Dovewing: She has a crappy story that develops on romance, but I like her personality. She's kind, playful, compassionate, and follows her heart. I just wish she was written so much better than what we got. Her story is terrible, which is a shame, because she had a really good beginning that showed a lot of her personality.
Ivypool: Don't like her at all as an apprentice, but she's alright as a warrior I guess. I don't like how she constantly yells at people, but I like her loyalty and determination. Honestly, both of these characters could've been done so much better. Neutral.

I love Ivypool, one of my favorite characters.
I like Dovewing, could have been treated better by the authors.

Ivypool: Love - Initially I wasn't fond of her character, coming off the ends of the POT series, I was hesitant on the introduction of the sisters. However, I found her to be relatable and realistic as the books continued, and I enjoyed her underdog character structure. She had a notable personality, with an interesting premise thanks to her involvement in the Dark Forest. I also appreciated that she didn't have powers, nor was she associated with powers, and her internal conflicts as a character was also compelling. Nowadays she's a more respectable warrior, who's matured well, with a good amount of skills under her belt along with two apprentices. I enjoy her family, and her mate choice is also interesting, with healthy dynamics for once that feel like a breath of fresh air. I can see her in a leadership position one day, even as a deputy, I think she would do very well.
Dovewing: Dislike - I used to really like Dovepaw, I thought she had a lot of potential as a character, especially because she had big shoes to fill. I remember she wasn't very well received at first, and I would even defend her, wanting to see how she turned out in the end. Needless to say...I was disappointed. When it comes to her role as one of the three, she had one of the worse POV's next to Lionblaze, which bothered me so much. Whereas Lionblaze's was boring, Dovewing's was almost unecessary and centered too much around romance that wasn't even good. She had so much potential, they could have explored her inner struggle, her trauma, her want to focus more on self-love, being unable to save everyone she hears near death or her adjusting to life without her powers. But they kinda threw that under the bus...and degraded her to trophy wife for a deadbeat loser like Tigertwo.

Ivypool: I love her a lot. Her jealousy and struggles with her sister is a problem tons of fans can relate to. She hates how she keeps getting compared to her sister and feels like everyone likes her sister more than her just because Dovewing is a great hunter and helped break the dam. So once Hawkfrost started training her, the other cats soon start to see her and recognize her for being a great fighter. Once she learns the truth about the Dark Forest and is force to be a spy she starts playing smart and trying her best to figure out the plans of the Dark Forest leaders. When the battle happens she helps the Dark Forest trainees fight for their clan and after everything she becomes a strong and respectable cat.
Dovewing: I hate her. She was fine as an apprentice until the love drama happened. It was almost like SqurrielxBramblexAsh all over again but worse. Dovewing just couldn't decide if she wanted Tigerheartstar's booty or not. Once they broke up and she decided to stay single and find her own way I was happy she was finally growing but then it all got ruined by her getting pregnant, running away, making Tigerheartstar pick between his clan or her. She's just an annoying character now

Dovewing: Love: I've always found her character to be releatable and flawed. She's probably one of the most human characters in the series imo. She makes a lot of mistakes, she can be selfish and reckless, homever that's how a lot of human beings are. And even after those traits, she's still compassionate, kind, protective, caring, sweet, and has a heart of gold, even if her haters say otherwise. She's a pretty consinstent and complex character because of this. She was forced to grow up early and had no time to develop her own personality. I deeply releate to her when she begins doubting herself and sneaks with Tigerheart to escape all the stress that comes with being forced to grow up fast. Having to keep the secret probably even ruined her communication skills, starting to think that she has to keep quiet or she'll hurt someone. This became a pretty big insecurity, added with the fact that she didin't like being different from the crowd, wich lowered her self-esteem. That also makes her a complex character- i dislike how she's always called bratty for "whining", when she has a reason to complain. Glad she joined ShadowClan and didin't stay in ThunderClan, where she wasn't comfortable. And now, to her new Clan, she's loyal, dedicated and caring, and also supportive to her son when no one else saw his side. I'm glad she's also not afraid of anymore of calling anyone out, and she's right when she says ThunderClan cats can be stuck-up. I'm glad she got such a good ending. Dovewing is honestly a good character, and she's so mistreated by the fandom sometimes, it's baffling.
Ivypool: Dislike: I honestly used to like her, she was always one of my top 10 favorites, but as time passed by, i started disliking her. When she was an apprentice, she was honestly annoying, i hated her, blaming Dovepaw for things she had no control over. I'll admit her dark forest training was interesting, but her character didin't help in the situation. I liked her throughout Omen of the Stars, and she became one of my top 10 favorite characters, but in AVoS, she became one of my top 5. Especially due to her mature relationship with Fernsong. But what dropped her to like was probably by how she behaved with TigerDove- ignoring her sister until she drops her mate, and then slashing Tigerheart's face. It made me really uncomfortable, wich dropped her character to like. And something else, that dropped her to neutral-like, was probably TBC- due to her kits, and how her character had lost her charm. She's the generic nice and supportive mother, and she didin't do anything significant in the arc. Homever, after a lot of time, what made made truly dislike her, was the fandom. She's overrated, like really overrated, since her character is not that good imo. I don't hate her, but i'm a little bit disappointed that i've grown to dislike her in the end.

She's overrated, like really overrated, since her character is not that good imo. I don't hate her, but i'm a little bit disappointed that i've grown to dislike her in the end. Yeah, honestly, I feel the same about Ivypool. I like her in AVoS a lot, especially with her understanding nature toward Twigpaw. But it bothers me how she had such an unhealthy grudge against DovexTiger. I know she was trying to protect her sister, and I don't wanna have a repeated debate from Ivypool's fans, either, I get it, I get everything and how she feels, she felt left out, she's worried about her sister making poor choices, whatever, but it doesn't excuse the fact that she can be pretty awful sometimes. Ivypool had no obligation to be nice to Tigerheart, since he's a rival Clan cat, but she should have been more understanding with Dovewing. I'll always feel like because of the misunderstanding between BOTH (Ivypool AND Dovewing were both at fault for the fallout) sides of the sisters, this is why everything tore apart. Dovewing even wanted to be with Ivypool after she had the kits, and if it wasn't for Tigerheart, she probably would have returned to ThunderClan with them. If Dovewing wasn't with Tigerheart at all, none of this would have happened, obviously. If Tigerheart was honest with Ivypool and told her the truth to where she was going, Ivypool would have gone after her, especially while Dovewing was pregnant. And I feel like if Ivypool tried to hear Dovewing out, Dovewing might have stayed in the clan without going anywhere. Really, all three were at fault for this, and I'm tired of people blaming everything on Dovewing. She's dumb, she didn't handle things right, and yes, she betrayed her clan and her family, but in the end... no one communicated with anyone properly. Nobody tried to understand one another; nobody sat down to talk about it. Dovewing wanted to, but Ivypool shut her down. Really, communication is the key here, and probably would have been the solution for Dovewing's safety and decision to stay in the first place. All three of them should have had a secret meeting and talked to each other, but Dovewing ran off, Ivypool insulted Tigerheart and wanted nothing to do with him, while Tigerheart refused to tell the truth. Ivypool should have been involved with Tigerheart's super edition; I feel like it would have made their story more interesting and complex, with both Tigerheart and Ivypool going after Dovewing to persuade her to return, and making amends with all three of them, helping Dovewing decide where she should go and stay. It would've been much better, a lot more mature for the three of them, without all these misunderstandings that many of them had. That's my gripe with how the writers handled Dovewing and Ivypool: they forced problems on both sisters, which caused them to either avoid one another or make stupid choices. When Dovepaw and Ivypaw talked in NW, things were looking fine, and honestly, that was wasted potential on its own for Tigerheart's Shadow. The three really should have talked and figure out what to do with Dovewing and the kits. It would have been a less painful ending. And before people get defensive with Ivypool, I'm not on anyone's side here. It's a communication problem with all three of them, and that's just my own personal opinion. Not trying to be rude. This was all their faults. Dovewing isn't the only one bad at communicating. It said right in the book that Ivypool also didn't want to talk either, and Tigerheart refused to tell the truth. And because of this, I truly believe it would've made a big difference for Dovewing if the three of them talked to one another, especially since they were both concerned about Dovewing's safety and cared about her. Something would have worked out, but nope, the writers preferred drama instead of characters maturing and getting along. There is always a side to look into here when it comes to characters or even situations in real life.

Something would have worked out, but nope, the writers preferred drama instead of characters maturing and getting along. There is always a side to look into here when it comes to characters or even situations in real life. I do agree that the situation could have been handled better, but of the three, Ivypool was handling it better over the other two simply for the fact that she was following the code. The issue with DoveTiger is that they were actively aware they were breaking the code and causing issues because of it. Say that we only take AVoS into consideration, when Dove and Tiger get back together. At that point there really isn't an excuse. They're not spring apprentices anymore, and they have duties to their clans. Yet they still went back to lying to their clans, going behind their backs, and breaking the code. But....now kits became involved. That is when the situation has changed and made things even harder, there is no going back from that anymore. But the problem here is that Ivypool didn't know about the kits. Only Dove and Tiger, neither of them told Ivypool, and even when Dovewing ran away, Tigerheart still didn't tell her. If Ivypool had known Dovewing was pregnant, let alone planning to run away, she obviously would have tried to stop Dovewing and want to help her with the kits. But as far as she knew any more at that point was that Tigerheart and Dovewing were back at it again, with their fickle problematic relationship. And the whole reason Ivypool was so against it was because she didn't want Tigerheart to get her sister, her clanmate, in trouble, and because she cared about her safety. Prior to her finding out about DoveTiger through Twigpaw, she and Dove were still talking, just not as often especially because she was sneaking out to see Tigerheart, and Ivypool was becoming suspicious. But then only after finding out the truth, that is when she refused to give Dovewing anymore chances, and why should she at that point anymore? What is there to talk about anymore? She was lying to Ivypool, again. Going behind her back, again. And breaking the code, again. Ivypool had the right to be upset and disappointed in her sister, and Dovewing has no excuse to get back with Tigerheart. Tigerheart on the other hand made the situation worse, he abandoned Dovewing after proclaiming to love her, and not letting her move on properly with her life. He wanted to support Dovewing only when it was convenient to him, but at the same time Dove put him in a situation here he was forced to choose between her and his clan. They shouldn't have gotten back together because it dragged this entire situation further than it should have. And at the end of the day, Ivypool very much loved her sister, even if they did argue, but just because you love someone doesn't mean you should condone their actions, and in this case Dove was breaking the law. She cared about her sister to the point she never once told her clanmates about her breaking the code, even after finding out that she and Tiger were together yet again, but there's only so much she can put up with. Dovewing should have stayed single, and Tigerheart should have let her move on properly. Because during the periods of OotS and AVoS Ivypool and Dovewing's relationship were perfectly fine and healthy, it should have stayed that way and not be dragged into more drama.

I agree with Aqua about Dovewing. I love her, and find her character relatable (when it’s not overly focused on her romance drama), but overall she could’ve been written better. As for Ivypool, I do like her, but didn’t care for how she acted with the TigerDove situation (not that they handled it well either, mainly referring to Tigerheart’s Shadow here).

We'll agree to disagree. I'm too tired today to have a full-on debate. Understandable, but I wasn't trying to debate, just wanted to point out specifics of the situation and issues, and even agreeing with some of things you stated. We can agree to disagree, but don't worry, don't feel obligated to have to have full on debates with me or other users.

I like them both but Dovewing's storyline could have definitely been handled better and their apparently still ongoing sort of feud makes me a bit sad so my enjoyment of their characters has taken a few hits, especially during the AVoS arc. Also, Ivypool should become leader of ThunderClan one day, just saying.
