Hey all,
My boyfriend has autism. For him, a severe lack of reading comprehension and memory issues are just symptoms. When he reads, the words don't have meaning. He doesn't picture a scene. The words go in one ear and out the other. I've tried everything. Reading for him, audiobooks, even finding a book in his native language. But no dice- he still just can't read well.
He wants to get into Warriors. He wants to understand the lore and the characters. But he can't from what I've seen so far. My question is this: do y'all know of any completed fan-made comic adaptations, fan dubs with pictures, well-made game adaptations, or possibly even just easier to read adaptations? Thank you.

Does he have an issue with visualizing the scenes when he reads (like with aphantasia)? If so, this fandom has some incredible artwork that he could turn to. A lot of the most iconic scenes in the series have been drawn; if he just wants to get a general sense of the characters and the 'mood' of certain scenes, this could be a good place to start. As for videos, Moonkitti's "I Spoil" series summarizes a lot of the books in a satirical way. I think they're more suited for people who are already fans since she snarks about the plot and characters a lot, but it's something. There's also a project in development to animate Into The Wild. I have no idea if/when it will be completed, but the concept art so far looks fantastic! It's @/WCAnimated on Twitter. The Simple English Wikipedia has brief plot summaries for TPB-PO3. Also, what sort of media does he already enjoy? Is there a common theme that makes them easy for him to digest? That could help narrow his preferences down a bit.

He has aphantasia, combined with terrible reading comprehension and memory. Moonkitti's series is too fast for him. He doesn't know any of the characters, and the brief introductions that she gives aren't enough for him. I've tried showing the scenes and some comics, but he always feels like he's just dropped into a scene (feels no attachment to the characters). I haven't tried showing him the simple English wiki page, that's a good idea! Maybe that will be enough intro to understand the I Spoil series. He's very much into video games, specifically platformer games. He even makes games. There isn't really a link.. he wants to get into Warriors because he wants to understand the things my friends and I talk about, and he wants to be supportive of my silly cat hobbies. I'd love to show him a Warriors game, but all of the ones I've found have been very obviously amateurish, to the point where he doesn't know what to do in the game. There is a YouTuber called Bok Choy who has animated 2 books And there's a YouTuber called pink bunny who makes the book stories with LSP I'll have to try those! I doubt he'll be able to remember much, though.
