“Little bit, yeah,” Kelsier admitted, lowering his voice. He was excited to have Myrnin present for this, that was all. No need to go being too loud. “Atium? No, I guess you wouldn’t have heard about it. Or at least not in the context of my world.” He had to take a moment to decide how best to explain. “Lets me see the future,” he said finally, raising an eyebrow at Myrnin. “Couple seconds, anyway. I can see what someone is about to do…very useful in a fight.” He narrowed his eyes at the spot Myrnin had indicated. It wasn’t ideal, but… “We can work with that,” he decided, and shot Myrnin a cocky grin. “Not roofs, no. But what better way to break in than through a window?” He regarded Myrnin for a moment. Ordinarily, he’d give a basic rundown of what to expect. But he was pretty sure Myrnin would appreciate both the opportunity to think on his feet and the sheer chaos of not having a clue what was going on. So he merely out a finger to his lips. Then he dropped a coin and Pushed himself into the air, caught the side of the building, and disappeared through an open window without a sound.

Looking up at where Kelsier had just disappeared into the window of the building above, Myrnin found himself both confused and grinning. Not that he knew much about what Kelsier had just done, never mind the actual instance of what they were about to do. Or even what they were about to get. Myrnin just tried to take it all in stride and pushed himself off the ground. His entrance into the window was not as steady as Kelsier's had looked. Instead, it seemed to be more like he was watching the ground come up to meet him. He had to stumble a bit to regain his footing, which didn't look very vampire-like. Then he was hurrying after Kelsier. "Where are we going now we're in the house then?" he whispered. He had to wonder how well-guarded a precious metal was. It seemed likely that there would be quite a few more issues with getting it than just jumping through an open window. And if there wasn't, then well ... Myrnin would be slightly disappointed then. That was just sad.

Luckily for Myrnin, he didn’t have very long to wait to find out. The open window was a good way to enter silently. But it wasn’t as though there were no guards. This was atium after all, the most valuable thing in this world, and one thing absolutely no one wanted the Survivor of Hathsin to have. If Myrnin has been human, Kelsier would have been a lot more worried about bringing him along. Being a vampire, he was les concerned and more curious to see how the noblemen reacted. Before they died, anyway. He didn’t have time to answer before they were found. Several guards turned the corner, drawing their swords foolishly and approaching, clearly intending to corner them before they caught sight of first Myrnin’s interesting fashion, and then the mistcloak Kelsier wore. “Mistborn!” One called, at the exact same moment Kelsier released a handful of coins and Pushed them forwards at the guards in a deadly spray. He followed them with his body, and attacked.

Considering everything was coming at Myrnin without for warning, he was late to respond and even later to thinking about whether he should or not. But then again ... He followed after Kelsier. More of a dark shadow than truly showing any vampiric traits. Unless the movements counted. Smooth, completely natural yet so fluid that they seemed unreal. And he was right behind Kelsier right up until the point he purposefully targeted one of the assailants. He tossed himself at one of them. The movement was cat-like. Pouncing on a mouse - and like a cat with a mouse, it ended with Myrnin ripping into the throat of the guard. Fangs were briefly involved, but only briefly. Rather, Myrnin was trying to create as little stir with as much help as he could. And yet ... And yet he wasn't exactly sure about Kelsier's motives. Even as Myrnin licked blood from around his lips. All of a sudden, now that they were here ... he'd started having doubts.

All things considered, Kelsier could have probably planned this for a little bit longer, but it didn’t matter. He had done more impulsive things before and gotten the results he wanted, after all, and he had Myrnin with him, who had seemed eager enough to help him. Of course, perhaps starting s rumor that he was working with some stranger who wore bright clothes and tore throats out was something to be concerned about, but no one needed to connect his crime to the Survivor of Hathsin. He wasn’t the only one who ever stole atium, after all. He’d have to give Myrnin’s presence some thought later. He wouldn’t drag the vampire into his war, naturally, but it was difficult to exist in a world like this without taking a side. Kelsier knew which side Myrnin would take. The important thing was that this wasn’t his responsibility, and they’d need to help him get home again. He spun, kicking one guard and stabbing a second in the heart, a swift, practiced attack that left him time to take out another one before the first got to his feet again. Kelsier dropped a coin and Pushed himself into the air as he was charged, then landed on the man, killing him instantly. He glanced at Myrnin, smiling. “Come, friend, there’ll be more of them on the way, and as much as I do trust your skills, I’d rather you not meet any Hazekillers today.” And with that, he was off, striding deeper into the building, bare feet silent against the smooth floor.

There was no way that Myrnin had any idea what a Hazekiller was. What he did know was that he was going to follow Kelsier and hopefully that would prove to be a good idea. He didn't want to die and he didn't want to find himself losing his guide in this world. He kept at Kelsier's heels, still wiping the blood from his lips. He was grinning a bit. He wasn't aware, right now, that it was temporary. That he'd probably be crying later. That he wasn't thinking about the consequences. Instead, he just kept moving. "Where to next?" he whispered, eyes bright.

Kelsier wasn’t thinking about consequences, either. For him, at least, there would be none. He didn’t realize it would be different for Myrnin. Hadn’t he told him that he felt nothing for the noblemen he killed? Had he never thought to explain that his path was one stained a deep crimson, and he was the one who had made it that way? It was probably a lot harder to see it in person than it was to merely hear about it in theory. But Kelsier didn’t regret this. He didn’t think Myrnin would, either. He grinned at Myrnin, tossing a dagger in the air and letting it flip over once before he caught it again. “Next?” He whispered back, clearly enjoying his audience. “We go and find the atium stash. There may be a few more guards, but not too many. No one should have been expecting me tonight.” He turned and headed deeper in, moving at a quick, purposeful walk, unhurried but unstoppable.

It was interesting to watch how Myrnin's reaction to the carnage changed as he followed Kelsier. Yes, for a while there he seemed to have that odd excitement. Predatory, really, with how he was willing to hunt the various guards. Up to a point. Because eventually he pulled to a halt. His expression had been changing throughout all of this, slowly gaining more and more discontent. Apparently it had gotten bad enough that he'd had to stop. He slowly came to a stop and looked at Kelsier's back. His eyes were wide and maybe just a bit bloodshot. Like they were about to produce tears. "... Do you know if they have families?" he asked softly.

Kelsier wasn’t watching Myrnin. He should have been. The vampire was a guest to this gray world. Of course, not even everyone here saw things the way Kelsier did, but… But Myrnin didn’t even have the benefit of knowing how things were. Not more than in theory, and things were always so, so much worse in practice. He heard the voice, though, and paused, looking back to meet his eyes, only to find… Ah, Myrnin. It was a good thought. In the House, it would have been the right question. Kelsier looked him over, then shook his head a tiny bit, though more at himself than in answer to the question. Perhaps this had been a bad idea. It wasn’t Myrnin’s fault that he wasn’t too angry to grieve these particular souls. “I think that’s enough for tonight,” he told him, his voice suddenly gentle. “Shall we depart?”

Doesn't he care? Myrnin wondered. Did he care? He found himself shifting from foot to foot, so confused by the reaction of his friend. How could this be how he reacted to Myrnin's question? But he didn't want to press. So he just ... just nodded. "Yeah. Departing. Sounds ... sounds good." How did he do this? As if Myrnin hadn't just killed these guards without thinking about it. It was almost hypercritical. But at the same time, he didn't want to say that he liked killing others, but it was part of his nature. Kelsier though? Myrnin didn't know. He scuttled to Kelsier and looked to him for direction. "Where next then?"

The answer to Myrnin’s question was complicated. It wasn’t one that could be answered briefly, or without context. Did Kelsier care? He would answer that as best he could, if Myrnin asked. He wondered if his friend knew why he’d done this. He thought, with some regret, that he was so used to having a different purpose in the House than in his own world, it hadn’t even occurred to him to warn the vampire. His morals were unchanged no matter where he was. It was just the people around him that weren’t the same. He flipped a dagger, but the effortlessness of it was lost now. He wondered if Myrnin had ever killed before. Then he nearly laughed at the ridiculousness of the thought; he himself had died at this man’s hand, not so long ago. He abandoned the idea of securing the atium as Myrnin seemed to attach himself to him, vampire-to-Mistborn. He doubted Myrnin would appreciate watching him kill any more just now, and it would be unavoidable if they were discovered by more guards, or even Hazekillers. So instead he took Myrnin’s hand and began to move towards the nearest escape, his pace somewhere between a run and a jog.

Myrnin followed after, hand gripped tightly around Kelsier. He was unsure what to make of the Mistborn's silence, but part of him self like he was on a deck of an unsteady ship, unable to balance properly. He wanted to burry his face into Kelsier's cloak - as the only familiar being around - and pretend that he suddenly didn't feel so lost. This felt wrong. Terrible, even. He had no context for what was going on and no way to work it out. So, instead, he hurried along after the other man, letting himself be led and guided. "Where are we going?" he eventually asked, the words catching a bit in his throat. He wasn't running out of breath or anything of the kind, but he did find himself struggling with the pace regardless. It was that unfamiliar, topsy-turvy feeling.

Kelsier nearly rounded a corner, then stopped, eyeing the guard standing at attention near the window. The alarms would be ringing through this place already - though it wasn’t one of the higher houses, so he doubted the security would be all that good - so every guard would be prepared for trouble, but still. Kelsier didn’t want to cause Myrnin any more distress than necessary. This was probably necessary. “Hold that thought,” he said, and turned the corner. The guard looked up. And Kelsier calmly Pushed on something behind him, anchoring himself in place, as he flared steel and Pushed the man’s armor. The man screamed as he flew backwards, smashing through the glass and into the dark mists. Kelsier stopped Pushing instantly, so he wouldn’t fly out after him, and strode to the broken window. “I’ll go first,” he said, glancing at Myrnin. “So I can break your fall again. Alright?”

Kelsier likely underestimated Myrnin's hearing - the fact that he could hear the guard. Could hear him. Hear him. He stared at Kelsier. But before the other man could exit though the window, Myrnin leaped forward, his arms wrapping around Kelsier in a tight squeeze. A hug. His eyes were squinted shut. It was really the wrong moment to hurt anyone - and maybe that's why Myrnin was hugging Kelsier the way that he was. Because it was easier and it was also just ... some semblance of comfort. "Don't," he breathed ... And then he found himself tipping toward the broken window ...

Kelsier turned, ready to leap out, but Myrnin was faster. He stopped, stumbling a little in surprise as Myrnin’s arms wrapped around him…and understood. “Ah, Myrnin…” His voice was gentle, and he knew there was no time for it now, but he wrapped his arms around the vampire anyway. “I’ll explain everything. I swear it.” And then they were tipping, and Kelsier’s hug tightened a little. He couldn’t survive a fall like this without Allomancy, and he couldn’t reach his coins with Myrnin hugging him as tightly as he was, but he refused to push him back. He had caused this, he hadn’t thought it through, so now he would have to fix it. Well…there was the guard. He knew Myrnin wouldn’t like it. But hopefully Myrnin wouldn’t have to know. He prepared himself to Push on the fallen guard’s armor to slow their fall, and held on.

There was a pronounced yelp from Myrnin as they tumbled down, but there really was nothing that he could do now. So he just kept tumbling down while holding onto Kelsier throughout. He had no idea what was going to happen and he had no idea what it was that he was going to face other than that they were very far up. "Eeeee?" he noted, as they completely left the range of the building and just tumbled into the darkness and ash outside. Whatever Kelsier was going to do, he better do it now!

Kelsier braced himself, arms wrapped firmly around Myrnin as they both fell. He was aware that this had gone badly. He was also aware that this was exactly why he had planned to visit other people’s worlds, not to invite them to his own…he loved this world, in some ways. In that fierce way you sometimes loved family, even if you didn’t particularly like them. But he was aware that it was a terrible place. And that his place in it was complicated, by most people’s standards. At the moment, however, they both had bigger things to worry about. Kelsier flared iron as they fell, Pushing on the fallen guards armor to slow their fall. His aim was slightly off - or his balance, it wasn’t like he knew what Myrnin weighed - and they tilted dangerously, but he managed to hold on and a moment later they touched down, harder than most of his landings but not hard enough to hurt. He released Myrnin, turning to look back up the way they’d come for a moment before he turned back to his friend. “Are you alright?”

Myrnin wasn't too sure how to answer that. He looked blankly at Kelsier for several long moments, then nodded his head. Then he sort of looked around and asked, "Where to now?" After all, there wasn't anyway he'd know how to navigate this area. It was just luckily that he had a guide.

Kelsier stepped back, eyeing the vampire for a moment before he replied. “Well…it depends,” he said finally. “Scadrial isn’t exactly known for its tourist traps, but…I’m sure we could find somewhere interesting to visit. If you’re sure you’re alright. I should be used to how differently other people’s work, by now.”

“I’d … be more interested in where you live than a tourist trap,” Myrnin admitted. He also shrugged a bit, because yes, a tourist trap was okay. But it just really wasn’t something that he particularly found himself desiring. Then again, he needed a breath of fresh air too. He was having an issue thinking straight. The ideas weren’t … working for him.
