this won't be a long post at all, just a simple little thought i had in my head.
cross-clan relationships as they're written, always reminds me of the weird thoughts cishets who want to be oppressed have, that plot point of "oh em gee, what if love was i l l e g a l". these relationships remind me of shitty allegories for lgbtq couples, yet the erins don't even have the balls to put in lgbtq characters or relationships.

I would also want to have LGBTQ+ representation in the books, i would be all for it. I mean, i ship Tallstar x Jake and Ravenpaw x Barley, so i would love to have representation. One of the issues the Erins have is that the books would be banned in some countries if they added LGBTQ+ in any way, wich has made them not write any in the books. Atleast they have implied some.

i never really liked ravenbarley, even though i still see the two as mlm. it just reminds me of bad p/dophilic and homophobic tropes of gay men preying on young guys, since barley seems like an older cat when we first meet him :/

Cross-Clan relationships are just the continuing trope of Forbidden Love which has prevailed for a long time, both in historical and modern literature.
The only reason why LGBTQ+ characters and couples are not officially in the series is because Harper Collins doesn't want to risk losing any money in other countries where such topics are still frowned upon or even illegal, like China and Russia for example.
One of the authors, Kate Cary, actually thinks that Tallstar and Jake are mates but this was not made canon in an obvious way, with the publisher instead saying they were just "Good Friends".

Cross-clan has nothing to do with wanting to be LGBT, it's just part of a long literary tradition about forbidden love and struggling in love in order to make it more dramatic and have more plot weight. I'd argue if you want to make it about a modern issue, a far closer allegory is intercultural or interracial relationships, as the element of literal physical distance and different ancestry is far more relevant to those couples.
The books could use more rep but the take that cross clan relationships are a substitute for LGBT is a bit bizarre imo.

I would like there to be more tension and less cliches.

The thing is, cross-clan relationships don't have anything to do with LGBTQ+ couples. It's simply the "forbidden love" trope which has been used tons and tons of times in other books and can go both ways with straight couples and LGBTQ+ couples. It's not an "allegory," nor are the Erins trying to imply that. Comparing cross-Clan relationships LGBTQ+ couples is like comparing apples to oranges imo.
