Heck, we have literally reincarnation and shared-body experiences for plot points as well. So it's not farfetched that one day there would be a cat from StarClan with malicious intent that would take advantage of their position to cause harm to others. Looking at it in-universe, I'm more surprised something like this didn't happen sooner. We know StarClan isn't infallible and it was only a matter of time before someone with just a bit too much resentment finally snapped (not that Ashfur was exactly mentally stable when he was alive either, though). No doubt seeing Squirrelflight in StarClan brought about some old feelings, if they were ever gone at all (unlikely, knowing him). And speaking of possession, depending on just how well-known this part is in StarClan, I'm wondering if Ashfur might've gotten inspiration to do the same to Bramblestar from Cinderpelt.

If it had literally been anybody else, it would have been great, but really? Warriors’ greatest villain? Ashfur? That’s so...disappointing. I was perfectly fine letting Ashfur’s annoying self fade into obscurity while fresh new faces were introduced. But some cat who’s mad a girl dumped him suddenly having more power than a nuclear generator pumped up with God powers? All this power and the motivation is that Squirrelflight didn’t go to Prom with him? It’s cliche, I don’t even care how realistic it is, it’s utterly cliche and makes the arc seem so pointless. It’s just Squirrelflight angst and she’ll kill him anyway, a Tiger or Fire kin will lead Thunderclan, and they’re gonna change parts of the Warrior code so Root and Bristle can make out behind a bush I guess. Go team, we really got this arc down good lmao.

its not cliche. this stuff happens a lot irl, minus the powers obviously. some people really do go off the deep end about not getting someone and its actually scary when it happens. Yeah, being upset that the impostor is Ashfur I get, but I really don't get how his motives are unrealistic in the slightest. Petty and pathetic, sure, but not unrealistic. There's a reason why the Yandere is such a common trope, and I can quite literally provide a list of some of the most vile people in history who's only motive was vengeance after rejection. And that's what makes Ashfur so scary. Not his powers, but his dedication. Also, just because something is a cliché doesn't necessarily make it a bad thing, either. Literature has been around for literally thousands of years, so it really depends on how the trope is executed. After all, this entire series started because Chosen One trope.

It’s realistic. Yes. But to me, it’s still such an underwhelming storyline. Believe me, I’ve experienced plenty of things that relate to this and I’m not blind to how it can be in real life, lmao. They should have made this arc sooner, given him less god powers, and gotten it over with sooner so we don’t have to drag this god awful incel plot out even farther. I just personally think this is underwhelming and annoying to read about over and over again.

OMG I HATE IT THE MOST!!!!! I was actually interested on who this imposter was and how they were able to do this only to hear that the cat is Ashfur. SERIOUSLY HIS ARC IS OVER LET SOMEONE ELSE BE THE VILLAIN AND STOP MAKING SQURRIELFLIGHT IMPORTANT!!!!! BOTH OF THEIR ARCS ARE OVER!!!!! Yes I understand people hate how he's in Starclan because of what he did but that was Vicky's fault. What's done is done and let's just move on. I'm so annoyed so many old cats are getting the spotlight again when all of the new characters should be getting it instead

i dont get people who say his stuff is done. are we supposed to just take from this that if youre a disgusting incel who tries to literally murder the family of the girl you liked you deserve to go to cat heaven? yes its vickys fault, but i heavily disagree that his stuff was done because these arguments have been going on for years and years and years. this will put it to rest and there can be a new original villain in arc 8 or whatever. no you dont have to like it. no one is saying you do.
*not to mention if it was someone else as the enemy the entire context of the arc would have to change.

I mean every thing has to be discovered by SOMEONE. If Ashfur simply got lucky enough or was clever enough to be the one to discover these abilities, I don't see what makes that so unrealistic. I mean, there's all kinds of famous people throughout history who just happened to pull one over other people despite a seeming lack of qualifications. With the logic being employed here, Genghis Khan would never have conquered most of Asia because some random bastard slave is not "big enough to be special". George Washington Carver would have never made such a huge impact on the US agricultural sector with his scientific discoveries because he was just born an illiterate slave. Sometimes seemingly ordinary people can distinguish themselves, this isn't really all that strange. Mudclaw's motivation being compared to Ashfur's is strange. When we last saw Mudclaw, he was running away like a coward from his failed coup and tried to blame it all on Hawkfrost. I think he'd actually be less believable as a vengeful spirit than Ashfur; Mudclaw doesn't have the strength of will to do that. Ashfur, on the other hand, is both insane enough and determined enough that yeah, I can see him pulling it off. simply being lucky isn't good enough for me. theres no logical in universe explanation they can write to explain how ashfur is the ONLY one for any of this stuff. and i use mudclaw to compare because u'd think somoene like mudclaw would still be bitter in death with how HIS story and life ended. there should be other cats in starclan who r a bit bitter about how their lives ended or what happened in their lives that they deemed unfair. but it's ONLY ashfur to ever do this...? just bc of vicky's mistake that no one in HC or the editing team had the guts to tell her NO to? if they just said NO about ashfur being in starclan, this wouldnt even be an issue and TBC would be better off bc there'd be no squirrelflight and ashfur focus to hijack another arc with new protags AGAIN (they already hijacked power of three together, and oots has its own big mess for another day). the point of bringing up mudclaw is to prove that the writers who came up with TBC didn't ask WHY. why is ashfur the only one to carry grudges in starclan when no other cat with actual reasons to be bitter about life were ever shown to? why is ashfur the only one to figure out a loophole in starclan and cause all this mysterious damage to the clans connection to it? its clear they never asked WHY when coming up with this plot. does no one see the problem of ashfur being the imposter to this day? because of ashfur being the imposter, root, shadow, and bristle have little to do with the end of this conflict. beause ashfur is only concerned with squirrelflight, it's only squirrelflight who should end ashfur otherwise it wont make sense for anyone else. AVOS went in a good direction with not super relying on old characters for too much, but TBC goesright back to squirrelflight and ashfur once again hijacking a whole arc for themselves...for a conflict that should have stayed gone since po3 Bristlefrost and Shadowsight are related to Ashfur! So they do have something to do with the end of the confilct!! Ferncloud's brother is Ashfur Ferncloud mated with Dustpelt and had Hollykit, Larchkit, Shrewpaw, Spiderleg, Birchfall, Foxleap and Icecloud. Spiderleg mated with Daisy and had Rosepetal and Toadstep. Birchfall mated with Whitewing and had Ivypool and Dovewing. Dovewing mated with Tigerstar ll and had Shadowsight, Lightleap and Pouncestep. Ivypool mated with Fernsong and had Bristlefrost, Thriftear and Flipclaw. Bristlefrost is Ashfur's Great-Grand niece
Shadowsight is Ashfur's Great-Grand nephew

Part of me is happy Ashfur's story's getting an end, but I'm disappointed at how it's flushing out. I wish his entire character arc doesn't revolve around Squirrelflight. I don't really care about how they hog the spotlight or whatsoever, but his villainy's trigger is just... being rejected. Sure, there are people like that in the real world, but this is a book series, and those reasons do not intrigue me. I wish something like 'being wronged by the Clans' 'How dare you lie about my death' some more stuff like that, I guess.
But honestly, can't he sit quietly in StarClan? Why do we need to pluck him out? Tbh, this doesn't "feel" like Ashfur. I thought he was this slightly tipped rejected but now?
