Is Hollyleaf a good character? Putting my own bias aside, I think she could have been written better. Her redemption was a little forced, but I'm still pretty happy with what we got from her, even if her own story did change because they couldn't think of a power for her. She's one of my favorites, but I know she has plenty of writing errors, especially when it comes to her redemption.

Her character is consistent, well-written and overall her downfall always seemed pretty in-character for me. For her character in OoTs, i wish she could have gotten more moments before she got her redemption but overall she's good for me.

I love her character but her potential was wasted when she died. She could’ve still had her redemption without dying. I was very disappointed as she’s my favorite character. I just wish she survived and became Hollystar at some point. Her character arc in PoT was very much in character besides her trying to poison Leafpool. She was very devoted to the warrior code, so she was so upset after finding out that she was part WindClan. Also her killing Ashfur was understandable, imo. He had tried to kill her and her brothers, and had admitted to aiding Hawkfrost take one of Firestar’s lives. She saw him as a threat to her and her family, so she took him out. |

I think she was a well-written character. As others have said, I wish she hadn't died, because a hard redemption or even turning evil would have been more interesting than her almost instantly dying after returning to the Clans, but I still like her a lot.

I still think that she should've been the third cat as her canon downfall resulted in two situations that have not really been resolved since they happened and this bothers me because it makes even more clear how the authors/editors could have avoided such a situation if only they had brainstormed enough to find a power for Hollyleaf.
(The two instances I'm talking about are Hollyleaf trying to kill her mother Leafpool with deathberries and the circumstances of Ashfur's death being hushed up though the latter might become important in the current TBC arc.)

The way she saved ivypool at the cost of her own life in The Last Hope is when I liked her the most.

I only liked her in OOTS and HS. In POT, she was a big hypocrite, and very obsessed with the warrior code. It made me mad. She had development tho, and I loved her in her novella. I still think Dovewing is a better third cat.

Hollyleaf died in PoT, consumed in her own arrogance and tragic self image problems. Her I really like, she's a great tragic character. The hollow shell in OOTS that exists for fanservice and has all the wrong that she did swept under the rug? Not so much

Hollyleaf is a well-written character, however, her coming back in OOTS was pure fan service and her redemption was really rushed. All in all, I still think she's a good one.

Hollyleaf was an interesting, new character when we first saw in PoT.
I hated her.
She was a total hypocrite, obsessed with the warrior code, and she was so annoying at that.
Her downfall was well-written, and I didn't care for her. Her death seemed pretty fitting for her character.
But when Hollyleaf returned in OotS?
Her redemption was so rushed, and her killing Ashfur and attempted murder of Leafpool wasn't resolved at all.
I still hate her, but I think she's a pretty good character.
