ABOUT So the premise of the plot is that Thornstrike is a Tigerclaw-esque cat who is extremely ambitious and will stop at nothing to get what he wants. In a dastardly plan, Thornstrike murders the deputy, Quillfang; the plan does not end there. Thornstrike knows that the next cat in line to be named deputy is Muse A, so Thornstrike plants tufts of fur the same colour as Muse A's between Quillfang's claws to insinuate he had put up a fight against a cat like Muse A. To put it short: Muse A is framed for the murder.
Shocked and betrayed, Owlstar, exiles Muse A. With no way of proving they didn't commit the crime, Muse A is forced out of the clan in utter disarray.
Cue Muse B, a rogue who has lived nothing but a harsh life. They witnessed the murder. In cold blood they watched Thornstrike murder Quillfang, although Muse B didn't stick around long enough to watch the ambitious tom plant the tufts of fur. However, they have no purpose in reporting or confronting Thornstrike, so they leave.
Alone for the first time in their life, Muse A is miserable. Soon they happen upon Muse B and are introduced to the rogue lifestyle, although they never stop yearning for the clan-life. A conversation is sparked, and before they know it, the pair realize how deeply their destinies are interlocked and they embark on a journey to reveal the truth of Quillfangs murder.

(Ohhh. I’m so torn with that one. I do know I want to Rp a molly. As I’m better at rping them. Hmm.. 🤔 I think the rogue would be super super fun to Rp. So Muse B!)

[ That sounds good to me! I like Muse A so it's perfect really xD I'll RP a tom!
But also, for the clan I figure we can fill it with both of our character since there will be times when we RP other cats in the plot (for interactions and context and stuff) so we'll RP our main characters but there are also side characters! It is good for if we want to do side plots with side characters at some stage Cx
I didn't mention it in the plot outline because I figured I'd get my partners opinion SO: I was thinking that Thornstrike (who clearly has taken notes from Tigerclaw) is starting an uprising with the rogues in order to overthrow the clan. Your character is rather solitary except for a few rogue friends so when the news does come to them and my character the uprising is gaining traction. So that's another plot point that they need to try and stop. Thoughts? ]

(Hey, Aether! I’ll be on in a bit. I do love the idea of creating more side characters, as I love the idea of mini plots and having more to it than just the main characters. I also like the idea of a rogue uprise. That would be great! I also like the idea of my rogue having a sibling. But maybe they aren’t close at all.? Or they are close and the sibling chooses to be apart of the uprising with Thorn and it devastated my rogue.? Just options/ideas!)

[ Okay, I'm about to go to work ( >:C ) but: your rogue could totally have a sibling! And if that sibling 'went to the dark side' that would be very dramatic, I like it xD ]

Ashwhisker - a dutiful tom who tends to get along well with others due to his ability to give-and-take. He is calm and relaxed (one has to be after being raised with his two sisters) and this makes him a good listener. His levelheadedness is what Owlstar liked the most, and why he would have been deputy. That said, he does rely on the presence of others to help him feel empowered. Without his clan, he feels lost and alone.
Owlstar - a diligent, no-nonsense leader who has a soft spot for young kits, although she wouldn't admit it. Thornstrike - an ambitious tom who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Snowfern - a haughty molly who has much flair and relies often on her mate, Littleheather, to calm her down. Burdockclaw - a kind and empathetic tom who has been smitten with his mate, Tumblewind, since they were apprentices.
Tallwhisker - a comedic tom who can be outspoken and crass. Swooptalon - a dutiful molly who is serious and somewhat judgemental.
Dustears - crabby tom who struggles to express his feelings - he is helplessly smitten with Tansypetal but clams up when in her presence, and is extremely jealous of Thornstrike. ( <---- i would love for at one point Ashwhisker tries to get allies from the clan and Dustears is like the first one to stand by his side. Not because he believes in the cause, but because he hates Thornstrike xD)
Frostbird - a joyous molly who exudes youthfulness. Softleap - esteemed molly who, in her youth, was desired by many. Sparrowthicket won her heart, and she remained adoring faithful since. Duskwing - formerly a sweet, jovial molly. The loss two of her kits left her sorrowful, the loss of her mate has left her a shell of who she once was. Birchpaw - he is desperate to prove himself worthy after the loss of his family (including his mother, who now can hardly look at him). Ivypaw - intelligent and sometimes oblivious to social cues, she's had her heart set on being a medicine cat since she could walk. Wavesplash - a tired elder who spends most of her time asleep, she has a history of being a fun, light-hearted cat. Robinhollow - when caught in a good mood, she is hilarious and can steal a room. When hungry, cold, or tired she would rather be left alone. Ocean - a jovial she-cat with a deep love for her sister, however, she becomes smitten with Thornstrike and is manipulated to be a pawn in his army. She was always less serious and more playful then Moon. Harvey - he will chatter a squirrel and seems dense, but truly, he has many world experiences. Meeka - a shy molly who is soft-spoken, but wants to do what is right. Burr - a respectable molly that is very knowledgeable, but rather solitary.
Added VERY short pieces to my cats to give some insight! C: I will work on a starter tonight, to get the ball rolling, but we can still plot ^-^

As an apprentice, Ashwhisker had been a heartbeat from death. It was a memory that flashed vividly in his mind at this very moment. He'd been so determined to follow a rabbit trail through the undergrowth near the river, only a moon into his apprenticeship, after a period of heavy rain. The river's embankment was rudely swallowed by the swollen floodwaters, and - then Ashpaw - he'd charged straight into it's murky depths and plunged into darkness. Confusion enveloped him when his paws pulsed but his body was trapped in the current - pulling him down with an icy grip. He recalled being buffeted by flood debris, with a solid branch colliding into his back, and he'd gasped out the last of his oxygen - only for water to take it's place in his burning lungs. Water filled his ears painfully, but that feeling was mute against the sensation of the water encapsulating him and catapulting him further and further downstream. His legs gave way to exhaustion and Ashpaw turned as limp as the debris that ricocheted around him. It was sometime later before he'd woken to splattering, watery coughs erupting from his dirt-scratched throat. Blearily, he was able to make out a black cat above him, though the sound of ringing in his ears overpowered any voices that may have been speaking. He collapsed once more. This time exhausted, but alive.
Emerald green met crystallic blue. Ashwhisker opened his maw to beg, only for a pitiful mewl to take hold of his throat. The way his paws turned to lead, too heavy to move or escape, revitalized the sensation of drowning. Softleap's eyes stared with such strong emotion that Ashwhisker felt as though he would be buffeted by the current of her betrayed gaze. It wasn't me! His mouth was choked. I wouldn't murder Quillfang! He twisted his head and caught sight of his apprentice, Birchpaw, staring back with fury and distrust. "Birchpaw - you know - you have - please!" Ashwhisker's mind ran too quick to form a coherent sentence. Birchpaw's gaze darkened and he bared his fangs with unadulterated hostility. "You killed my father! You've taken everything from me!" Ashwhisker flinched, the words felt like a set of claws over his muzzle. As though the apprentices words were the cue, the clan erupted into hateful caterwauling. Ashwhisker's fearful green eyes turned over each cat in what felt like a surreal dream. Once they'd stared at him with love and trust, now they viewed him with disgust and horror; all for something he hadn't even done. Snowfern was bristling furiously beside Littleheather, her fangs bared and her claws tearing at the earth, begging for the chance to rake down her brothers spine. Swooptalon was silent, but the alienating stare she'd set upon Ashwhisker's pelt made him wish she would say anything, so long as she acknowledged him. My family... my friends... my clan... The sounds of disgrace were soon overwhelmed by the sound of churning blood in his ears and Ashwhisker felt, for a moment, that he was watching everything happen from afar.
"Ashwhisker," Owlstar's voice rose above the caterwauls and returned the tom to his body. The howling eased to allow the leader to address the cat they now viewed as their enemy. A growl in her throat, Owlstar stepped forward and towered over Ashwhisker threateningly, "You are exiled. If we find you anywhere in the territory by moonrise, then we will treat you the same way we do any other foul rogue." Her words dripped with venom. Her high-set chin and her vehement amber eyes made it clear that arguing against what she said would be futile. The tom swallowed thick emotion in his throat and stepped back, edging towards the camp entrance. "Owlstar, please-" He began hoarsely, only to be silenced by Owlstar's claws slashing over his cheek, causing his neck to whip the side. Vaguely, he heard yowls from his clanmates, and his eyes closed against the sting of the blow. No one wants me here... his shoulders sagged dejectedly as he admitted defeat. Turning tail, Ashwhisker began numbly towards the bramble barrier. A flash of dark ginger in his peripherals caught his attention and he lifted his head to watch Thornstrike settle by the camps entrance, the toms icy blue eyes were staring back at him with... a kind of disturbed satisfaction. Ashwhisker hesitated before he passed the large tom, pausing beside him, Ashwhisker uttered pitifully, "Thornstrike... you know I wouldn't..."
A smile curled menacingly on the ginger cats maw, growing bigger and bigger until it turned into a twisted snarl, "I won't listen to a murderer." The words seethed through a growl.
Ashwhisker couldn't wait a moment longer. He burst into a run, tugging through the claw-sharp brambles, not flinching even when they tore tufts of his white and grey pelt from his skin. He didn't stop when his paws fell into the ditch of a trees roots, nor did he pause when he hurtled through a thicket of ferns. When he'd been drowning, his mind had grown exhausted trying to comprehend the way his body moved in the water; now the same happened upon the land. His mind was empty of conscious thoughts and his heart was too desolate to begin deconstructing what exactly had happened to bring him to this point. Was it possible to drown, when one wasn't in water? His muscles began to scream for rest, but Ashwhisker kept running. He surpassed the border, and kept up sprint. The acrid tang of a thunderpath was faint in his senses, however, it was no force that could stop his devastated stampede. His claws scraped over the hard, black surface and kicked up loose stones - the howl of a twoleg monster blared but Ashwhisker wouldn't mind if he was struck. Just as his paws were about to reach the other side the monster caught his tip of his tail, and Ashwhisker was sent hurtling over the grass, tumbling down until he landed with a thump in a clump of long grass.
***
"Moon! Did you see that?!" Ocean's minty green gaze widened like those of an owl, her voice piqued with concern and intrigue alike. "That cat was just hit by a monster!"
The rabbit that Ocean had been preparing to spring on bounded off with it's cottontail bobbing in the air, although Ocean was far from annoyed as her meal disappeared. From where she'd been stalking she'd caught in the corner of her peripheral a white and grey shape exploding from the thunderpath with a monster in it's wake. The mottled grey molly had always been somewhat careless, so even at the threat of a strange cat, she took off towards the scrap of fur. The cat had fallen into stretch of grass, and as Ocean approached she wondered if he was still alive... Reaching his side, she could see the breathless rise and fall of his sides as he sucked in rough mouthfuls of air. Ocean recoiled upon the sight and curled her nose with disgust. She turned her head back to her sister.
[ okie so i just yeeted this starter out. i purposely didn't want to start in the clan when the murder happened, or when they accused ashwhisker, because it's more of an experience that ashwhisker will share. if that... makes sense o.o ALSO there is still some stuff we can plot, i just figured we can start setting the scene & introduce the mains lol ]

[Moon] With Ocean & Ashwhisker || aether Near Thunderpath. •❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅••❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•
To say she wasn't distracted, would be a complete and utter lie. Moon had been crouching, maybe a few fox-lengths away from her sister, eyes locked on a sparrow. Yet, as she stared at the little brown and white feathery creature, her mind drifted. She simply crouched, staring as the sparrow pecked at the ground, while her mind was a million light-years away. How could she possibly think about anything else.? How could she possibly do anything else.? When her mind was so consumed by what she had witnessed the night before. She hadn't told another soul about the act of malice. Simply racing from the scene after the deed had been done. Doing everything in her power to get away from such a powerful act. The hint of blood-lust and power she had seen unfold before her, the way it clung to the eyes of the living feline, as the blood stained their paws. Something about those icy-blue eyes, as they stared down at the limp gray and black striped body before them, It gave her chills.
The rise of her sisters voice seemed to catapult her from her thoughts and back to reality. She practically jumped from her own skin at the sound of the sparrow giving an alarm call and flying up into a tree. Whipping around, she opened her maw to confront Ocean, when her next words settled in her ears. 'That cat was just hit by a monster.' Clamping her maw back shut, she turned to watch the mottled gray and white shape of her sister, darting towards the shape that lay still in the grassy edges of the thunderpath. "Wait! Ocean!" Her call to alert her sister was simply avoided as the molly reached the shape in the grass. Grumbling to herself, she simply slipped up to the two felines as minty green eyes turned on her. "Sometimes you are such a mouse-brain. Running into danger before you even think of the consequences." While she mumbled to herself, she made herself loud enough that Ocean could hear her. Though, her sparkling deep green eyes held a look of silence, as if to warn her sister not to argue with her.
For many moons, more than Moon cared to keep track of, it had been just Ocean and herself. When they were only 10 Moons old, they had lost their father to a bought of sickness. She remembered her mothers grief still to this day. Something that haunted her from time to time. It had been a long and hard leaf-bare, one with little food and a cold that kept you icy to the bone. When Falcon had fallen ill, it'd taken their best hunter and fighter from them. While her mother, Mystic had tried to hunt down some herbs, everything seemed to be wiped out from the grasps of the snowy chill. He passed with his mate and two children by his side, only a handful of sunrises after falling ill. Fast-forward only a good 5 moons later, and poor Mystic had been struck on this very same thunderpath. She hadn't been paying attention when she was crossing back from the clans territory. What she was doing over there, no one knew to this day. Moon liked to say she didn't suffer, but did they truly know how long she had been laying in the grasses at the edge of the deathtrap of a trail, before her two kits had found her.? It'd taken a toll on the two sisters at first, but they had quickly moved on the best they could. Or the best that any feline could do after losing both of their parents in such a short amount of time.
Now, the image of her mothers beautiful gray and white speckled fur seemed to take over the image of the gray feline that currently lay in the grass beside Ocean. A clouded look passed over Moon's gaze as she hesitantly stepped up to the pair. Blinking the image away, she forced herself not to cling to the past, what good would it do now.? As green eyes landed on the scrap of fur at her paws, a breath of relief filled her body from her paws to her ear-tips. The tom was breathing. No blood seemed to come from his body, no valid wounds that would mean she had to worry. Gently, she took a delicate paw and smoothed the ruffled white and gray fur before her. Her head tilted slightly as she watched the breathing, hoping it would settle down after the shock wore off. The scent of the clan cats seemed to protrude past the acid-like stench of the thunderpath. "He carries the scent of those clan cats. I wonder why he was crossing the thunderpath."
It wasn't often that the clan cats passed over the thunderpath. The land beyond it was known as the territory where many rogues and loners scattered. It was outside the clan markers, but still flourishing with prey for the lone felines of the land. While most avoided any of the warriors from the clan, some would pick fights with them. She herself, preferred to keep her distance, not wanting anything to do with their customs. She rarely crossed over their borders, and when she did, it was usually going after something she had been hunting. Or, like the night before, she had been searching for herbs when she had witnessed the brutal murder of that grey tom... Shaking her head, to push any thoughts away that didn't pertain to the situation unfolding before them. Keeping her voice gentle, she nosed the tom before her, trying to stir him beside her. "Hey you. You're alright. It looks like that monster just barely caught you. Come on now. It'll be alright." She paused for a moment, trying to let him come to and compose himself enough to speak to them. "What's your name.? What were you doing flying across that thunderpath without paying attention.?"
(Sorry this is a lame post. I tried my best. I wanted to give you something to respond to! I have a busy weekend. So I probably won't be on until Monday. However! I am so up for other plotlines within the clan and interactions. If you want to rp anyone certain or get any starters up for any other characters! The next day I am on, I can respond.)

ASHWHISKER Near Thunderpath
Ocean didn't flinch at Moon's disapproval, in fact, she acted as though she hadn't heard it all. The mottled molly played the part of careless ignorance well, even when it annoyed her sister. This shouldn't be confused with spite or pettiness - Ocean loved her sister dearly, she was all she ever had - but while Moon grew to be serious and reserved, Ocean was able to divulge into behaving in an insouciant manner because, well... Moon would always fix things if they ever went awry. Ocean very rarely had to take accountability for her actions which had the tendency to show through haughty outbursts and jaunty displays during times where she should be earnest. However, with her childish behaviors there was a never a dull moment when Ocean was involved; she was always there to brighten one's day. Her ears pricked at Moon's comment regarding his scent and Ocean nodded her head, "Yeah, maybe he will be mean like them." She sniffed, recalling a time when she'd been chased from the territory after the mouse she'd been stalking had scurried over the scent-line they called a 'border'. Although her words were snarky, she tilted her head and bent to sniff at his ears - causing the tom to groan and flick them irritably. "I think he's okay," she mumbled.
Whoever was speaking over him was distracting him from his self-loathing and sorrow, which was... inconvenient. Ashwhisker squeezed his eyes shut, struggling to catch a satisfying breath in his burning lungs. Slowly, the searing pain eased and the ragged convulsing of his gasps faded, leaving him limp and exhausted. Someone was close to his ear and he turned to tuck his head deeper into his chest, while something gentle patted at his side. Leave me alone! He wanted to yowl - he had just suffered through an irreversibly horrendous experience, he didn't want to deal with some nosy rogues. Was losing Quillfang not enough? Did he have to endure the consequences of actions that were not his own? The image of Birchpaw's hateful yellow eyes were branded into the back of his eyelids and Ashwhisker could have keened from the ache he felt in his heart that his own apprentice - former apprentice - was convinced that he'd murdered his father. And no one believed me... His littermates, his parents, his mentor, his denmates, his leader. Ashwhisker shivered like a snow-touched kit. With any hope the two cats over him would leave him to sink into the earth and be forgotten. A gentle nuzzle on his shoulder stirred him, the scent of the forest was carried on her fur as well as another unique aroma that seemed to be her own; sweet and soothing. His eyes peeled open reluctantly and for a heartbeat he allowed himself to be subdued by her gentle tone. Slowly, he lifted his chin, turning his head to exhibit the claw marks on his muzzle that stained his cheek a deep pink colour. Beside him, the mottled cat gasped, reminding him of the brutal blow his leader struck him with. Self-consciously, he tilted his head awkwardly to hide that side of his muzzle and he pushed himself to his paws hastily despite the deep-muscled ache he felt after his sprint. The tip of his tail felt tender when he moved it and he winced, tucking it tight to his side - it had been buffeted by the monster although thankfully it hadn't been crushed.
"I'm Ashwhisker," he meowed gruffly. Ocean eyed him intently and let out a short giggle at the bizarre-sounding name. Ashwhisker felt the fur on his neck begin to bristle and he prepared to retort, only to be cut short when he caught Moon's gaze. He held his tongue and resigned to instead lowering his head to stare at his mismatched paws, "I've come here to find a new home." He murmured vaguely. "I'm sorry to bother you, I'll be okay..." Stiffly he pushed himself to his paws, wincing again at the persistent throbbing in his muscles. As he turned to walk away, he couldn't have appeared anymore sullen whether he intended it or not.
"You can't go that way!" Ocean exclaimed. With a dramatic huff, she turned her head to Moon and shook her head. "Those clan cats act so tough, but yet here's one about to stroll straight into the thunderpath maze!" Of course, it was well-known to any rogue or loner that the thunderpath maze is a treacherous place uninhabitable by any cat. The thunderpath they currently stood beside was an extension of this maze, however, to continue in the direction Ashwhisker had begun would lead him to the crossing-over web of thunderpaths. The acrid scent made it impossible to find ones way around the area and the continuous rumble from the thunderpaths were said to make a cat mad if they stayed there too long.
Although he'd hate to admit it, Ashwhisker paused his trekking in fear that this stranger was speaking a truth. A thunderpath maze? He'd never heard of such a thing - there weren't any thunderpaths in the territory, only this one that they never even had to cross. He glanced back to the two she-cats and opened his mouth in a sheepish attempt to explain that he was going in this direction for a particular reason. His voice faltered in his throat and ended with a faint croak, causing him to only feel increasingly embarrassed. "Where can I go?" He finally spoke, looking as heartbroken and lost as he felt.
[ what should we call the clan? xD I forgot that was a thing.
also in terms of the clan we could mess around with this thornstrike-tansypetal-dustears love triangle? o.o ]

(Ohhh. That would be super fun to Rp. I would love that. Also. I love the idea of their being a few encounters with Rockpaw and Thorn. As she HATES him. Maybe on a patrol. Or when Thorn tries to tell her what to do. Or maybe he does an assessment with the apprentices to see where they are at with their mentors. And maybe Thorn can overhear a heated discussion between Tumble and Tansy about Tansy padding after him and Tumble despises him. And you can go however you like with that. If he confronts them. Or if he pretty much punished Tumble in some way. Or he gets closer to Tansy, just to spite Tumble and Dustears.
I know there’s more we can do plot wise. Between everyone. Just have to figure it out. 😂

[Moon] With Ocean & Ashwhisker || aether Near Thunderpath. •❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅••❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•
While her sister's comment amused her, Moon kept her maw shut about the clan cats. She hoped with all her heart that the tom before them wasn't as mean as some of the others that lived on the other side of the thunderpath. Would he be as blood-thirsty as the tom she had spotted the other night.? While her catching the clan cat murdering, what she assumed was their clanmate, had been a complete and utter accident, she couldn't help but fear that each and every one of them were that ruthless. Yet, as Ocean leaned forward to sniff at his ears, he hardly stirred. A simple flick of his ears and a groan escaped his body as he lay on the ground before them.
For a moment, Moon was sure the clan tom would ignore the pair of sisters, especially when he eyes just closed tighter at their voices. While she patted his fur down, his breathing seemed to slow and become more normal. Her words seemed to float in the air around them, and she was sure there would be no answer. Yet even as she thought that, the tom stirred, unraveling himself at last. His face lifted up and turned towards her and her sister. Her eyes first caught sight of the nasty marks he had across his muzzle. Without flinching, she settled sympathetic green eyes on him. Her tail flicked harshly against Ocean as a gasp sounded from her. A silent gesture for her to be kind and keep her opinions quiet.
'Ashwhisker..' She repeated the name in her head, over and over again, until it seemed imprinted in her soul. Beside her, Ocean once more let out a noise, this time a giggle at the name shared with them. She noticed Ashwhisker's neck fur begin to rise and was sure he would lash out at her sister. Fixing him with a kind, yet warning glance, Moon was prepared to defend Ocean against him. Seeming to think better of it, the white and gray patched clan tom turned and started away. Opening her maw to protest, Ocean beat her to it, warning Ashwhisker of the thunderpath-maze that would greet him. Sharing a glance with the mottled gray molly beside her, before turning to meet green eyes with her own.
Fur prickling slightly as their eyes met, she suddenly felt herself become curious. Something about the way his eyes held a haunting look, made her want to know his story. What had happened to him.? He was clearly one of the clan cats, so why was he looking for a new home.? Would others be coming to find a new home as well.? Had he seen the murder of one of his clanmates as well.? Should she bring it up.? Clearing her throat, she took a step forward to speak, flickering her ears slightly. Sweeping her tail around them, she pointed to the area around them. "Welcome to the land of the rouges and loners, as you clan cats refer to us as. The territory that you guy's didn't claim, and we did. Anywhere throughout these trees, you can call home."
Dipping her head slightly, the pretty gray and brown molly turned and headed into the trees."Come, Ashwhisker. We'll show you around. There is plenty to see. From trees, to bushes, to herbs and even a stream. And further into the land, the trees open up into an open moorland." While the trees here were more spaced out, the land was scattered with bushes and long patches of grass. Herbs grew well around here and seemed undisturbed by most. The land stretched on for some time, and a small stream seemed to cut through the land, further than the eye could see. Moon padded along, glancing back every now and again to make sure Ocean and Ashwhisker followed, until she reached the small pool of water that the stream seemed to travel into. Leaning down, she took a few laps of refreshing water, before turning back. "Most of us don't pay any mind to each other around here. While some of us are friendly, there are always those few that like to cause troubles."
Her mind wondered for a slight moment to Harvey, the chocolate tom, who once lived with the twolegs on the edge of the moorland. While she was more stoic and reserved, he chattered more than a squirrel. Yet, Moon found some kind of fondness for the ex-kittypet and the unusual pair had become quite the friends. A small smile formed on her maw as she wondered where the tom was adventuring about now. She hadn't seen him in days, and often grew worrisome of her friend. Wrapping her tail over her paws, the pretty loner turned her full attention back to Ashwhisker. Curiousity brimmed in her green eyes and she questioned him. "Why are you leaving your clan.? Did something happen.?"

ASHWHISKER Near Thunderpath
For some reason Ashwhisker couldn't pinpoint, he felt a flush of shame at the phrasing of Moon's words. 'the territory that you guy's didn't claim, we did'. There was no animosity to her tone or her movements, however there was a lingering feeling in Ashwhisker's mind that perhaps clan cats were thought of negatively outside of his - his former - territory. Ocean was gazing at him with unadulterated curiosity and even a hint of contempt, making him feel like he would be better if he simply slid back down to the earth in the hopes it would engulf him. He turned his head to meet Ocean's emerald green gaze and he furrowed his brows in consideration. Her intent look almost crackled with tension and he knew one thing: she didn't want him hanging around too long. I guess I'd best be going, he thought, and when his maw split open to emit words, Moon spoke first. Ashwhisker's attention was drawn back to the pretty molly and he only hesitated a moment before following behind her. He let out a small murmur, 'that's interesting' to her explanation but didn't offer any further conversation.
An Ashwhisker who was outside of the territory on a mission would have trod through the foreign land with unsullied fascination, yet due to his current exiled, sorry state, the land passed by unappreciated. His head hung low on his shoulders and his eyes were narrowed with what appeared to be a thoughtful expression, but in truth, his mind was completely empty. What could he do? Truly, he just wanted to melt away into the earth but with Moon at his front and Ocean to his side, there wasn't much chance of that. His claws curled into the earth as they padded along and he felt a sickening wave of resentment boil up into his throat as he vividly recalled the feeling of being exiled. Initially, he'd been heartbroken, but slowly the depressive sensation was making way to something far greater: anger. Furious at the fact his clanmate had been brutally murdered, and vexed that he was reprimanded for it without a fair trial. A small sound beside him lurched him from his emotions and he glanced to his right, catching Ocean's perplexed gaze. It was then he realised that his pelt has slowly been prickling and fluffing in his exasperation. Sheepishly, Ashwhisker swiped his tongue over his shoulder and looked as far away as possible from Ocean. The quiet giggling she emitted made his ears sear with embarrassment.
The rest of the way went by swiftly when Ashwhisker spent the entire time internalizing not only his embarrassment but the aforementioned anger also. When Moon stopped to lab at the fresh water from the stream he glanced at it with surprise before he bent to lap at it. As the soothingly cool liquid splashed down his throat he realised how parched he felt and he leaned lower to lap up every droplet he could. After the crashing through the forest and the near-miss with the monster, his own bodily needs had become lost to him. He rose his head when Moon spoke and suddenly his clouded, crowded mind blanked when he stared at her. "Er, that's good - uh, about most being neutral," he meowed with a hint of bashfulness. In his current state he couldn't help but admire her stoic, no-nonsense stance. In his peripherals he noticed Ocean grooming her coat a short distance away. It was far enough away that when Moon meowed to him again, she mightn't have heard it - or she chose to not seem interested.
Ashwhisker pushed himself up and swiped the lingering droplets from his whiskers as he considered whether or not he should reply to his innocent question. His minty green eyes darkened slightly as his mind whirled back but he closed them in an attempt to stop the images from appearing in his mind. His shoulders and chest grew tense, only to suddenly become lax as he dropped his chin and opened his eyes to stare across the stream. "Something did happen, really." His defeated tone alluded to just how serious his situation might have been, but the reluctance to his stiff movements displayed the fact he wasn't prepared to share this information. "You wouldn't understand..." he murmured with a shake of his head, "but I'm not allowed to go back there, even if I want to." He stepped back and shook his pelt in an attempt to shake off the lingering anxiety although he winced when his tail-tip bumped the earth, a sharp hiss forced it's way through his clenched teeth.
Ocean mrrowed nearby. She can hear us, Ashwhisker glanced back at her with a slight frown. Her attitude of disinterest and contempt irked him even though he didn't want to admit it. He didn't want to feel as though he had to prove anything to her, so he looked back to Moon. She was looking at him with a more honest curiosity, and naught more. Instead of feeling small under her gaze he felt... normal.
"Oh, I never asked your name?" He found himself speaking more softly, self conscious of Ocean's listening ears. "I would still be by the thunderpath if it weren't for your help," he flicked his ears, "thank you." He fidgeted his paws with earnest that he wasn't able to contain.
