Philomel Oleandrius | 37 | Male | Golden Deer | Warlock (he is also a certified Bishop) | No Crest | a fairly tall man at 5’11, Philomel has a shock of sage-green hair threaded through with gold like a kintsuji ceramic. His eyes are amber, the colour of warmed honey, and he has a kindly face complete with a whimsical moustache. He wears bright bottle green robes, a pattern of orange leaves scrawled across the hems, and has a pair of reading glasses hanging from a chain around his neck. Never far from his side is his pet little owl, Malin, whom he affectionately refers to as ‘Mal’. | Philomel is a patient and tolerant professor, delighting in advising his students (something he is rather good at) and encouraging them to find their own paths in life. This patience, it seems, is a bottomless reservoir as he has been professor of numerous tough to handle classes in the past. Armed with his fatherly kindliness and quiet protectiveness, Philomel has made himself a well-liked and valued member of the monastery’s staff. This is perhaps doubly so because he is not only one of the three professors but the resident physician. He takes this job very seriously. Students dying on his watch is one of the only things he seems to fear so he does his very best to keep them safe. Other than this, it is no secret that Philomel has a green thumb. He has been known to conduct classes within the greenhouse purely because he believes it to be a nice change of pace from the ‘stuffy, old classrooms’. He gardens a lot in his own time too and it isn’t uncommon to see smudges of dirt on his robes. His love of plant-life has actually earned him a number of nicknames from his students: Professor Treelover, Professor Flowerpot, Professor Greenblood… | Interests: gardening, giving advice, caring for the animals of the monastery, healing | Likes: plants of all types, animals of all types, lively students, Mal | Dislikes: selfish and un-caring people, cruelty, lack of forethought | Apparently has an adopted son who is travelling Almyra. | Philomel comes from a minor noble family. Said family, the Oleandrius’, have a long history of possessing the crest of Saint Cethleann although Philomel himself did not inherit it. His little owl, Malin, was rescued by him when he found him lying on the floor of the greenhouse with a broken wing and promptly nursed him back to health. The two have been inseparable ever since. His strengths are flying, reason and faith whilst his weaknesses are in brawling, axe and heavy armour. | Sussuru |
