Okay, so I’m currently re-reading PO3, and there’s something I noticed that’s really bothering me. Early in the arc, not long after Graystripe and Millie return to ThunderClan, there’s a greencough outbreak, and I specifically remember Millie volunteering for extra patrols because the vet had vaccinated her against most illnesses so she couldn’t get sick. But then, in Long Shadows when there’s a greencough outbreak, Millie is the first to get sick and almost dies from it. This is just one of those random inconsistencies that really annoys me.

The reason for Millie's extreme sickness was probably to make Graystripe worry about losing his second mate.

Graystripe and Millie start their journey in greenleaf while Long Shadows takes place more than a year later. It's less of a mistake and more likely that the vaccine just wore off by the time Millie got sick.

It makes sense that she probably wasn’t up to date on her shots anymore. But it still kinda bothers me that it’s never mentioned again? Like, why do we never see Graystripe ask about it? I feel like that’s something he should remember about his mate.

Vaccines can expire. There's a reason you have to take your pets back to the vet every now and then! (And you needing your shots every now and then as well) It's possible that Millie was probably like "Oh I have my shots so I'm immune" only to later have that be lolfalse.
Granted, the fact it's not mentioned even in passing during/after the Greencough thing is eh, then again the Erins always forget one-off stuff like that. BUT, that doesn't make her getting sick after saying she's had her shots an inconsistency, Cats (especially wild feral cats) aren't safe from sickness even with their shots.

i agree with everyone else. her shots expired. we dont know when her last one or last vet visit was before she met graystripe. and then she leaves her kittypet life behind to travel with him. i dont know how long the span of time is for the graystripe manga when the two are traveling to find the lake.

According to the timeline on the wiki, Graystripe and Millie leave in greenleaf, the same year and season Hawkfrost is killed. They find the Clans in leaf-bare, so about six moons, give or take, and Long Shadows take place the leaf-fall of that year.

Millie's shots definitely must have expired- that's the only reason why she got greencough after mentioning that. I hope the Erins did it on purpose because being cat owners, they'd probably know.

I suppose it just bugs me that nobody was like “I tHoUgHt YoU wErE iMmUnE”. I guess it’s more likely a one off that got forgotten, but still. Just a random thing that bugs me. 😂 Nothing super critical to the plot or anything.

More to the point, who's to say greencough is even the same disease every time? The cats don't have an inkling of even miasma theory, let alone germ theory. They could be calling a bunch of different unrelated viruses and bacteria all greencough just due to similar symptoms.
