Mint suggested that we possibly move Personal Dens and make it a subboard of Off Topic Discussions -- so everyone knows it exists.
Instead of us (staff), making the big decision immediately, we'd prefer to poll. Feel free to share your thoughts.
Support for moving the board, as of 4/6/2021, is pretty high. Not what I expected.

What exactly is Personal Dens about? Personal Dens are a bit like public forum bedrooms - you can do mostly what you want there as long as it is within the rules. You can use it to chat with your friends, post your creative work such as Rp characters, make a list of your favorite books and why, etc. My Personal Den is still under construction but I plan to use it to document my RP characters and the Erin Hunter Books I have read. The main thing to remember though is that despite being personal spaces they're still part of the forum and can be viewed by everyone, so they aren't quite like a real life bedroom. It can be hard to define as each Personal Den is so different, but you can get a good idea if you have a look around there for the general vibe of it. Off Topic is more designed for totally open questions, comments and more that you're happy for anyone at all to join in and discuss (you can join in in Personal Dens too, but you may have dens where people request nobody else posts there or only their friends). I think there's a lot of overlap at the moment between Personal Dens and off-topic, so it makes total sense to make Personal Dens a subform of off topic to me. It will still be easy to access and find for those who need it and make the homepage a bit clearer. I am curious what will happen to Mate Threads though, is it possible to make a sub-topic of a sub topic or will it just be removed/archived? It's very dead so I cant say I would miss it being gone considering how small the forum is these days, but I'm still a fairly new user in the grand scheme of the forums so others may feel differently about it. |

I'm also in support of archiving mate threads since the last couple of times I peeked in there people seem to think it's some kind of dating service, and on a forum for childrens books thats a bit... hm.
