*Beware of spoilers from The Place of No Stars (TBC5) in the discussion below. “If you have half the courage and loyalty of Firestar, you will be a fine leader for ThunderClan.” Bluestar to the newly named Bramblestar, The Last Hope.
What are your thoughts on Bramblestar's leadership? Has he been a good leader since he earned his name and lives? Bonus question: do you think he should remain leader throughout TBC and Arc 8?

I'd say that Bramblestar has been... okay. I don't know what happened to him in BrS however- he just sort of became a Firestar-lite and lost all his previous personality.
And I hope Brambletstar dies. He's been around WAY too long, I'm sick of him, he just deserves to die and live out the rest of his days in StarClan. Please die, Bramblestar. Please.

I don't mind his leadership, but I think he could do better. It sucks that he's put on a pedestal, and has to be as good as Firestar, he kinda just lost most of his confidence in BrS because of that. It's kinda like the situation with Rowan having to live up to Blackstar, except Bramble actually is tolerable.

he was good until squirrelflight's hope ruined him for no reason other than to make us root for squirrelflight, but then TBC is right after it, and we dont get much of him bc of plot edit: if bramble and squirrel both dont die at the end of TBC, i will hate TBC even more but when he's a ghost, he acts totally normal and innocent as if the SE that takes place right before TBC never happened...yeah ok lol

Overall he was pretty good. He wasn't overly aggressive or neglectful. He balanced caring for his Clan and being fair to outsiders very well. He's no Firestar, and that's how it should be. Whoever succeeded him was going to be in his shadow, and Bramblestar has handled it remarkably well. This all said...I am ready for someone new. My biggest pet peeve is when they tease something and never bring it to fruition. They teased a new leader for ThunderClan. Now they had better pull the trigger and axe at least Bramble, if not him and Squirrel, for good.

The problem is that he doesn't have half the courage of Firestar. His leadership is characterized by Thunderclan being weak and capitulating to whatever demands the other clans have, even when they are unreasonable. Shadowclan wants some kits? They'll have them. Darktail is lurking on our border? Oh no, a few rogues are so scary! Tigerstar starts powertripping just like grandpa did? Oh please great Tigerstar, don't get mad at us, we'll do whatever you want.
His big problem is his temerity, he just lacks spine. He's a weak leader, but he happens to exist in a time period where even a weak leader can be successful because he does have other talents. Sometimes his insistence on diplomacy can be useful and it has kept the peace pretty well, so I guess that while he suffers in times of crisis with not making good decisions, he is a decent enough peacetime leader.

vectoring34 summed up my thoughts on Bramblestar's leadership pretty well. I also believe that a reason why Bramblestar is so hesitant to not be a door mat for the other clans, is because he is so desperate to prove that he is not like his father, that he will be overly peaceful, and hide his head in the sand, even when it is time to fight. Another thought I have about Bramblestar's leadership is how generic he seems during it. I feel no difference reading his scenes as opposed to reading the scenes of someone like Mistystar during her leadership.

I'd say he's pretty okay, but some of his cowardly tendencies and his obsession with having to live up to Firestar's legacy sometime harms the Clan.

vectoring34 and Harestar also summed up my thoughts on Bramblestar's leadership as I think that he is certainly not one of the best leaders ThunderClan has ever had but I'm also inclined to not put him with the worst of the bunch. I do however feel like the reason for Bramblestar being so cowardly could be because he might still be scared of the other cats comparing him to his villainous father instead of seeing him as a seperate being from Tigerstar's legacy. As for the conclusion of TBC I hope that both him and his mate finally die and ascend to StarClan.

Unimpressive, if I'm being perfectly honest. And I hate to compare him to Firestar, but in this case, unlike with our ginger friend, nothing about him really screamed "future leader" to me even when he was still a protagonist. He was always painfully average at best and a bit of a doormat at worst. Don't get me wrong, he's far from the worst leader ThunderClan has had, but he's not exactly the most memorable, either.
