Pre-OOTS, we have a few different cats who are trained in the Dark Forest, whether they rejected it or not. Thistleclaw, Crookedjaw, Goosefeather, Brambleclaw, Hawkfrost...
Who else do you think should have or might have been trained in the Dark Forest?
I like the idea of Hawkheart, who ultimately rejected the Dark Forest but may have used them like Thistleclaw, Crookedjaw and Brambleclaw to get stronger for his Clan.
Maybe Stormtail? I think that would have been a nice parallel to Goosefeather.
My biggest desire would have been 'Foxheart' (YS, Raggedpelt's second mate) to have been trained by a Dark Forest cat, her desire being to prove herself to her Clanmates and especially to Raggedpelt.

I'm actually still surprised that Tigerstar didn't reconsider training Hollyleaf after she had stopped her Medicine Cat apprenticeship. Her devotion to the Warrior Code and also almost desperate desire to prove herself could have been a great source of manipulation for him.

As cliche as it would be, I agree Hollyleaf would be perfect for being trained in the Dark Forest. Tigerstar manipulating her to kill Ashfur would have made everything more interesting. Imagine Hollyleaf having a hard time deciding whether it's the right thing to do to kill Ashfur, torn between following the code or protecting her brothers and reputation. I can imagine it would be hard for her to struggle to get out of the Dark Forest with Tigerstar on her side, like how he believed Ivypool was on hers so she couldn't escape, and escapes the Clans into self-exile so she won't hurt anyone anymore after Cinderheart calls her out on her crimes and realizes she was wrong, and Tigerstar would no longer have any use for her. Hollyleaf never returns, ends up dying from the tunnel collapse to escape from Tigerstar and her own destruction that she caused. She was born loyal, only to die as a coward who made a lot of mistakes she couldn't fix because of her own self-destruction.

It would have been really interesting to see Mudclaw there to try to continue his ambition to become deputy- the Dark Forest feeding off his hate and jealousy.

Jayfeather could have been a very interesting DF trainee, and blind warrior tbh...would have preferred that over the other two options of the og three.

Don’t think that Hawkheart and Mudclaw could train in Dark Forest, they both have complex character but anyway they devoted to their clan, Warrior Code and Star Clan.
