Uh-huh. "Loving too much", we've already covered that. "Good mentor"? He taught Lionblaze things the wrong way - or at least Lionblaze accused him of it. "Trustworthy, loyal to his Clan".... Yeah, because all trustworthy, loyal warriors attempt to murder their Clanmates and Clan leader, and plot with enemy warriors (Hawkfrost). And really? You're claiming that he might've been deputy and leader, and only isn't because of Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight? Just... really?

I love Hollyleaf as a character, but I found her reintroduction to the Clan to be a bit "too convenient" - Brambleclaw just lies and they're all like "oh, okay" and just drop the subject.

She also gets whitewashed in The Ultimate Guide, though not anywhere near the same extent as Ashfur. Here's part of what the Ultimate Guide says about her:

Hollyleaf was utterly broken by Squirrelflight’s revelation that she and her brothers had been born to different cats. Was Hollyleaf nothing but a sordid secret, hidden from her own Clanmates? She was terrified that Ashfur would tell the rest of the Clan and that she’d be driven out for being an aberration, a demonstration of what happened when the warrior code was trampled over. Hollyleaf knew she had to make Ashfur keep the dreadful secret, whatever it took. She didn’t mean to kill him — she struck, he slipped, and when he fell into the stream with blood streaming from the wounds in his throat, she knew he was beyond saving. There seemed no point in telling Firestar what had happened. She was being punished enough by her conscience—the warrior code said no cat must kill another—and by her fear that the truth would emerge anyway.
When she and her brothers discovered that Leafpool was their mother, and Crowfeather, a WindClan warrior, was their father, Hollyleaf was overwhelmed by the size of the secret she was trying to keep. The only way she could master it was by revealing everything herself, announcing the truth to a startled Gathering of the Clans, and disgracing Leafpool forever.

No, she revealed it because she hated Leafpool and Squirrelflight for their lies and for breaking the warrior code.
Also, "she didn't mean to kill him" and "she struck, he slipped"? That kinda contradicts this bit in Sunrise, no? This was no accident.

Jayfeather caught his breath. Beside him, he heard Lionblaze gasp, “You killed Ashfur?”
If Hollyleaf replied, Jayfeather didn’t hear it. Hating his power more than he ever had before, he had reached out to his sister’s memories. She was stalking Ashfur along the WindClan border stream, treading lightly, avoiding boulders where her claws might scrape or ferns that would brush against her fur. Ashfur, intent on hunting, never noticed she was there. Hollyleaf followed him like a shadow until they came to a place where the bank was steep and slippery, and the stream was a foaming snake far below. She pounced on him from a rock, gripping his shoulders with her forepaws and twisting her head around to sink her teeth into his throat. Inside the red mist that clouded her senses, Ashfur was nothing but prey, something that had to be killed to protect the warrior code and the future of her Clan.
Ashfur clawed feebly at her, but blood was gushing from his throat. His body went limp and Hollyleaf leaped away, letting it crash into the stream. She stood watching it for a while, until the swift-flowing water had washed away the blood.
Then she padded up to a pool of water on top of the bank and rinsed her paws, turning the water red.
Behind her, Ashfur’s body bobbed against the bank before floating away downstream.
“He should have been swept into the lake and never seen again.” Hollyleaf’s voice wrenched Jayfeather out of her terrible memories.

Briarlight too. Don't forget about her. It is completely and utterly unrealistic that she should survive so much. The fact that she has survived:

-The DF Battle

-A greencough epidemic (which, I might add, caused the death of several much stronger, healthier cats than Briarlight. Which either implies favoritism by the authors or the medicine cats, neither of which is acceptable)

-A flood

-Even the initial accident is unrealistic. She should have died right then.

The obvious favoritism just really grinds my gears.

Finally, someone understands the truth about Ashfur's murder! While I absolutely love Hollyleaf, it made me angry how they showed favoritism by excusing her own actions. Some of my friends still believe that it was an accident. Like, have you not read Sunrise or Hollyleaf's Story? The proof is right there!
