Probably revengeshipping. Those were two characters who at the time were characters done bad by another, and the two wanted revenge on them, so they got shipped. Keep in mind during this time Ashfur was thought to be some innocent angel.

Yeahhh... I just got into an debate with someone on YouTube who said Ashfur would’ve been better than Bramblestar and that everything would’ve been avoided if Squirrelfight just stayed with Ashfur instead.

They also said that Hollyleaf is just as bad as Ashfur sooo... yikes.

Oh boy, I've seen a lot of AshfurxScourge back in the early 2010s, dubbing it as "Revengeshipping." Never really understood the appeal behind it either.

It's basically another one of those crackships. If you're not one for them in general you likely aren't for AshScourge as that's basically what it is.
I'm not into crackshipping for the very very most part either so it's not in my liking.

Something about MapleReed or MapleFreckle, just makes me...so uncomfortable.
