So Lionblaze has gotten a ton of relevance in TBC as of late, and it seems rather polarizing. Some people hate him, some love his current characterization. Especially in TPONS, the divide has grown greater still over the way he acts with Shadowsight.
So, what do you think on his characterization in TBC? Is it pushing his character in interesting ways or ruining him?

I don’t like his actions but I like his character. He’s a lot more interesting now than he he was as a MC.

I actually like him okay
I know a lot of people don't like how brash and angry he's being, but I think it makes 100% sense. If he was being levelheaded, that would be weird.
1. Lionblaze has always been a bit of a hothead (I think he takes a bit after his dad there)
2. This is EXTREMELY personal to him. Squirrelflight and Bramblestar are the cats he sees as parents (and I'd argue the adoptive cat who is closest to them), and then Ashfur is his ex-mentor who was pretty abusive and tried to kill him. This is a high stakes game with cats who are super close to him.
3. The way he acts towards Shadowsight makes sense. He likely sees him as the person who caused this whole thing to happen with "curing" Bramble, and then he let's Ashfur free. Shadowsight doesn't necessarily deserve the treatment, but for someone who is deeply hurt and probably panicking, Lionblaze's actions make sense (I love Shadowsight more than Lionblaze but still)
On the plus side, he has cats around him who will call him out and calm him down (proud of Miss Spotfur). I hope he'll learn from Greystripe

hes completely in character and i like the complex emotions hes feeling. if you look at things from his perspective, shadowsight does look pretty bad.

i've never been crazy about him. he was boring in Po3 and OotS and he was never anything special to me. i kind of like him a little bit in TBC. out of all the firekin, i would have him be leader for now.

I haven't read the latest book yet, so I can't judge him there, but everything he is doing is completely understandable and in-character for him.

He seems perfectly in character to me. I've always been a fan of him and I've been consistently loving him this arc. Lionblaze has always had issues with his temper (I think both he and Jayfeather always have) and his impulsive decisions, and this whole situation affects him quite personally. I would honestly consider it ooc for him if he wasn't angry.
Ashfur was the cat who tried to murder him and his siblings, and honestly reading through PoT again, I'd argue that Ashfur was even emotionally abusive to Lionblaze during his time as Ashfur's apprentice. Then Ashfur kills Bramblestar and possesses his body, feigning his identity and discriminating against Lionblaze and Jayfeather for their heritage. Once Lionblaze is told that it's Ashfur, that's when he gets aggressive and wants him dead. Who can blame him? Ashfur's actions were directly responsible for the disappearance of both of his parents (I consider Bramble and Squirrel to be his parents), ThunderClan being divided, and even two of Lionblaze's kits just leaving the Clan. Then when Squirrelflight is kidnapped, Lionblaze is thrust into the leadership position and has to deal with Tigerstar accusing him of just showing off his new status as acting leader.
He's understandably angry at Shadowsight too. From his perspective, Shadowsight is the cat responsible for letting Ashfur kill and possess Bramblestar and then later letting Ashfur escape, as well as everything else that came subsequently of Shadowsight's decisions. He's under a lot of stress and pressure, and knowing that the big bad is Ashfur of all cats is probably making him relive some not so pleasant memories. He had matured a lot and mellowed out since OotS, but Ashfur's return is making his more impulsive nature come back. Notice how it's when Ashfur is outed as the imposter is when his more aggressive tendencies show up.
That said, I do appreciate that he realized that he truly was too personally tied to the situation and was letting his anger cloud his judgement, and stepped down for Graystripe. I think that shows that despite all, Lionblaze has matured, and making way for someone like Graystripe to temporarily take over was the best choice.

As I've already said in a previous thread, I'm glad that he is now known for more than just being "strong" or, as he was labeled by a lot of people in the Warriors fandom, "the boring one". I'm probably so in awe of him because he reminds me of myself, excluding the accidentally (or intentionally) killing others situation. Lionblaze is still kinda the impulsive and hotheaded cat I know and love from the PoT and OotS arcs, just a bit older now. *Ottersplash* and Hollyfall explained Lionblaze's characterization, especially during this current arc, the best.

I love Lionblaze's current characterization. He's being written perfectly consistently and I love it and I really like him.
