All background characters serve no purpose whatsoever in the Clan. The Erins either drag them out to cause drama (EX: Millie & Blossomfall, Berrynose & Poppyfrost, and even the Dark Forest trainees) but then they become useless. They're just for a plot device.
I don't see anything wrong with it, but Bramblestar needs to stop keeping kittypets and loners, and couples need to stop having kits. Berrynose worried about kits over nothing - we don't need more kits right now. ThunderClan has way too many background characters that needs to go.

forgive me, but this topic is dumb. If you made this to troll me then you have succeeded.
Math is why Thunderclan has so many cats. Populations grow exponentially. Cats in the warriors world have more children over multiple generations proportionately when compared to humans. While humans have 1 or 2 generations having children all at once, warriors has 5 generations having children all at once. So its natural that the population would increase due to a high birth rate.
The death rate is low because few things kill the cats. The most fatal is green cough plague and its fatality is dependent upon strand much like influenza.
In short, high birth rate and low death rate create a big population. The most sufficient way of getting the deaths necessary to keep the population at about 20 is to eliminate the code that states a warrior does not need to kill to prove they have won. This would naturally inflate the child mortality rate. Ignoring the logistics of creating that plot, Do you think a series where half the children die due to being child soldiers without a moral code is marketable to young children? No it isn't. There are other ways to inflate the death rate, like plague, but do we want to see more plague? The cats are tough enough to get around humans and big animals.
"The clans need to stop having kits" is a ridiculous statement in that there is no way to enforce that besides forced sterilization which is unethical on "intelligent beings" and an alternative method that is successful has yet to be found despite governments spending millions of dollars on research to answer the issue of "population control". Sure you could have some humans capture some cats and sterilize them, but there is no way that could be portrayed as a good thing because its not ethical. Furthermore there are a lot of people who don't think the target demographic is old enough to learn about reproduction. So a plot that is literally about abstinence or some form of sex ed is not serviceable to the audience.
immigrants make the clan stronger, Bramblestar doesn't bring in that many cats, once again math, lets move on.
Even when the clans were smaller there were a lot of useless background characters who did not die. This is not a new thing. Heck its not even new to literature.
Look, I know this topic is here to start a discussion. However I don't know what conversation there is to be had. Everything said here has been proven to have been false in other threads.

1. capturing cats to sterilize them is something that should definitely be done in "the real world" to prevent feral colonies from continuing on. outdoor cats contribute greatly to the extinction of many species, most notably various birds. they also pose health risks for humans and things of that nature. adding it to the books would be questionable considering the demographic it's marketed toward though that's true.
2. petition for asexual representation in the warrior world

The real reason is because the Erins and HarperCollins, so far, have refused to kill off a mass population of cats. Vicky even stated a few years ago that the reason a mass kill hasn't occured is because creating names for new characters and developing their personalities is too hard. She said if they killed off everyone that we know, they'd have to start all over with a new cast and that's too hard for them apparently.
Also, HarperCollins seems to not want too many characters to die. People have said that more cats were supposed to die in The Last Hope, but HarperCollins didn't want that.
Hopefully this series will be different. So far, it seems promising. Except for the old cats dying. From what Kate has said, the oldies like Graystripe and Brackenfur willl continue to live on. The younger cats will probably be the ones who continue to die off screen

We empathize with them on an emotional level and see them as "intelligent". Forced sterilization of cats is common in our world but forced sterilization of humans is considered by many to be unethical. putting forced sterilization in warriors is putting an emotional face on animal sterilization. No one reading the books will see forced sterilization of animals as good if they read it from warriors.

She didn't say anything about him not dying. So he still might die this series.
