Actually, Hemlock's her father, not Hawthorn.

I like Hemlock more than Belladonna, she comes off as just... not the most caring of mothers. I mean she and Hemlock literally had Sundew just to have a dragon with strong leafspeak, so it makes sense that she wouldn't be very attached to Sundew. Hemlock isn't that fatherly either but at least he's a bit gentler than Belladonna.
