It's not fun being Searc, that's for sure. The whole 'feeling useless when he's bested' is probably thanks to his upbringing, I suppose?
Trying to draw a little again today. Currently working on Jasmine and Akakios and it's frickin' hilarious. When I first sketched those two I somehow managed to give Akakios a smug smile. But now that I'm trying to recreate it he suddenly turned into some creepy weirdo who's all like "Hey kid, want some candy?" Holy shit, that's not what he's like at all! At least Jasmine still looks normal.

What a jolly family. Can we have a paralogue where the Golden Deer pay Searc's parents a visit? "You know what? **** those two, we're your family now. So... where do they live anyway? We uh... we just want to talk." Maybe Philomel could adopt him. But anyway, it's definitely not something Searc can just unlearn, even if everyone would try to convince him that not being the best doesn't make him worthless.

And yes let's just get him adopted to a nicer family. But he could very well get out of the mentality since he still is fairly young, but with him being close to adulthood it would just take a lot of effort

Oh definitely. Especially when they find out what they're really like. Pretty sure Akakios would just see it as another reason to look down on the surface-dwellers, seeing them as wild beasts who don't even care about their own families and would use them without any hesitation. And yes, he'd be deliberately ignoring the fact that plenty Agarthans would do the same. Or he'd be like "Sure, but that's different. Unlike those creatures we actually have good reasons for it."
Yeah, probably. But it would take time. And ideally he should be away from them. Looks like spending a year at the Academy is the best opportunity for him.
Yup! Unfortunately for him it's either be an idiot or be friends with an idiot.

That's the fun part though. Ignoring or justifying that crap even though he personally knows someone who has a shitty parent like that. Though in that case it's more like a "Well yeah, there are always exceptions."
As for seeing how a noble family acts, I'm almost afraid of what my characters might do. Oh, they'll definitely try to be at their best behavior but I think Callan will be really awkward about it. As for Julius, it really depends on how Neason and Searc act around their parents.
So there's no escape, huh? And he'd have no choice but to play along since he has to pick someone from the Golden Deer. I swear, at the end of every day Julius/Akakios just slams the door to his room and mutters "I didn't sign up for this" over and over again.

Searc becomes 3ven more closed off, only speaking when spoken to, and basically more introverted, neason is the same as he normally is, just with a bit more self restraint(surprisingly)
Pretty much, you cannot escape from neason, if he wants to be friends with you he does whatever it takes to make it happen

Oh I'll be having fun with that guy. Aside from not-so-subtly pointing out the flaws of (unfortunately many) noble families he will probably make some remarks during the Verdant Rain Moon, saying how it's strange that it's only the foreign students who disappear and how there's always been some people among the (unnamed npc) students and even the people of the monastery who aren't too keen on accepting "outsiders". If he heard about the other disappearances in the previous years he'll also loudly wonder why no one has tried to put a stop to it. You know, just trying to sow some distrust towards those who are supposed to keep them save.
Heck, maybe he'll secretly ask some of the other disguised Agarthans (maybe some seemingly harmless merchants and other hidden-in-plain-sight-people who will travel around for a bit) to try to subtly let those outside the monastery know about these weird occurrences. While it doesn't seem to do much at first it could pay off much later after even more bad stuff happens.
Keep in mind that Akakios firmly believes that the surface-dwellers would betray each other for even the dumbest things and that it won't take much for the three nations (and the other countries) to go to war with each other. He will make some attempts to make this a reality. Whether he and the other Agarthans succeed at this or not is entirely up to all of us, of course. His plan is basically to turn all the countries against each other and while they're busy taking each other out the Agarthans have the perfect chance to try and conquer the outside world, maybe even using their 'javelins of light' at some point. "Alright, they're all distracted now, time to reclaim the whole damn continent!" Again, that's just what he wants to happen, not what we actually have to do.
Ah, more teacher shenanigans xD And Philomel finally adopting Searc like he should.

Do you think the Agarthans know what popcorn is? Because if they do he'd totally grab some while he watches the chaos xD But yeah, that's pretty much what he'll try to achieve. He'll try to be subtle about it and when he spreads rumors he'll be careful about not letting anyone know that they came from him. Also, by the end of the year everyone will probably so close that they would never suspect their own classmates. But maybe they'll suspect one of the church members or a knight who, unfortunately for our spies, is also one of the disguised Agarthans? While Akakios meant to make some totally unrelated church member/knight look suspicious it doesn't work out the way he wanted and they accidentally suspect one of the bad guys. Something like that, I don't know yet.
Or we make two more characters to make the Deer and Lions complete, both of them outsiders and/or beastkin who for some reason don't get captured by the Racist Scumbags during the Verdant Rain Moon. I have some characters I don't really plan on using sitting around in my drafts, one of them is a wolfskin with a crest. Because that evil cult thinks outsiders shouldn't have crests and that they only got them through dark magic they'd probably ignore Tahvo, either thinking he's only half-wolskin or tainted by dark magic and therefore of no use to them since they only want pure-blood beastkin for their experiment. Yeah, no. Let's think of something else xD

Nah, I'm fine with them splitting up for now. As for some sort of mini mission or something of that kind, maybe we could do something like that later on in the rp, during one of the first months? Because it sounds like it could be fun!
I'd really love to see them being forced to work together when the "outsiders" try to escape and/or get rescued by their classmates and the knights though! Both of them running into each other and having to fight some of those racist fanatics together xD

Ugh, now I'm really tempted to bring Tahvo in. But that means I have to come up with a personal skill and a relic, plus its effect... But we do need a red herring or two. And what better way than not only some knight and/or church member but also a student or two who didn't get captured despite being foreigners? Heck, maybe they could even arrive late (so Megumi still won't have to participate in the mock battle xD "We're a few weeks late so we have a lot of studying to catch up on. Sorry, we probably won't be much use during the mock battle.") which will make them look even more suspicious once everyone starts to wonder who could be behind all those incidents and how the bad groups are always so well informed. Schuyler is a pale grey skinned individual. Schuyler has black hair with the same sky blue eyes. He has one tail that is scaled resembling a scorpions.
