(Okay.)
Nerida put up as best of a fight as possible, but the longer the two stayed locked together with teeth and talon, she could tell that this fight wasn't going to be a quick event. So, with a low growl, she released her hold on Mayala, laying still but glaring daggers at the fire wyvern. This wasn't worth getting torn to shreds over, and she could already feel the other wyvern's teeth breaking the skin.
Elizabeth had to bite the inside of her cheek to not step in and help. While there was only a couple of small bite wounds starting to show before her wyvern chose to submit, she didn't like that the fight had happened at all. Sure, fire wyverns had a reputation of being quick to start fights, but having one so young just attack everything it passes wasn't making her feel easy about having the pair in the group. "You have one minute to get your wyvern under control, or I will get one of the older ones to teach her some manners," she told Remi, her voice collected yet holding disapproval for the situation at hand.

Elizabeth was tempted to speak her distrust, however, she knew enough of fire wyverns to know that any hatchingly would come with its own set of problems. Even if none of the others were as prone to violence right now as Mayala, sooner or later the hot-headed nature would make itself known. Besides, this was a newborn hatchling with a rider who was clearly a bit over her head with just how reactive her wyvern was. She couldn't expect all bad habits to be fixed or sorted out. So, with a controlled sigh, she made her decision. "We're all here and all agreed. We might as well find a way to make it work," she said.
"Exactly!" Austin chimed in enthusiastically. Truth be told, he was a bit worried that Elizabeth would reject the idea after her wyvern was attacked. He wasn't exactly sure how chill of a person she was. Since she gave her answer as an agreement to continue, he jumped with it, hoping to seal the deal before anything else happened. "Isn't that what being a team is all about? Learning how to work together despite or differences? Working through problems together, no matter how big or small? I think this will be a good thing!"

Trey held his breath as he turned to the one person who had yet to say anything. "Remi?"
She hesitated, wringing her fingers. Finally, she took a deep breath, straightened her shoulders, and nodded. "I'm in."
And just like that, they were a team.
☆~☆~☆
After that, things moved more smoothly. They made their way across the field to the entrance, where one of the teachers wrote down their names to officially mark them as a team. “No swap outs,” they were reminded. They were also asked if they had a team name, but while Austin seemed ready to suggest a bunch, Trey quickly answered “not yet” and they were told they had until the end of the week to come up with one.
They were then dismissed, and told they could use their sport/club time to do whatever they wanted. Classes were almost done for the day anyway.
The four of them made it around the school building to the front courtyard before Remi stopped and crossed her arms. “So do we plan to spend the afternoon together, or should we maybe split up and strengthen our bonds with our wyverns before we try and be a team?”
Trey stopped a few paces farther ahead and turned around. He looked at Remi, then her wyvern. Malaya was eye-balling Neridia as if weighing the pros and cons of picking another fight. His wyvern was at the edge of the path, sniffing flowers and watching a bee buzz around his snout.
Remi continued. “I mean, you two haven’t even thought of names for your wyverns yet,” she said, gesturing between Trey and Austin. “I think that takes priority over making friends.”
Trey grimaced. She was right. He really needed to put some thought into naming his wyvern.

Elizabeth walked with everyone back to the school, keeping mostly quiet. Not that it mattered too much. Austin did enough of the chatting for all of them. Was he always like this? If so, she felt some sympathy for Troy. Was there ever a moment of silence for him in their dorm? It made her all the more thankful that she managed to get a room to herself.
"As much as I hate to agree, that isn't a bad idea," she commented. "Having a day to spend bonding with the wyverns might help… settle them down a bit." It wasn't meant to be a dig at Malaya, for Austin's wyvern had been eager to jump from his human's shoulders and squirm in his arms nearly the entire walk out of the field. However, she couldn't stop her eyes from darting to the fire wyvern that had her attention fixed to Neridia. "It's been a hectic day for everyone, so the wyverns might like the quiet time. They're babies, after all, and even wyverns have their limits. And the names are an issue you two will need to get solved before the end of the day.

( Aye, aye! xD )
Trey ended up spending the entire afternoon in the Library. Not because it took him that long to find a name for his wyvern, though it couldn't have been called a quick process either. Rather, after naming the little guy, Trey simply chose to stay and read.
When it was time to return to the dorm for dinner, Trey quickly checked out the books he'd pickd out and made his way across campus to the boy’s dorm. His wyvern, who had spent the afternoon sleeping, scampered after him with renewed energy.
By the time they arrived, it was only a few minutes into the dinner hour, yet the cafeteria was already full. And this time, dozens of baby wyverns were there too.

Austin knew he made a smart choice in coming back to the dorm. As soon as the door was shut behind them, his wyvern was finally able to get the freedom he had been craving. He watched as the hatchling made a beeline to all the shelves and ledges built into the walls, the very ones he had been tempted to climb as well. Then for the next couple of hours, he alternated between being used as a landing pad (for he had taken a seat on the floor near the wall), and scrolling through the internet looking for names. He could recall some of the wyverns that were already grown and well-known throughout the States, but he knew that he couldn't use any of those. Even if he used a play on the names, he was sure his friends back home would give him crap about it. So he tried his best to figure out a name they hadn't heard of before.
Luckily for him, the internet seemed to be working much better in his room than it had been in class when he first tried to look up names. Earlier, everything had been not wanting to load or even work properly, so obviously Trey and him hadn't been able to get anywhere during that attempt. Now, however, he was able to stumble across several stories from Greek mythology that gave him the perfect idea for a name. Even the wyvern seemed to acknowledge the choice, for every time Austin called the name, his wyvern would glance in his direction. He even came to him when he was called when it was time to head down for dinner. With a proud grin and a confidence in his step, he marched down to find his roommate.

Austin did a quick scan of the cafeteria, trying to see if Trey was there yet or not. Though, he doubted he would be able to find him. The room was more crowded now than ever with all the newly hatched wyverns everywhere. And Trey was such a short fellow anyway, he would most like get swallowed up among the rest. What he did notice was that the table the two had sat at previously was still empty. It seemed like most of the people had gained their regular spots by now, and while that might not always be the case, it was for tonight. So he decided to just go on and get in line for the buffet, cutting a path through the traffic, and whenever Trey got there, he would be more likely to find him at their table.

Austin had gone through and picked up the food he was allowed. While it might have been a buffet, he wasn't going to just get more than everyone else was getting. He didn't want to be that kind of guy. But his tray was filled with plenty, for both him and his wyvern. In fact, he was having to balance the tray and keep Notus from tearing the seal container of mice open before he reached their table.
Somehow, he managed. Placing everything onto the table, he sat, pushed his wyvern back a couple of inches, and then opened the mice. Instead of trying to feed him one at a time, Austin figured it would be safer to let Notus just get them himself. SO he put the container in front of him and watched as the hatchling dug into his food. It was after this, when he turned to his own food, that Austin finally caught sight of Trey heading his way. The taller boy lifted a hand to wave, hoping to get his roommate's attention. He thought Trey would appreciate that more than him shouting out to him.

"So, it wasn't easy, let me tell you. Do you know how many wind relate names there are? Not a lot," Austin answered his own question before Trey even had a chance. Then took another bite of his food. "At least none that don't sound like a pansy name. Well, for a bird or a dog or whatever, they might be good, but not for a wyvern. Anyway, I keep scrolling and looking around until I happen to stumble upon an article talking about some Greek myth. I can't really remember what the myth was, get this: it included a wind god! So, naturally, if a name is god enough for a god of myth and legend, it should be good enough for a wyvern. And thus, I proudly present Notus: wind wyvern of our dorm, ruler of the skies, and menace to my fingers when I stop him from jumping."
(I keep forgetting how amusing it is to write Austin. XD)
