out before I could finish it but I liked what I did read (which was most of it, minus a chapter or two). Blackstar has always been a fav of fine and if his novella had come out ~4-5 years ago I would have been all over it. anyway still like him and I cried at the Badgerfang scene

I actually quite enjoyed it and it's definitely among my favourite novellas. I've always liked Blackstar and I'm glad it shows that he genuinely felt remorse for all he had done, and although he tries to justify it to himself by saying he was following orders, deep down he knows that's not an excuse and he did absolutely horrible things. For what it's worth, I think he was a good (albeit obviously flawed) leader. One thing I was pleasantly surprised by was that Blackstar had positive relationships with Flintfang and Fernshade, as well as Wolfstep. It's minor, but it's something I like to see.
Also, the flashback where Blackfoot is watching Badgerfang and Flintfang say goodbye, and later Blackfoot pleading for Badgerfang not to leave he gives him a life almost brought me to tears.

I did not like Blackstar (or Leopardstar) at all for what he did to Stonefur and then getting away with it (seemingly) unscaved so I'm very glad that he received some backlash from his victims and felt remorse for what he had done to them. His Novella has made me be neutral on him, let's see if Leopardstar's SE will do the same for my opinion on her.
