I was going through my childhood collection of Warriors books and got hit with a wave of nostalgia over the cover art. I think the new style of covers aren't bad, but something about Wayne McLoughlin's style just gives me the warm fuzzies in a way that the new artist hasn't quite replicated. What are your favorite and least favorite pieces of cover art? Here are mine: Favorite Wayne McLoughlin cover: The First Battle. The background scene is detailed and gives a hint of the story without revealing too much, and the warm yellow behind Tall Shadow's portrait really pops out. Least favorite Wayne McLoughlin cover: Long Shadows. Sol looks cool, but the background is so boring. Favorite reprint/new style cover: The Place of No Stars. Ashfur looks super menacing, and I love the colour contrast between the blue and red. Least favorite reprint/new style cover: Twilight. It looks like Leafpool accidentally opened the front camera of her phone and took a picture. |

I like most of the reprinted North American covers except for Midnight and Twilight because the angles of both Brambleclaw and Leafpool make them look so weird. The other TNP reprinted covers are fine in my opinion.
I'm not that familiar with the original covers by Wayne McLoughlin because I only started reading the Warriors series in English shortly after the fourth arc came out and so the nostalgia is not a big factor for me and his art style, while pleasant to see on some covers, feels a bit dated to me at times.

It’s really hard to pick a favorite cover, I enjoy the majority of them from both Wayne and Owen, here’s a few least favorites though, Wayne: Long Shadows
Owen: Bluestar’s Prophecy, Tallstar’s Revenge, and The Darkest Hour.

Old covers: favorite is The Sight, least favorite is Long Shadows.
New covers: favorite is literally anything from Dawn of the Clans, least favorite is literally anything from The New Prophecy.

FavouriteOld: Sunset's background is really nice. I like lil Cloudpaw on the Rising Storm cover. Bluestar's Prophecy.  New: The Fourth Apprentice. Firestar looks very cute on his SE. Least FavouriteOld: Long Shadows is boring. Crowfeather's head looks misshapen on the Twilight cover. Bramblestar looks like a teddy bear on his SE cover. New: Nearly all of them tbh. Bluestar's Prophecy, Graystripe's Vow, Leopardstar's Honour. Rising Storm, A Dangerous Path. Like all of TNP. TPB-POT suffers from the cats mugging the camera while OOTS-TBC suffers from every cat looking the exact same face and body-wise and the lighting making it hard to figure out who is who half the time. Like Windstar and Bramblestar look like the same cat.
