🌙 “I guess Brightstar would sound best.” Thistlepaw looked up from picking his fur and grinned playfully. “But I like the sound of Brightsun or Brightleaf. Thistlestar would definitely approve those names.” The apprentice made a face as Brightpaw mentioned ‘Thistlefish’, that would be an awful name for sure and since Brightpaw said ‘Thistleheart’ sounded prickly it had lost the nice ring it had to it. “Oh your’re right.. I didn’t think that one through. So Thistleheart is a no for me then.” He rolled the chestnut under his white paw, glancing around to see whether the other apprentices had returned already but there seemed to be no trace of them yet. “What do you think Flashpaw and Pinkpaw’s warrior names could be?”

Brightpaw Brightstar, huh? It does stand out, I'll give him that. It was a nice name for sure, but the title that came with it... not so appealing to Brightpaw. The older apprentice echoed the other names Thistlepaw picked out, nodding to himself. "Not bad, Thistlestar's pretty good at this whole naming business," he mewed back. "That said, having 'sun' in my name seems just a liiittle too ironic for my tastes. Like, 'oh, hey, that's Brightsun the Moonclan cat'!"
Prompted about the other two apprentices, he took a moment to consider what names would best fit them. "How about Flashstrike or Flashfire? Flashfoot? And for Pinkpaw... Pinkclaw... Pinkfeather?" He tipped his head to the side. Naming was harder than he'd thought. Leaders must have it as a skill since they seem to get it right every single time. "Let's hear Thistlestar's take then." |

🌙 “Well, it’s better than Brightsun of Sunclan, right? I bet they’d all be jealous of your name.” Thistlepaw laughed at the thought of it. It was nice to have some time without worry, thinking about these kind of things. Being a leader never appealed to the young tom but it was fun to discuss what kind of warrior names the apprentices could get. “Yeah, Flashstrike sounds pretty good actually.” He nodded thoughtfully. “Flashstripe or Flashdawn maybe. I really like Pinkfeather for Pinkpaw!” His whiskers twitched enthousiastically. “I guess she could be Pinkear or Pinkclaw too, she’s pretty good at fighting and such.” He rolled the chestnut he had been playing with to the bush they stashed their stuff under. When it was neatly put away he turned back to Brightpaw. “Aren’t you nervous for your assessment?” He asked curiously, he was already nervous for his assessment while it was still moons away. Brightpaw had always seemed more confident about everything though.

Brightpaw "You may have a point!" Brightpaw chuckled, tail curling up with amusement. Sunclan cats being jealous of him over his warrior name was a funny thought. "Speaking of Sunclan, I wonder if any of their apprentices are close to becoming warriors," he mused. Under the tree, he found another small chestnut so he rolled it over to sit next to Thistlepaw's. "Not really, I'm pretty confident in my skills," he replied at first to Thistlepaw's next question. The more he dwelt on his upcoming assessment, however, the more he felt nervous about it. "But the officialness of it is kinda scary, huh? And failing would be pretty embarrassing. Who knows? On the day I might be shaking in my fur!" |

🌙 “I think that striped tabby would become a warrior soon, her name was Tigerpaw I think. Maybe that other tabby tom too.” Thistlepaw wasn’t that good with names but he could still remember their faces from the last time he went to a gathering. “Will their assessments be at the same time as yours? Like, would you be swimming around the island together?” He wasn’t too sure yet about all the stuff that went with doing an assessment but he admired Brightpaw’s calmth. He shook his head at the apprentice’s last comment. “Nooo, I can’t imagine that happening to you! I’m sure it’ll be fine, you’ve trained a lot after all.” He couldn’t recall whether there had been a failure in the short time he was around. The only ‘failure’ usually resulted in death for Moonclan apprentices. Which was a scary thought. He decided to keep it to himself, not wanting to stress out Brightpaw. Now he’d not only made himself nervous for his own assessment, he’d made himself nervous for Brightpaw’s too. “Heh.” The black and white apprentice let out a soft nervous laugh as he plucked some more dead leaves from his fur.

Brightpaw Brightpaw had heard that Tigerpaw was one of the older Sunclan apprentices so that sounded about right. The 'other tabby tom' didn't ring any bells, but then, Brightpaw hadn't been to the gathering for the past two moons. "I don't know," he replied, realising he hadn't considered that. He wondered if it was common for apprentices to take their assessments together or whether cats had to complete their assessments alone. "Maybe they'd make us go in opposite directions? Or maybe they'd just reschedule for another day." Thistlepaw's next words made him puff out his chest a little, confidence duly bolstered. "You're right, I have trained a lot and it isn't as if apprentices fail often. I think we'll both do fine when the time comes." The most recent failure, as far as he could remember, had been Wavestep's sister and that had occurred before he'd been born. Not to mention, she'd been swimming in a storm. Brightpaw wasn't especially worried about anything that terrible happening for his assessment. "You know, I'll be expecting you to come cheer for me, right?" |

Moonclan Flashpaw-Forest Flashpaw returned, with some flowers and a pinecone. Adding them to the pile under the bush. She had made sure to only collect flowers she knew she didn't see in the medicine cat den, and if it turned out she still made the mistake of grabbing herbs, then that just meant they would have some more herbs which wouldn't hurt anything. She glanced briefly to the two talking toms, Pinkpaw must still be out. |

🌙 Thistlepaw nodded, glad that Brightpaw was confident in his own skills. “Oh yeah, I’ll definitely be there to cheer you on!” He smiled. It would be good to see another apprentice do the assessment first too, maybe it would settle his nerves for his own assessment. He glanced over at Flashpaw as she returned with some nice stuff to hand out to their clanmates. “Hey Flashpaw, did you come across Pinkpaw along the way?” He wondered what took the other she-cat so long but he knew she was very driven and it wouldn’t surprise him if she requested more training herself.

Moonclan Flashpaw-Forest-Thistlepaw, Brightpaw Flashpaw shook her head to his question. "I didn't see her or Briarstar," she answered him. "The only trace of them was just their scent trail heading for one of the training grounds." She hoped the two were okay, they had been gone for a while, but hopefully it was just a case of the training going longer than planned.s |

Brightpaw Brightpaw flexed his paws, clearly trying to exercise patience despite his desire to move further afield. "They're certainly taking their time." He sounded mildly disgruntled, unsure of what to do about this unforeseen problem. I wonder if it's okay to wait so long. What if the two of them are out all afternoon? His plan wasn't progressing quite as perfectly as he had imagined although they had made a good start.

That way they could work more efficiently together in finding nice trinkets and prey. But he might as well take this time to just chat with his denmates. "So Flashpaw, Brightpaw and I were just discussing what our warrior names might be since he's so close to his assessment. What do you think yours will be?" He asked curiously while he used his white paw to dig over some dirt in the hopes it had something pretty beneath it. |

Moonclan Flashpaw-Forest-Thistlepaw, Brightpaw Flashpaw blinked as she thought it over. "I am not sure honestly. I never really gave it much thought," she said. If she got lucky, she would hopefully have her assessment during any time that wasn't greenleaf so she would never have to touch the water. "But maybe Flashtalon or Flashdusk. Maybe Flashpounce....Flashstrike sounds cool as well." She shook out her fur. "But I would be happy with whatever Briarstar chooses." i was thinking of doing Flashtalon for her name, but I am slowly falling in love with Flashstrike) |

The apprentice spotted a small feather lodged in the undergrowth and dashed over to get it before returning to Flashpaw and Thistlepaw. "Hey, unrelated, but I wonder if there are any bird's nests around here. If there are, maybe we could swipe some eggs."

🌙 Thistlepaw nodded enthousiastically. "Yeah! Maybe we should suggest it to Briarstar, since we're just that great at coming up with warrior names." He chuckled at his denmates. His blue gaze followed Brightpaw as he retreived the feather. "That would be great. We don't have eggs in camp often, it would be a real treat." He glanced up to the trees to see if he could spot a nest in between the twigs and leaves.

Brightpaw Brightpaw glanced between them questioningly. "Do either of you know how to climb?" He was fairly confident in his own abilities, having gone over tree-climbing with his mentor a few times as well as on his own. If Thistlepaw and Flashpaw weren't as sure, it would be better for him to do the climbing so that they didn't risk harming themselves. Just imagining the scolding any resulting injury would earn him made the fur along his spine prickle. "Because I could go up and have a look, see if I can spot a nest?"

The older apprentice wandered over to the base of the nearest tree and gestured upwards with his tail. "I'd say this this looks like a good one," he remarked, turning to look at Flashpaw. "We could check by the reeds later, though you may have to remind me what loon eggs look like. Black spots right?"

She jumped up and began to climb up the tree, resting on a branch as she looked up among the higher branches. "I think I see one!" She worked on climbing up a little higher into the tree where she thought she saw the outline of a nest. |

When she called down to them, he whooped happily, glad that they might have something else to add to their pile. "Do you want some help carrying them down?" Eggs needed to be treated carefully and he was slightly concerned that Flashpaw might drop them on the way down. |

Moonclan Flashpaw-Forest-Brightpaw and Thistlepaw Flashpaw got up to where the nest is. "Yea that would be nice there is quite a few eggs in here," she called down to the tom She worked on carefully getting on to a neighboring branch to the nest so that way it would be easy for Brightpaw to climb up if the tom choose to. She looked down t the ground below, yes she would definitely need help carrying the eggs down. |

🌙 Thistlepaw had climbed a few times before but he couldn’t say he was very confident in his climbing skills yet so when Flashpaw offered to go up he didn’t protest. He watched Flashpaw go into the tree, hoping she would be able to come up and down unharmed. “Oh that’s great!” The tom exclaimed as Flashpaw confirmed there was a nest filled with eggs in the tree. “Should I come up to or will you two manage to get them all down?” He asked, he’d rather not go up but if he could help them he’d definitely do it.

Moonclan Flashpaw-Forest-Brightpaw and Thistlepaw Flashpaw shook out her head. "I think two will be enough," she called down. Plus in case anything were to happen like one of them getting stuck, it would be good to have one cat on the ground to be able to go get help. It would be easy to come up with an excuse for them being in a tree, such as simply practicing their climbing abilities, so the plan would be safe of collecting thing to give to their clanmates. She flicked her tail as she steadied herself on the branch she was on waiting. |

Brightpaw "Alright, hang on," Brightpaw called up, leaping and hooking his claws into the wooden trunk. He then began to climb up to Flashpaw, eventually stopping at the branch she had just moved on from. "Take as many as you can carry and I'll see if I can handle the rest." They weren't too high up, but it was high enough that any eggs would break if they dropped them. When they got low enough, they could pass them to Thistlepaw to place by the bush.
(That's good!
I was worried that the alliteration might be tacky haha) |

Moonclan Flashpaw-Forest-Brightpaw, Thistlepaw Flashpaw gave a nod, taking two of the eggs carefully, and began to make her descent down the tree. She kept a good grip on the eggs not wanting to drop them, when she got close enough to the ground where Thistlepaw could catch the eggs. "Thistlepaw catch," she said to the tom on the ground dropping down one of the eggs to the him. |

🌙 Thistlepaw waited patiently at the base of the tree, his blue gaze following the pair up in the leaves. As Flashpaw started to approach with one of the eggs he placed his front paws against the tree bark, elongating himself to catch the egg as the she-cat dropped it. He caught the egg and gently dropped it to the forestfloor, making sure it didn’t break. With his white paw he rolled it under the bush with the pile of stuff. Swiftly he turned around to return to the base of the tree for the next egg to be dropped.

She looked up to Brightpaw. "How many more are there," she called up to him, willing to climb back up if there were to many for him to handle. |

Brightpaw "Three!" Brightpaw announced from where he stood, now on the branch neighbouring the nest. He leaned out to reach into the nest and grab a couple of the eggs. Unfortunately, the third was two much for him to carry comfortably, he would have to go back for it. Being careful not to put too much pressure on the shells, he started to descend. When he was low enough to pass them over, he gave one to Flashpaw and the other to Thistlepaw. |

🌙 Thistlepaw carefully took another egg from Brightpaw and carried it back to the same bush. Their stash was already growing well, once they’d go to the shores they’d surely find enough nice things to hand out to everyone. “We’re doing quite good.” He smiled as he glanced over at the other two apprentices. Hopefully Pinkpaw would be proud at their findings too but he would’ve liked it if she could join in on the fun.
