I feel bad for Shadowsight right now, he has been though so much right now and is still going though stuff in The Place Of No Stars.

He wants to owe up to his mistakes and be honest, which makes him redeemable imo. I still don't care for his story arc, but at least it's not as intolerable as his parents were.

I feel sorry for Shadowsight- after all, he's just a kid. I love that he's very honest and tries his best- not a lot of characters have those traits.

I haven't read the new series but I am still upset that Shadowsight was given the prefix 'Shadow-' since it is supposed to be a 'sacred' word they aren't supposed to use (like 'star', 'moon', etc). It's like... I know he is a 'special' cat but that, to me, makes it even worse.

I haven't read the new series but I am still upset that Shadowsight was given the prefix 'Shadow-' since it is supposed to be a 'sacred' word they aren't supposed to use (like 'star', 'moon', etc). It's like... I know he is a 'special' cat but that, to me, makes it even worse. Shadowsight isn't the first cat to have a Clan prefix (see Windflight), he's just the first one to live in the Clan he was named after (unless you count Skywatcher). At this point, I think it's more that the name isn't necessarily 'sacred' (considering no one in-universe has ever reacted negatively to the name), it's just not common because it would imply a certain arrogance. This is basically similar to why Moon- is uncommon; as Vicky stated, naming a cat with that sort of prefix would imply said cat was prettier and more special than their Clanmates, but it's not necessarily sacred. Basically, yes, it's uncommon for a reason, but not for the reasons you may think. |
