Wasn’t sure whether this should go in general or off topic discussion, so someone feel free to move this if I have it in in the wrong place.
So, as stated in the title, Cattails is a game that was formerly a Warriors fangame (Warriors: untold tales) but I got turned into its own original game. I picked it up because it was recommended for fans of Warriors. I wasn’t sure what to think of it at first, especially since there are still some similarities to Warriors fan games. But over time I begin to appreciate the differences that it had (and there are many) and it became one of my favorite games.
I think the biggest difference is the tonal shift. Cattails focuses more on slice of life elements, and things are relatively peaceful. It doesn’t have too much action or drama, but it really doesn’t need to. That’s not to say Warriors is bad because I bought it focuses on or Cattails is better, but it’s just a different way of looking at things that The game probably couldn’t have done if it was still a part of Warriors. The biggest weak point is that there’s not as much world building or character development, but with warriors going on as long as has been and with Cattails being standalone, having as much world building as Warriors is pretty hard to do.
Regardless, I enjoyed Cattails for what it was and liked that it was based off of Warriors, but with a different take. If you’ve played or even just heard of this game, what were your experiences and impressions? Did anyone here play the original fangame, and what did you think of it?

I actually have it on my Switch. I didn't even know it was originally a fangame until I saw a video mentioning it.

cattails is super cute! it really is such an improvement over untold tales, while still having a kind of warriors-y vibe. I'm glad to see the guy who made untold tales has gone on to do more.
i will say that i don't think cattails is really super content-heavy- but i don't mind that much. it's nice for what it is, and it's a sweet little game. I do agree that more character and world stuff would have been nice, though. i also don't imagine it having as much detail as warriors on its own, but i wish there was just a little more info.
also it gets so many points from me for letting me play as a cutesy candy colored cat with a crown while taking over the entire map through kitty war. spectacular

I have it on my Switch Lite too! Fun little game to play in between Monster Hunter Rise, Jurassic Park Evolution, and other longer games.

I play Cattails every once in a while. I love how relaxing and casual it is, and I especially love the soundtrack. It's my ultimate game for a rainy day.
When I first played it I wished it had more similarities to Warriors, such as having Clan names and Warrior names, but soon I got used to the differences. I now appreciate that it has its' own lore and unique aspects, since this means anyone can play Cattails and love it, weather or not they're a fan of Warrior Cats/have read the books or not. I like how this makes Cattails inclusive and open to all. (Though I still like playing games like Untold Tales which is much closer to the Warriors books than Cattails.)
