This is a genuine question. Why?
I mean, why's she a Mary Sue? Yes, her 'flower' eyes are irritating, and she's mentioned to have PURPLE eyes in Moth Flight's Vision. I mean, PURPLE. Seriously, this is a serious inconsistency - how can you think a cat's eyes are PURPLE? I mean, maybe cats do have purple eyes, I dunno, but - but - her PURPLE FLOWER EYES bug me so much, and her name - ahghghg
But I didn't think ThunderFlower was ever a thing. Thunder was having a little world inside his head; I didn't think they were in a proper relationship - flirting, I guess, but -
I didn't think much of Star Flower comforting Clear Sky, either. I just thought the lines were kinda cool, Clear Sky thinking he's a monster.
But I admit I was annoyed at her for no practical reason and wondered why on earth would the Clan cats risk their lives saving some cat who's betrayed them? I mean, sorry, Clear Sky, but why should we save her? Yes, I get the kits but - honestly - why - why on earth - STAR FLOWER - really why - her redemption wasn't even there - ah
I guess I just listed the reasons I hate her, but I don't understand the fierce hate - "OH, Star Flower is SUCH a Mary Sue! A manipulative beauty who married her EX'S DAD! SHE DESERVES TO ROT IN THE DARK FOREST!" Why?

I don't fiercely hate her, but she's annoying in almost every damn scene she's in after the first half or so of The Blazing Star. There wasn't really a reason to include her in the series imo, and she got Clear Sky back to being an ass after his character development was almost making progress. She also acts hella bossy and acts like she can talk any way to the cats from the mountains.
In short, she's annoying, annoying, and she sprinkles all of her annoying qualities with a little bit more of annoying bs.

I don't hate Star Flower. In fact, she's one of my favorite characters. I view her as someone only out for her best interests, and has no qualms on playing with hearts. Pretty interesting to me.

I don't hate her and never have. I think she's an interesting character, if not a rather underdeveloped one (which unfortunately goes for most of the she-cats in this arc anyway) and I've honestly always felt like the hate she gets is too much at times, though this isn't helped by the fact that her redemption and becoming Clear Sky's mate all happens in such a short amount of time, never mind how weird the entire situation was in general since this is the first time in the series a father and son have liked the same she-cat.

Star Flower feels like the kind of characters that doesn't belong in Warrior cats at all. She's entertaining when she roasts Clear Sky, at least.

While Star Flower and Thunder were never in a proper relationship, she still manipulated him into thinking that they had something like that, although I'm not sure if it was mere flirting or already sort of dating. The fact that she then went on to become mates with his father is just making me feel a certain way.

she's a manipulator. she babied clear sky and said he didnt do anything wrong when he CLEARLY did a LOT of things wrong! she got involved with things that dont concern her. her redemption comes off as fake, rushed, and ingenuine (same for clear sky's). she and clear sky are both awful and they're even more awful together. they enable each other's bad behaviors and reassure the other they're not in the wrong...which is annoying and stupid.
i hate star flower for being ingenuine and enabling clear sky's toxic mentality. it has nothing to do with her over the top description or beauty.

her superiority shit is annoying. “you ~killed~ my father!” oh you meanthe father that was going to murder a kit? the father that started a violent cult where he forcibly branded his members? the father that murdered without a care? that father?
also, her constantly telling clear sky he did nothing wrong when he was a complete monster for most of dotc and generally having the vibe of a very manipulative individual without ever being punished for her more villainous actions.

I don't like Star Flower because, as others have said, she's manipulative and toxic. Her being a so-called "girlboss" has nothing to do with that.

I'm neutral on her.
Yes she's manipulative and self-centered, but she knows what she wants and knows how to use her charm to get what she's after. I admire her for that much. She would have been much better off as a villain. Skystar really didn't need another mate.
She's a vixen, plain and simple.

Infact if she WAS a girlboss (Aka, like some sort of final boss villain, probably backstabs Clear Sky in the end after he's gotten so attached to her, with Slash being some crony for her or something to do her dirty work as she manipulates with honeyed words) I'd still hate her but I'd at LEAST like her as a villain. I love a well done girlboss, it's just they had her be manipulative and enabling and then all of a sudden they try to insist to us that because she's with Clear Sky she's "good" now, it just feels so ingenuine. Come ON, make her a bad bitch!

I don’t hate her. But she irritates me. I also don’t necessarily think she’s a Mary Sue - though she becomes a lot more Mary Sue-like after she gets together with Clear Sky and all of a sudden she’s this sweet innocent queen who just wants what’s best for everyone. As much as I disliked her as the manipulative cat she was, that’s what made her an appealing villain. I don’t like her redemption because she doesn’t really do anything that great to make the cats around her believe she’s changed. She just has kits, and gets kidnapped, but that’s about it. They completely changed everything that made her a compelling character when they made her Clear Sky’s mate. And that’s what I dislike about her.
I love a good redemption, when it’s well done. Hers is not. At least Clear Sky’s redemption shows him making an effort, but didn’t change who he was as a character.

Pretty much what cable and ᏞᎪᎠᎽ Ꮎf fᎪᏁᎠᎾms ミ☆ said, also not to mention...there's a scene where she's standing by while her father and his goons torture Clear Sky, and it's utterly gross to think about considering she gets with the guy later, like??? She still thinks to this day that her father did nothing wrong despite wanting to literally murder the cats she "oh so desperately wanted to save from Slash" later on. I'm sorry but...even if she and Thunder weren't in a proper relationship there's something utterly disgusting about a manipulator character getting with her victim's father???? She's the typical addition to the "Ugly Guy's Hot Daughter" trope.

I don't like her that much in canon. Mostly because of the whole Thunder and Clear Sky situation. That was weird. Very weird. Though, I think she would of made an amazing villain.

i never read any books that included her, but i figure most people hate her for her manipulation and antagonistic edge. i always thought she sounded really entertaining, though, like a villain you love to hate. id have loved her as a villain lol. the main issue is that shes redeemed through no real action of her own, like she flirts with clear sky and gets kidnapped and shes a good guy now despite still being kind of manipulative.

I dislike her the same reason I dislike Clear Sky: - Does an evil thing. - Suffers no consequences (literally. All that happened to Star Flower is cats hesitated to help her, but then they did help her and forgot about all the bad things she did). - Act superior once they clans have 'settled' (Wind Runner can act superior too but at least she has other redeemable qualities). - No redemption. Star Flower WAS Clear Skys 'redemption' but it was just... gross. It felt manipulative the way Star Flower tried to convince him he did nothing wrong, etc.
I wouldn't mind them if they suffered consequences and actually grew as characters but nothing changed and everyone else suffered from their actions.

It's a shame, cause as a villain it would have been entertaining. I always find the "Daddy's Little Villain" trope to be way more interesting if done well. Like if she turned out to be playing the others at the end and actually was in charge of Slash, it would have been amazing. She would have already had a motive and vital information about how the clans functioned. Instead they reduced her to damsel in distress that did nothing wrong, and got a redemption she didn't deserve.
