โ Danger Is Very Real, But Fear Is A Choice โโ

โ Setting Of Roleplay : Medieval Age Fantasy World
PLOT: Marianna Rosedale Finch-feather is travelling from her small home village out into the world to seek a way to break her curse of bad luck. While traveling alone, looking for the answers to all her questions, one stumbles upon a strange family, one she thought only lived in her mothers tales. While she finds the answers she was looking for, more questions arise. Who are these people? Are they as dangerous as everyone around them says? Only time will tell, but only if time doesn't run out first.
Marian was 18 years old when she left Dalca, the tiny village where she grew up. She had never been further than a day's walk from the village, and only ever met outsiders coming from Myrtz, the town a few days down the Blue River, where it actually became a river and not just a small mountain stream. Her family had lived in Dalca for as long as any of them can remember, her great great grandmother being one of the most renowned Herbalists in the area. The soil and climate in Dalca were perfect for such things; growing all sorts of plants and herbs that couldn't survive anywhere else within hundreds of kilometers. The unique plants and the innate natural magic that resided in and around Dalca had made a home for the Finchfeather family for generations upon generations.
Marian left not by her own choice, but due to circumstance forcing her to. When she had turned 18, a curse seemed to fall upon her, and anything or anyone that came into contact with her. Plants withered, patches of frost plagued the gardens in the middle of spring, milk soured within a day; there was no end to the unexplainably bad luck that had befallen her. And so with heavy hearts, the village said goodbye to the most gifted Healer and Herbalist in generations, and Marian set out into the world, in search of a way to break her curse.
Adelaide was born and raised a few miles outside the city of Dalca, closer to Haldor than any other cities, but as a young girl, she only knew the farm she lived on with her two siblings and parents. She was never allowed to stray far from her little village, but why would she? Everything they needed was on their land. Her mother and father are very particular about revealing their past to their children, and little Adelaide never questioned it- until someone strange shows up at random. You Adelaide began to question everything she was taught as a young child, and fights to break her own curse along side the traveler.

โโญโฎโญโฎโญโฎโญโฎโญโฎโญโฎโญโฎโ โโโโโโโโโโโโโโPosts from Discord So we know where we areโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโฐโฏโฐโฏโฐโฏโฐโฏโฐโฏโฐโฏโฐโฏโDoom - The morning sunshine filtered lazily through the fluttering leaves of spring, a soft warm breeze whispering among them, the light laying dappled patterns all across the ground. The stream that would eventually become the Blue River gurgled quietly, splashing through moss covered rocks and slowing here and there in swirling eddies or deep pools overhung by rocky banks. The muted click of Suujah's shoed hooves did nothing to disturb the gentle sounds of nature as Marian rode on her back, peering around from beneath the wide-brimmed straw hat that shielded her face from the ever-warming sunshine.
Marian held the reigns loosely in her gloved hands, which sat on the saddle horn, and her soft leather boots rested in the stirrups, her knees gently hugging Suujah's flanks the only direction the steed required. Marian wore a loose white blouse with billowing arms the breathed easily, and a simple leather vest laced up the front. A wide belt held her divided riding skirts, with a smaller one hidden underneath holding a small bag of coins and securing the pair of breeches she wore underneath, which tucked neatly into the knee-high boots. Her long dark brown hair was wrapped into a bun under the straw hat to keep it off of her neck, where a leather cord held a small wood-carved pendant depicting a trefoil leaf.
Marian resisted the urge to look backwards, the village was already out of sight behind the bend, and she couldn't return anyways. Not yet. So she looked ahead and sometimes to the sides, listening to the gurgle of the stream and the occasional birdsong as the dappled light of the sun accompanied her down the trail.
Brindle - Adelaide breathed in the warmth of the gentle spring air that seemed to flow softly around her. Her family had long since been cast out of the little humble town of Dalca due to the rumors of her mother being a witch. Adelaide had pondered very frequently on tis thought, for if it were true, would she be some sort of mystic being? Possibly half witch? Long day after long day alone with her thoughts, Adelaide had come to the conclusion that maybe it be best if her family stayed away from other people. Adelaide squatted on a large, flat, moss covered rock in the middle of the little bubbling creek that swelled here and there at her feet. She had learned to appreciate nature and its quietness, falling in love with the song of birds and little scuffles of other creatures that ran around. The daily solitude allowed her quiet meditation to go on interrupted; interrupted until her father would whistle for her to come help with the farm animals.
Her short brown hair curled crazily around her face, falling gracefully on her shoulders. She bundled up her linen dress, careful not to get it wet. Adelaide lazily drew her finger back and forth through the water, enjoying the little ripples that formed, and seeing the little fish follower her finger as if they were playing a game with her.
All to quickly, her peace was slightly disturbed. -footprints- she thought to herself. But not that of any human, some creature much larger. She lifted her head and looked around her. The steps seemed to be in no hurry, and were far enough away that Adelaide could have gotten up and made it home before any soul saw her.Something held her to her seat. Curiosity maybe? Fear? She held her breath and waited for that something to emerge from the bushes.
Doom - Marian was roused from thought when Suu'jah gave a gentle snort, not a warning of danger but just a sign of discomfort. She looked around curiously, touching the pendant at her neck unconsciously and looking over at the bubbling creek. As they came around a bend, and out from a small grove of trees, more of the stream came into view, and Marian saw a girl probably about her age crouched on a rock in the middle of the bubbling water. She froze for an instant before nodding and slowing Suu'jah's pace, coming to a stop next to the bank of the creek. "Good afternoon," she greeted formally, raising a hand and giving a small smile.
Brindle - Adelaide seemed frozen to where she had been sitting on the smooth rock. Another girl. Possibly her age? Perhaps a few years older. A few moments had passed, and still no movement from Addy. Blinking slowly the young girl jumped to her feet and averted her eyes. "I didn't mean to upset you or trespass on your land." She said shakily, grabbing her dress and turning around quickly. Her seemingly porcelain features now hidden for fear of the new girl being someone from her old village. She searched frantically for her horse, only to find out that Adelaide had wandered farther down the river than she thought.
Doom - Marian tilted her head. The other girl had a strange glint in her eyes, a wild sort of glint that begged a question of sanity. It was gone in a moment though, and all was layered underneath fright and shame. "I didn't know anyone lived this far down the river; but it's certainly not my land." Marian eyed the gurgling eddies in the water, thinking for a moment how refreshing it must be. Suu'jah gave a snort and stomped her hooves, then moved to the side of the path and leaned her neck down to graze at the long grass beside the river.
Brindle - Addys mouth opened slightly, her mind deep in thought. "If you don't own this land, then why are you here?" Her voice now edged with slight irritation. She took a step forward and looked over her shoulder, her short brown hair curling just under her ears. Both of her hands still held the gathered edges of her gown, allowing her to run at any moment yet curiosity glued her to her spot.
Doom - Marian made a slight gesture down the path that was nothing near a road but still the best way out of the valley. "Travelling..." she paused, "To where, I don't really know. Away from here." She gave a small scoff and lowered her head, the wide brim of her hat hiding her face. "Don't mind me. I won't tell anyone about you if you don't tell about me. We never met and none of this ever happened." She clicked her tongue and nudged Suu'jah's flanks with her heels, the horse snorting and starting off at a trot.
Brindle - Addy, narrowed her eyes, a fugitive? Like her maybe? Away from here... where was here? She had questions. "Wait." She called, dropping her dress to its normal length. She made a low cooing sound from the back of her throat, calling for her horse. A buckskin mare stepped out into view a few paces in front of the two girls, keeping her eyes on Addy. Addy took a step forward. "Do you need food?" She questioned.
Doom - Marian pulled on the reigns, bringing her horse to a stop. She thought for a moment. She wasn't sure where the next town was or where else she could get food; she only had a few days' worth in her bags. "It would be appreciated... Perhaps we could assist each other together." "Lead the way... What's your name?" Marian asked. This girl could definitely help her. She needed to get away, further away, but didn't know where to go. If she ended up in danger, she didn't want to be alone. She didn't really want to be alone at all. The isolation of Dalca was different, she had always been close to everyone there, and that was a safety net. Now, she was suddenly very alone, and the world seemed bigger and emptier than ever, danger lurking around every turn. She was scared, and she wanted some way to release that tension.
Brindle - Addy gracefully gripped her horses mane and carefully swung her legs over the side of the horse, careful to watch where her dress landed. "My name is Adelaide." The young girl nodded to her fellow rider. Although she was uneasy with her new traveling companion, it seemed as though she didn't have a whole lot to worry about
Doom - "Adelaide, that's a nice name." Marian smiled. "Where to then? Is there any villages between here and Myrtz? That's where I'm headed eventually, but I don't think we can make it before nightfall." She looked up at the sun, already high in the sky. "We'll need a place to stop for the night."
Brindle - Young Adelaide smiled softly. Although she did not know this girl who she had become acquainted with, she felt as though she could trust her. "There are a few villages here and there, but my family does not abide in one." She said carefully, measuring her words as the floated off her tongue. "You're welcome to stay as long as you need." As she finished her sentence, she turned her horse around. She did not wish to disclose any information about why her family had lived outside of village, that was unheard of around here, unless you were a criminal and wanted by the law.
Doom- "That works fine for me," Marian replied, nudging Suujah to follow the other rider. This would be a good a start as any, and maybe Adelaide and her family could give her some direction. The more she thought about it though, the more she wanted to get further away. Maybe she could leave the bad luck behind that way.
Brindle - Adelaide nodded and turned her horse towards the farm. It was a few minutes away, even when your horse was at a full trot. She enjoyed her quiet time, it was nice to get away from the burdens of her family, so the river was perfect. As they neared the farm, she sent a silent prayer that her parents would be welcoming to the traveler and let her stay for a while. She wasnt sure how her mother would take it, seeing that they were outcasts and rarely trusted anyone who wandered onto the farm. As They rounded the corner, she could see her father out with the cows, checking their tags. "One of the cows must have had a baby." She said abscently to Marian. As they got closer, Addy let out a high pitched call to alert her father that the two had come home.
Doom - Marian immediately felt her heart jump. Something about this place seemed very right and very wrong at the same time. She wanted to see the baby calf. The goats that they kept in Dalca had once had a kid, and it was the most precious thing to take care of. "Can we see it?!" She exclaimed, her eyes lighting up. "How many animals do you have? How big is this farm? Do you have any siblings?" Marian stopped, blushing. "Sorry... Don't have to answer any of those... I just get carried away sometimes..."
Brindle - Adelaide smiled and relaxed a little. Seeing Marian so excited about life on the farm was reassuring, perhaps her father would be more welcoming if he knew he would have an eager helping hand around for a few days. "We have goats, and chickens, a few horses, lots of cows, a couple of pigs, not many though because those are hard to keep track of, and a few other stray animals that kind of run around here and there." she giggled and slowed her horse down, coming right beside the other girl. "I had a brother, but when we were ban- I mean moved away, he decided to stay in the village and continue on with life there, farm life just wasnt for him" She didn't like to think of her brother that often, especially with how he had reacted to his mother being a witch. He just thought it best to not affiliate with them. She couldnt blame him, but his lack of loyalty to his family made her chest burn with anger. "Im sure my father would let us see the baby, that is if he even knows where it is at the moment." She laughed and paused by the fence where her father had been a few minutes before. "Daddy!" She called, throwing a leg over to the other side of her horse and jumped down. "I have a friend here. Did one of our cows have a baby?" She gripped the reins tightly, hoping her father would respond nicely.
Doom - "Wow, so it's quite the busy place, huh? I'm sure you could use a helping pair of hands, maybe in exchange for a place to sleep?" She followed Addy to the fence, holding Suujah's reigns steady as her horse stepped, somewhat uneasy around all the new things. She cursed herself for not considering how Suujah was mostly used to a very quiet life, and resolved to train her a bit better for noise and activity.
Brindle - Addy noticed her father nod in their direction. She took that as a positive thing and nodded in understanding back to him. "We are always working." She laughed, noticing how her horse was unsure around the noise. "We have a barn for the horses, if you think your horse would be more comfortable there?" She questioned, running her hand down the side of her own horse.(I figured you could read through these and see where we left off [ I didn't post all of them because I figured you would want to go somewhat a different route than what we were going before] and we can begin from there if you would like! Or we can just ignore all this and start totally new, it's up to you.) Demitraeus Dehlfvaen

REPOSTING AND ADDING MORE TO SET US OFF AGAIN
Addy noticed her father nod in their direction. She took that as a positive thing and nodded in understanding back to him. "We are always working, farm life never allows for day's off." She laughed. Addy paused, noticing how her horse was unsure around the noise. "We have a barn for the horses, if you think your horse would be more comfortable there?" She questioned, running her hand down the side of her own horse to calm him. "I'm not sure if you were thinking of staying for a little longer, but we have food and things we can give." She mentioned, gripping the main of her horse to lead him in the direction of the barns. Even if the traveler wasn't going to stay for long, giving her horse some rest, food, and water, would be good. She wasn't sure just how long the two had been traveling, but rest never hurt anyone.

///gonna heckijg roll with it because yes///
Marian nodded. "I was hoping to go a bit further today, but it's perfectly fine. My journey is not what's importantto me right now. What's important is exploring this world, meeting new people, experiencing new things. Rest and a meal with your family sounds like an absolutely marvelous opportunity," she gave a warm smile.

Addy shrugged. "Okay!" The young girl was blind to the travelers unease as she was invited into the home of strangers. "We have a stable to put your horse in, that way he can- or she, can be refreshed with fresh hay and water." Addy let her long red hair flow in the breeze, sending her scent scattered amongst the ferns that decorated the floor of the river. As the young girl led her buckskin mare through the thick brush, the trees opened into a large rolling field, the little trees dancing around in decoration. "My house is just up on that hill." She told the girl, not wanting her to become uncomfortable.
