Thoughts on it? I think my favorite part about it was that Tui had basically taken the opportunity to fix how Darkstalker had been defeated by having Jerboa choose to get rid of her magic (of course, the fact that she would literally lose pieces of herself each time she did probably helped as well). Not sure if that was her intention, but I like it. It's a shame neither Turtle or Anemone had a say in it though, though I don't think they would've protested much, either (or at least Turtle wouldn't have, and Stonemover definitely wouldn't have).
Also, Lynx and Mink are my babies.

i really liked it for the most part, it was heartwarming seeing snowfall learn about empathy and reject oppressive icewing traditions and decide to stop secluding her tribe. i feel like her character development was rushed near the ending though with her suddenly deciding to smash the great cliff and the ranking wall and the crown. i do feel like there should have been some more buildup? i loved seeing snowfall's backstory though with queen glacier and her relationship with her sisters. mink is so cute! the plot moved forward nicely except when i think about it, all they really did was find refuge in sanctuary and make a plan right at the very end and a little bit of insight in what was going on in pantala. but i guess that's all they could do in this book? maybe? glad to see winter again and that he's doing well! he seems to be opening up and becoming more like his true self instead of the dragon he was for a long time with his guard up. and gosh, i loved the qibli and winter reunion ahaha. lynx was amazing too she was really sold as a character and i loved her and snowfall's relationship. a bit sad they didn't become a bit more given how much lynx cared about her and the perfect setup for a rivals to lovers story buuuut i guess i can't have everything. not a fan of the sky and snowfall implications?? i just can't see it, especially since she compared him to her little sister?? bit weird. i think they're better as friends? but oh my, sky was so endearing in his scene, him asking for daffodil but then proceeding to gush over snails and turtles was so cute haha. the scavengers return was nice to see! and winter finally gets to communicate with scavengers!! that was so cute to see! i'm glad he has daffodil as a companion now hehe. i'm a little sad he isn't going on the mission with moon and qibli, i just want them all to journey again ;n; but i feel like tui is wrapping up his story and his ending is pretty much living happily taking care of the scavengers in Sanctuary and honestly, that's fine. i don't think he ever needed romantic love to be happy so much as friendship and dragosn who helped him come out of his shell and be loved for himself. the abyss sounds interesting,,, i'm glad the scavenger squad is back to work with the dragons and they can't get eaten anymore! oh my gosh jerboa's story was so sad :/ jerboa the first was so terrifying and awful, her enchanting and messing up boa's life and memories was so sickening to read about but it makes for a great backstory. oh my gosh that curse was sad :/ she couldn't even enjoy her newfound power the wrap around to her appearance in darkstalker was amazing, the shell necklace made perfect sense. her removing animus magic forever made so much sense and honestly? i'm kind of glad but also kind of sad but animus magic did cause a whole LOT of pain in many different ways to many different dragons. i loved the mention of her friendship with queen glacier though! overall i loved the character development, the character interactions, and the backstories. i feel like the plot could have progressed a little more? but i feel like this installment was more on the lighthearted and relaxed side so it worked it out well! i kind of thought it would be more intense but i loved it nonetheless!

Agreed with all of this! I'm also glad Winter got some closure after everything he went through in the second arc. I was also hoping for SnowxLynx, mostly because I'm tired of dragons getting together with other dragons they just met (Lynx at least clearly knew Snowfall for awhile before they started becoming friends). Sky's nice and all, but I see no reason why he and Snowfall can't just have a brother-sister relationship, especially when she already compared him to Mink anyway. Thankfully Tui implied she wouldn't get one, but that could always change.

Yeah! i feel very happy for winter since he is finally at peace and i really think sky and snowfall should have just been friends, i can't see how she might ever think of him as anything more than a younger brother as he reminded her of her little sister. lynx and snowfall knew each other since childhood and the rivals to lovers tension was there, i know i saw it i'm so sad tui didn't make it happen considering how much they came to care about each other. i might guess that it could happen later on but tui usually establishes or hints at relationships in the books they're set up in so

i actually really liked this book? which is surprising, considering i haven't liked much of the third arc so far. i have a more in-depth post on how i felt about it here, but yeah i really enjoyed it. i like how it focused more on Snowfall's character development rather than the plot, it really worked in her favour here and as someone who isn't a fan of the current plot of arc three, it's nice i love Lynxfall and wish more people liked it, regarding Skyfall it's...eh? i kind of like it and i kind of don't, at the same time? like, i do think it's interesting and could have potential if given actual time and Sky matures more, but it's not something i like in that it seems rushed and thrown in there. but i don't mind it? it's something i don't care about in the long run. and honestly, i'm still of the opinion that Leaf x Ivy is way worse, my heavy bias against it aside - like, they meet in the same exact part, in the maybe three weeks they knew each other nothing is stated about their relationship except Ivy introducing him to her mom, Leaf's side of the relationship feels really clingy and considering how he viewed the other important figures in his life, it feels like a toned down idolization. and if you took out the kiss it just reads as platonic, Daffodil and Wren's comments/teasing is in character for them both anyways. Skyfall isn't really good, but it's better than that. i really don't think it's going to be touched on in the next book though. i also love Daffodil to bits in this book idfk why people were complaining about her. like? it's absolutely in character for her bite a dragon (an IceWing no less) five times, constantly try to escape (like if she had been arrested instead of Violet? she absolutely would've tried and you can't tell me otherwise), and playing with a young dragonet if given the chance. from what people were saying this book just made her worse and it...didn't? idk if they're just salty about Ivy not showing up (and i mean i sort of am as she's my favourite character but like Daffodil's also cool-) or they just hate Daffodil's guts. i also find Wren and Daffodil's friendship hilarious and while i really want to see how Wren and Ivy's relationship would be like canonically (listen i am a starved Wrenvy shipper and that aside it'd just be cute to see Ivy interact with her more-), i like this expansion on their friendship lmao. i just wish that Violet could've been mentioned in some way because it's Daffodil but like ig i can see why not. kind of feel bad for Violet though since like if she's still in Valor then some time after Ivy left her other best friend just got abducted so i?? i feel awful lmao. (i mean unless Violet went with them? absolutely unclear if Daffodil and Violet (and Stone for that matter) decided to go what with tdg and Daffodil and Stone just straight up not appearing after that ending. either way Violet's probably losing it and i feel bad). and i still don't see why people are complaining that Daffodil and Bumblebee was Bumblebee "yanking on her hair" and Daffodil being "obsessed" with Bumblebee?? like no, they're just playing...i'm sure if Bumblebee was yanking on Daffodil's hair, Daffodil would've stopped her. i get the size differences but i feel like people are just getting way too caught up in their hatred for Dragonslayer (and it's characters) and/or Bumblebee. it was literally just them playing, my only issue is the inconsistent size differences Raven was also great lmao, i love her chaotic self. i am excited to see what role she plays in the next book honestly (and off topic but i remember someone on the wiki mentioning Wren x Raven as a crack ship and i? i could actually see this working out what with their personalities tbh. but i'm more of a fan of Raven x Ivy x Wren, because i love shipping crack ships, joy). also interested in seeing more of the abyss the ending was also really sad and it makes Glacier's death sadder, and last part of part three really shows how much Snowfall's progressed as a character. and regarding the epilogue i find it morbidly amusing how casually Vole chucks people into the abyss..like- i am probably heavily biased because i loved Snowfall prior to this book and the Dragonslayer character appearances made me really happy because Dragonslayer is my favourite book and i love most of the characters in it, but i still really liked tdg. my favourite main series book, honestly. but god i'm not looking forwards to people claiming that humans being protected more and having a law against eating them, especially since they're a sentient species and are also pretty much endangered means this is becoming httyd?? like the hell?? it's not and it's literally impossible for it to become that because the world of wof is literally dragon dominated, as of now the world is built for a dragon society. dragons have had power over humans for centuries now. there is no way it will become a human dominated society just because there's a law in place that protects humans (where it's also acknowledged that not everyone will follow it in the book!) and because Wren and Sky exist, it doesn't mean this is becoming httyd istfg- my ranting aside i think that with the whole dragon-human alliance thing going on in Sanctuary, it could lead into a premise for a potential Dragonslayer sequel? like, ik that Undauntable and the epilogue gave something but i really feel like this has more potential, especially considering how Ivy was mentioned to have dragons and humans making peace to be her "great quest" (which was what Wren said but i digress, Ivy probably would call it that), and Rowan and her friends are currently making a town and Ivy made it a point to say that they should educate people how they could communicate with dragons. it seems unlikely but if we get a sequel i'm hoping it's more about this and also explaining if Daffodil and/or Violet went with them like i am confused how Daffodil got captured since Valor and Sanctuary are...not very close. that and i just want to read about Ivy more (and hopefully Rowan? i love her). ...if it seems like i'm more excited for a potential Dragonslayer sequel than book 15 then you'd be right, i am and i get the feeling 15's going to be rushed with the ending. i'm only really going to read it for certain characters because i like them a lot. but yeah i liked tdg a lot

That bad, huh? Yikes. Poor Daffodil especially. And I agree, there's no way humans are going to be the dominant species again, especially after this long.

That bad, huh? Yikes. Poor Daffodil especially. And I agree, there's no way humans are going to be the dominant species again, especially after this long. hhh yeah i only really interact with the fandom on tumblr these days outside of here, really wish it wasn't like that. would like to interact with other places but the fandom scares me
and agreed. i don't really get the Daffodil hate here since she barely even spoke in this book iirc. honestly my only gripe about it is that there was never really a clear explanation on what happened to Daffodil, Stone, Violet, and etc after Heath was removed as Valor's lord. really should've been a scene where Ivy explained what happened to the other Wingwatchers and Violet (with Daffodil there so we could've had them all reuniting because Daffodil made a reasonably huge deal over Violet getting arrested and i don't get why it wasn't touched on when Violet was finally freed). or at least have Daffodil show up with them when they go to Talisman, i'm still confused why Daffodil was with them when there wasn't any indication on her going with. i was really hoping to see Ivy instead but like i'm fine with Daffodil appearing, and honestly it makes more sense to assume it was Daffodil instead of Ivy since i feel Ivy would've been perfectly fine with being in that situation unlike Daffodil (or at least wouldn't attempt biting Winter several times and succeeding)
yeah i get being concerned that humans are going to take over the main focus of wof but i'm pretty sure Tui's plan was to stay focused on the dragons from the get go and it's not...really changing? pretty sure that the whole human protection thing going on here is barely going to be mentioned in the main series and would be kept to a follow up for Dragonslayer if anything at all, since more focus is going to be put onto the othermind and Wasp in book 15, and the humans in that may be focused on but like - pretty sure it's going to be mainly due to the othermind if TDG's epilogue is anything to go by
i have strong doubts that an endangered species having a law protecting them means that the series is becoming more human focused, anyways. i mean sentient or not i feel there should've been something in place to keep others from eating them or killing them for sport?? like the same holds true irl, i don't see why it shouldn't/can't happen in wof
