(Yeah, i only got 3 classes this semester so i'm gonna be taking it easy until spring. Luckily the calls i was making are for a bid that's due on thursday so i don't really have to make the calls after tomorrow. Also, sorry for taking so long to respond. been burnt out. they made me go into work on saturday and i volunteer on sundays, so i've had literally no time to relax.) Lionpaw Lionpaw wasn't ready for Wishpaw to launch herself at him so quickly and she managed to land some blows. Doubling back, Lionpaw attempted to duck under her continued attacks and launch himself up underneath her in an attempt to unbalance her. Eaglepaw Eaglepaw tried to hold on, but very little could be done with sheathed claws. Realizing this, Eaglepaw purposely let go of her opponent, landing squarely on her paws as she dismounted. While Coalpaw was recovering, Eaglepaw redoubled her attack, launching herself back at the other apprentice. Flamestar "That, they are." Flamestar agreed as his deputy approached. Watching the apprentices for a moment longer, he added, "It looks like Wishpaw's making Lionpaw adapt to her fighting style. Hopefully he'll learn a thing or two from this." He turned to Waspbite and explained the rules to sparring. "When we have our apprentices spar for training, we require them to keep their claws sheathed so as to prevent them from hurting each other. The last thing we want is for training to be interrupted to heal avoidable injuries. It's also easier for them to learn without a fear of getting hurt during training." Snowy Snowy nodded at Flamestar's words and eyed the apprentices as they sparred, paying more attention to the two she-cats. Despite a clear size advantage, the larger apprentice was on the defensive, attempting to ward off the smaller she-cat, whose confidence impressed Snowy. She couldn't help but picture her and Spider watching kits of their own as they sparred, but quickly snapped out of it, refocusing on the current situation. Cloudear Cloudear used her paw to gently inspect Spider's injury, noting that some of the fur had begun to regrow. She noticed some slight inflammation, which worried her slightly, but the wound didn't show any other signs of infection, which was reassuring. "Your bite is healing well." She mentioned, motioning for Lillyfern to come closer. She pointed out a few important features of injuries to look out for, including inflammation and discoloration. Looking up at Spider, Cloudear said, "I think you'll be fine, but your bite is slightly warm, which is an early sign of infection. Just in case, I'm going to be cautious and use a marigold poultice to kill any chance of infection setting in." Turning to her side, she delicately unwrapped her bundle of herbs and withdrew some marigold. She showed Lillyfern how to chew the flower into a poultice, as well a how to apply it to the injury.

(I'm taking like 5 classes and a lab. But its only 13 credits if I remember correctly. I've got choir for one of those credits so I don't have to do extra work outside of class. And no worries about taking your time to post. I'll get up replies in the next day or so depending on how I feel.)

I'm into choir. I did it 3 years of high school and from the beginning of college. I would tell you how many years but I can't remember exactly with as many semesters as I've withdrawn from or taken off.)

Lol I get you. What voice section are you typically in? I am generally a bass/baritone, though my range is high enough to do most tenor stuff as well.)

Wishpaw Wishpaw grinned as some pf her attqvks fell 9n Lionpaw and he was forced to move. She didn't realize, however, that he had pushed under her until she was on her back. She growled and rolled to her feet after a few moments. She darted in to try to attack again.
Coalpaw Coalpaw had tried to shake off Eaglepaw but by the time she reacted the other she-cat was off her back and on the ground again. She sighed feeling exhausted and overwhelmed by how fast her opponent was. She raised her paw to swing at Eaglepaw's face as the other came back for another round of attack.
Waspbite The leader sat and watched back and forth between the two matches. "Do your apprentices ever spar with older cats? All of them look nearly full grown themselves." He commented looking at the four young cats compared to Crowflight and the others.
Basilwhisker The tom dipped his head to his leader and went to sit down back beside Rosefur. He was careful not to touch her or look too long in her direction.
Lillyfern Lillyfern stepped forward to watch as Cloudear inspected the paw. She could see where the fur was growing back and bent down to sniff it. It didn't smell bad but Cloudear had said there were signs of infection. "Where do you find marigold? I want to know for future refrence." She said taking in the look of the flower before watching the poultice be applied to the bite.
Spider Spider was getting tired of holding his paw up and moved it to set ut down while Cloudear showed Lillyfern how to chew up the herb. He held his paw back uo to have it applied. He nodded his thanks to Cloudear and Lillyfern. "Thanks. I'm gonna go lay down now and rest." He said before hopping away on 3 feet.
Tawny The blue-eyed she-cat with a calico coat stepped out of the den feeling rough. Ahe made her way to the dirtplace and heaved and gagged before getting sick. She felt heavy and tired. She walked backinto camp and looked around spotting Lillyfern with a strange cat. She padded over and sniffed before saying hello. "Hello. I'm Tawny." She said in a downtrodden tone. She felt quite sick and it was showing. She was pregnant with Waspbite's second litter of kits and had yet to find out. She was Waspbite's second mate besides Quail.

Lionpaw Once again on the defensive, Lionpaw tried to dodge Wishpaw's attack to little success. He took a few steps back as his opponent darted in, but he was tired and his exhaustion slowed his movements. He tried to duck underneath an incoming paw but, to the golden tom's frustration, Wishpaw's attack hit its mark. In a last effort to turn the tide, Lionpaw leapt at the rivaling apprentice, hoping to catch her off guard. Eaglepaw Eaglepaw adeptly slid just underneath Coalpaw's attack and whipped back around, looking to redouble her efforts and continue on the offensive. She lunged at Coalpaw, aiming a blow at her hind leg. Eaglepaw was confident that she had done well so far, but she didn't intend on letting up, especially with both the deputy and the leader spectating. Flamestar Flamestar nodded to Waspbite. "Occasionally, yes. The apprentices will often spar with their mentors, though typically it's to make sure they're performing certain moves correctly or to teach them how to defend against specific attacks. They definitely wouldn't fight like this, though." He looked back at towards the sparring apprentices and noticed Basilwhisker stop next to Rosefur, though neither seemed to pay extra attention to each other. Perhaps Brackentail was wrong. He thought before returning his focus on Wishpaw and Lionpaw's bout. Snowy Snowy nodded along as Flamestar explained. Mentors seemed like a good idea and she realized that the other cats present must be the mentors. In addition to Basilwhisker and Crowflight, whom she'd already met, there were two other cats she didn't recognize. Cloudear "Sounds good!" Cloudear called to Spider as he hobbled away. The medicine cat then turned towards Lillyfern to answer her question. "I obviously haven't been able to look around here for any as of yet," She started. "But on Hollowclan territory, it typically grows near water. I'll make sure to help you look for some before I have to leave." She was going to say more, but was interrupted by another cat's approach. "Nice to meet you, Tawny." Cloudear responded as the she-cat introduced herself. "My name's Cloudear. I'm the medicine cat from Hollowclan. Is there anything I can help you with?"

Wishpaw Wishpaw grinned as her attacks fell on Lionpaw. She got caught up in the pleasure of it and missed the signs that he was going to leap on her until he made contact. She growled and wriggled underneath the heavier apprentice. She couldn't get free without a fight and bit whatever she could reach to get him off of her. Of course she did so with just enough pressure to where Lionpaw would feel it without hurting him immensly.
Coalpaw Coalpaw felt herself tiring as Eaglepaw easily slipped under her attacks. She sighed and kept launching them and missing. She felt her hind leg buckle as Eaglepaw's paw connected with it. She fell to the ground with a thump and cried out as the wind was knocked out of her. She lay there defeated as she looked up at her smaller, younger opponent. "You're really good." She said when she finally caught her breath and got to her paws.
Waspbite Waspbite just nodded as Flamestar explained how the mentors would check that their apprentices were doing moves correctly by sparring with them. He wondered if he would one day take an apprentice and train a young cat. He thought about how Oak and the others would show Tick and Echo stuff about hunting and fighting. "How do you choose who will mentor the apprentices?" He paused and took a breath holding back on his many other questions he had and choosing just one more. "ALso how do your names work? I know mine and Lillyfern's follow some part of your system but I don't know how."
Lillyfern Lillyfern nodded at Cloudear's comment about the flowers growing near water. She looked up as Tawny walked up looking awful. She sat down and looked at Cloudear to watch and listen to what the Medicine Cat would do for the obviously sick she-cat.
Tawny Tawny shook her head as fuzzies danced in her vision. "I'm feeling quite nauseous and dizzy."She said sitting down with a thump. She Sighed and continued. "Ive been getting sick too. I don't know why I'm feeling so bad." She said shifting her weight.

Lionpaw Lionpaw jumped up, surprised, as he felt Wishpaw bite him. Wrenching himself free, he pushed off of her with his hind legs, giving one last shove before breaking contact with her. He landed awkwardly, however, and his hindleg buckled beneath him. He let out a hiss as he regathered his leg underneath him, pain radiating through it. Eaglepaw Eaglepaw approached Coalpaw, slightly out of breath. "You're not bad yourself." The smaller apprentice replied, returning the compliment. "I thought you had me there a few times." Eaglepaw turned to look at Crowflight, a proud look on her face. Flamestar Flamestar thought for a moment, trying to gather the right words. "Appointing a mentor isn't a light decision to be made." The ginger tom started off. "You have to find a cat who matches the apprentice's personality and physicality. For example, Lionpaw," He indicated towards the golden apprentice. "Is my apprentice currently. Our previous leader appointed me to him because we're both competitive and on the larger side. My fighting and hunting styles will help fit him better and I will know how to better train him mentally and focus his competitiveness to help the clan rather than getting into trouble. As far as names go, when a cat is born, they are given a name that ends in kit, for example, my brother has a son named Duckkit. Once a kit reaches six moons old and is made an apprentice, their name will change, so for example, Duckkit would become Duckpaw. After an apprentice completes their training, they are given their warrior name. The leader chooses a name that best describes them, whether it be personality or appearance, For instance, my warrior name was Flamepelt because my pelt is flame colored. That name will typically stay a clan cat's name for the rest of their life, unless they become leader, like I am. Then the leader goes to the Moon-Mushrooms and undergoes their leader ceremony, where they are given nine lives and given their new name as leader, which ends in 'star' like mine." Snowy Snowy listened along carefully, though her attention was still on the sparring apprentices. She noticed that Lionpaw, the apprentice Flamestar had pointed out, was favoring his hind leg a bit. She was concerned, but decided not to say anything. Surely one of the other cats had noticed. Cloudear Cloudear nodded as she took a few steps towards Tawny to examine her. The medicine cat rested a paw on the she-cat's forehead, making sure her temperature wasn't high. "Well, you don't have a fever. Have you eaten anything strange recently? Some not-so-freshkill perhaps, or a plant with white flowers?" The medicine cat doubted that Tawny had eaten any yarrow, but she wanted to make sure she addressed all possibilities.

Wishpaw Wishpaw let out a sigh of relief as she felt Lionpaw fall away from her. She stumbled forward herself and nearly fell on her face. When she regained her paws she turned and saw Lionpaw was hurt. "Someone help." She shouted.
Coalpaw Coalpaw chuckled. "I'm not very good at fighting truthfully. I'd rather hunt." She ducked her head shyly. She liked Eaglepaw though she hadn't spent much time training with her as she preferred to work with just Brackentail.
Basilwhisker Basilwhisker had been watching as Wishpaw and Lionpaw finished up and saw something was wrong with Lionpaw immediately as the apprentice came away. He ran as Wishpaw yelled for help. "Can you move it?" He asked concerned for the apprentice's health.
Waspbite Waspbite nodded at the other leader's words. He would need to think hard about who would mentor Tick and Echo. As for the naming he had ideas for a few of the cats in his soon to be clan. "Thanks for the explanation." He then heard Wishpaw scream and turned to the area it came from. "That doesn't look good." Was all he managed taking a step away from the incident.
Tawny "No. I ate a vole that was fresh earlier. But I've been sick for days it seems." She shifted her weight again and her stomach seemed to move a little. She coughed and gagged a little as her stomach moved. She felt bloated and confused. "I don't know what it could be. I avoid any prey thats more than a day old."

Lionpaw "I think s-ow!" Lionpaw exclaimed as he tried to flex his leg. He tried putting weight on it and was relieved that he could walk on it, though it still hurt pretty bad. "I think I can walk on it if I had to." The golden apprentice proclaimed through gritted teeth. Eaglepaw "Don't discredit yourself. You did fine!" Eaglepaw insisted. She knew what it was like to feel inadequate, especially during the earlier days of her apprenticeship. "When you think about it, hunting is-" She was cut off by commotion coming from where Lionpaw and wishpaw had been sparring. Looking over, she noticed her brother favoring his paw. "Looks like Wishpaw won." She commented grimly. Flamestar Flamestar nodded, but a cry from Wishpaw caught his attention. He noticed Lionpaw was favoring his leg and hurried forward to check on his apprentice. He watched as Lionpaw tried to put weight on his paw and knew that the apprentice's injury would need attention. Looking over at Brackentail, he beckoned his brother over and said, "Can you go get Gazepaw? I don't want Lionpaw walking all the way back to camp without knowing how bad his leg is." Brackentail nodded and took off for camp. Snowy Snowy stood and walked over towards Waspbite, giving the clan cats more space to figure out what to do. "I hope he's alright." She said, though it was more her thinking out loud, rather than speaking to anyone in particular. Seeing the apprentice with the injured paw reminded her of Spider and she wondered if Cloudear had checked him yet. Cloudear Cloudear thought for a moment before coming up with a theory. "I think I may know what it is." She stated. "In order to be sure, I need to listen to your heartbeat. Just breathe normally." With that, Cloudear put an ear to Tawny's side, hearing the she-cat's heartbeat, along with multiple faint heartbeats. "Well, I have good news." She announced. "You aren't sick."

Gazepaaw Gazepaw was laying outside of the medicine den and watching the clan. He wondered about what the other apprentices were doing now as he licked his silver fur. He bathed slowly taking the time to lick eawch bit of fur twice to make it nice and shiny. He sighed a little as he finished and glanced around camp before getting up and walking into the stores to sort the herbs.
Wishpaw Wishpaw cringed as Lionpaw got to his feet. She felt bad that she had won because he had gotten hurt and wanted to apologize but knew it wouldn't fix his leg. "Why don't you sit back down. You don't need to walk anywhere." She said to the other apprentice while keeping her distance from him.
Coalpaw Coalpaw nodded hanging on the words of th other until she cut off. She looked over at her sister and Lionpaw and immediately sat down. "I'm sorry your brother is hurt. I'm sure she wouldn't have pushed him the way she did if she thought he would be hurt." SHe said in a small voice.
Waspbite Waspbite watched from a distanc as one of the older cats took off away from the others. He heard Snowy talk but said nothing. He sat down and sighed unsure what to do now.
Tawny Tawny looked up and felt confused. "What do you mean I'm not sixk?" SHe asked quietly. She knew it didn't add up that she was feeling so sick and yet she wasn't. She backed away from CLoudear and shook her head. She looked at Lillyfern but the other she-cat just shook her head just as confused.
((It saved it))

Lionpaw Lionpaw opened his jaws to say something, but thought better of it and did as Wishpaw said. He sat down, holding his leg at a weird angle so as to prevent putting any weight on it. "Don't think you're getting out of this that easily." The golden tom joked, more just trying to take his mind off of the pain. "As soon as I'm better, I'm getting a rematch." Eaglepaw "I don't blame Wishpaw a bit." Eaglepaw stated as she kept eying the other two apprentices. "Lionpaw wouldn't have wanted her to go easy on him, anyways. He's too competitive for his own good sometimes." Eaglepaw finished her statement with a scratch of the ear, then looked towards where Brackentail and Crowflight had been standing. She was surprised by Brackentail's absence, but assumed he was off to get help. Flamestar Flamestar looked over at Waspbite and gave him an apologetic look. "Sparring can have it's risks, even if we take precautions." He said, glancing once more at Lionpaw, who was now sitting. "This certainly isn't a normal occurrence though. Just bad luck. Once Gazepaw gets here, I'll show you our camp and how we do things there." Cloudear "I mean you aren't sick." Cloudear repeated, amusement rich in her voice. She didn't get to give good news too often, especially recently, so Cloudear was more than happy to finally get to relay something positive for a change. "Far from it, actually. I'm actually surprised that no one told you sooner. You're pregnant!" Brackentail The steady thump of Brackentail's paws connecting with the forest floor resonated as the brown tom sprinted towards camp, making sure to avoid tripping over any roots or branches. The last thing they needed was two injured cats. He slowed slightly as camp came into view. He shot through the camp entrance and headed towards the medicine cat's den. He popped his head in, spotting Gazepaw. "Gazepaw, we need your help." He stated, out of breath. "Lionpaw's hurt."

(I'm officially moved into college!! And now for my replies)
Wishpaw Wishpaw grimiced when she saw Lionpaw hold his leg at a weird angle. "I'll take you on any time" She said with a playful growl. She looked in the direction of where camp was hoping to soon see her brother coming toward them. She wasn't sure if Cloudear had taught him how to look after this type of injury yet. "Do you think its a sprain or does it feel like something broke?" She asked her curiosity getting the better of her.
Coalpaw Coalpaw nodded. "I think Wishpaw is the same way. That's why they work so well against each other. I would hate to see how they would work as a team. I think they would butt heads too much and give their enemy an advantage." Coalpaw paused and thought before continuing "Wishpaw has always been a rambuncious one though. Always play fighting and trying to comw up with some game to play." She shook her head and watched as Lionpaw continued to be his boastful self despite his injury and Wishpaw giving spunk right back to him.
Waspbite "I can imagine it does have its risks. Just like hunting and lving in the wild." Waspbite said with a curt nod. Then he smiled as he watched what seemed to be a quick banter between the injured apprentice and his sparring partner. "I thought you sent your healer with Lillyfern to our camp?" He said not realizing that Flamestar had said Gazepaw meaning that he was an apprentice as well.
Tawny and Lillyfern Tawny looked at the medicine cat with bewilderment as she seemed happy to announce that though everything pointed to her being sick that she was infact not sick. Her eyes opened wide when she announced that Tawny was pregnant. "Oh that can't be. That would mean that Waspbite has fathered two litters nearly at the same time. Its only been a moon or so since Quail figured out she was pregnant." Tawny sat down and stared at Cloudear and Lillyfern.
Lillyfern smiled when CLoudear announced that Tawny wasw pregnant. It was no wonder that she had been feeling sick. "Congratulations are in order then I see. Plus moving in with Quail." She purred at the expecting queen. Then she looked at Cloudear "I might send for you, Cloudear, when it comes time for Quail's kitting because I don't think anyone in camp has experience with that."
Gazepaw Gazepaw looked up from the stores as Brackentail came into the den. "what happened? I need a little information so I can bring the right herbs" He asked grabbing some poppy seeds just in case and a big leaf to wrap the herbs up in. He worried a little that he wouldn't be equipped to handle this without Cloudear if it was too bad. He had only treated minor injuries without the help of his mentor.
(what were you thinking happened? Just a sprain or did he break a bone. I know he will need to get a stick and cobweb to set the leg but I don't know what to have him grab for herbs. I'll have to look up herbs for whatever you say but I feel like comfrey root is something he needs.))

(I'm thinking just a sprain. I know they typically reserve binding the leg for breaks or torn muscles, ligaments, etc. Sprains they usually just slap a poultice made from elder leaves on it. Comfrey is better for broken bones, but it can help relieve stiffness in sprained shoulders. I'm getting up a response right now but my laptop might die on me before I can get it up. also, congrats! My college is in my hometown so I don't really have to change much.)

Lionpaw "I could walk on it if I had to, so I don't think it's broken. At least I hope it isn't, or else Eaglepaw might have her warrior ceremony before me." The apprentice moved his leg a little, wincing at the pain shooting through it. "I gotta say though, you fight really well. If I wouldn't have known better, I would've thought you were a warrior already." Lionpaw glanced away, slightly embarrassed for giving her a compliment. Eaglepaw "Lionpaw's always been like that, too." Eaglepaw meowed. "He'd always be trying to play something or get into trouble. I don't know if you remember this, but shortly before his apprentice ceremony, he decided he was going to hunt down a fox that had been reported. He snuck out of camp and Thymestar and Flamepelt had just about half the clan out looking for him. I wouldn't put it past him to still try something that mousebrained now." She looked at her brother, who, despite his injury, didn't seem too disheartened. Flamestar "Gazepaw is Cloudear's apprentice." Flamestar explained. "Medicine cat apprentices usually train much longer than warrior apprentices and still learn from their mentor, even after their apprenticeship is over." Flamestar kept his gaze between Lionpaw and towards camp, hoping Gazepaw would get there soon. Cloudear "I'd be glad to help!" Cloudear purred to Lillyfern. "Helping deliver kits can seem pretty intimidating to new medicine cats, but it's one of the best parts of being a medicine cat. The only thing better than saving a life is helping bring a new life into the world." Brackentail "He was sparring and he hurt his leg." Brackentail explained. "I didn't get too good of a look when it happened, but I think he landed on it wrong. Flamestar wanted you to check on him before they tried to get him back to camp so doesn't injure it more."

(I'm gonna have Gazepaw forget that Comfrey root is for broken bones or have him bring it in case it is broken. Thanks for telling me that so that I didn't have to look it up. And wow I don't think I could do a college so close to home. I like having some distance between me and my family.)
Wishpaw
Wishpaw nodded at Lionpaw's answer. She winced when he did though having sympathy pain in her own leg. She sat there and thought about how Rosefur had joked that Lionpaw was her boyfriend and shook her head. She had no room for a mate in her future. She planned to become leader one day and a mate would hold her back. She snapped back to the present and shook her head. "Just hold on. I think that Gazepaw is coming.
Coalpaw
Coalpaw laughed. "I think I do remember hearing about that. I think Brackentail took me out to look for him. I had only been an apprentice a moon or two at that point." She glanced at Eaglepaw and then looked back toward Wishpaw who seemed to be in another place.
Waspbite
The leader nodded. "Oh okay. I don't think that either of our apprentices want to be a medicine cat. Nor do I think that Lillyfern is ready for an apprentice." He watched as the injured tom moved his leg again and sighed. He felt bad for him.
Lillyfern
The new medicine cat nodded. "I think I should only need help once. After that Quail and I can work together to help Tawny. So what's next for you to show me?" She looked over at the willow tree feeling some pull to go over there. She got up and padded towards it sniffing at it. "Do you have your own den?"
Gazepaw
Gazepaw nodded and started to grab herbs. "I don't know if its a break or a sprain so I'm going to bring both comfrey root and elder leaves." He took a clump of leaves and tossed them onto his leaf and grabbed a peice of fat brown root. He warrped the bundle and looked at it and the poppy head. "Please grab the poppy head and lead the way." He grabbed his bundle and headed slowly out of the den.
