Yeah, probably Rick Riordan. Maybe that's just my bias because I absolutely love his books (except for Blood of Olympus, I guess) but I just really like his writing style, even though it may be childish at times he can also write about very mature and deep topics. Also, we'd definitely have canon LGBT characters and maybe less racism because he always includes so much representation, which would be a good thing.

Cornelia Funke. I haven't read all of her work, but Dragon Rider was my favorite book growing up and I enjoyed the Thief Lord too. I'm especially excited (and a little nervous as I hope it's good) to read her novelization of Pan's Labyrinth (alongside Del Toro). I think she writes character really well, and I think she'd enjoy delving into the mysticism of Warriors. Her pacing is really good too which I think Warriors sometimes struggles with and it's clear she knows where the narrative is always going in her own work. I'd love to see her tackle a super edition or novella where there's a full story there to be told and less meandering like there is in the main series where six books need to be filled.
