I don't love her.
She's literally a stalker, and she won't leave a grown man with a wife and children alone. She continues to visit his kin's dreams as well. She can't stop interfering. And her sweet scent?
Really. What does she eat? Candy? Toothpaste?
Or does she bathe every day in a bath filled with aroma or something?
The physical and mental description bothers me so much.
And she's a hypocrite.
First she gives this the most vague advice in history: Follow your heart.
Leafpool had just fought with her mentor about love, and love is something that comes from your heart. So naturally, she thought: OH! Spottedleaf is telling to go with Crowfeather! She didn't think: OH, yes. Even though I'm feeling the strong emotion of love that comes from my heart, the thing Spottedleaf means is to stay in my place!
Then, when later, Leafpool comes for advice, she says she's a foolish cat.
EXCUSE ME? I thought you were the one who gave that ridiculous advice.
If she wanted Leafpool to stay, she should've said something like Follow your brain.
Then she bugged me out when she said My love when she was dying.
So... is she taking advantage of Sandstorm going to avenge her death or something?
She confesses her love to everyone who was standing there, even his daughters.
If my helper was dying and she just said to my dad that she loved him, I'd be like: Wha... and fuming.
Spottedleaf can't help but poke her nose, or muzzle, in everyone's business.
If she was alive, I'm betting she'd have stalked Alderheart's dreams as well.
I wouldn't necessarily hate her if her character didn't evolve around love and Firestar.
In Spottedleaf's Heart, she's shown to train as a warrior first, which I'm incredibly sick of. Thistleclaw is shown to be SO disgusting in this one, and Spottedleaf grew the be literally the same thing.
Spottedleaf is bland, and she's close to a Mary-Sue, only that she has clingy problems, and... you know, annoying, kinda ew, and things.
I also dislike how every character wows up to her. Leafpool was mesmerized. I don't recall Jayfeather snapping at her like he and Yellowfang did. Firestar loved her. Sandstorm pretty respected her. She's told to be very skilled.

I'm not a huge fan. Firepaw having a crush on her was kind of cute, but there was no reason for it to be anything more than that, let alone for Spottedleaf to reciprocate.

her entire character is basically just a starclan plot device and love interest, and even then her relationship with firestar was out of nowhere at best and very disgusting at worst. so yeah i dont like her.

i am back to completely hating her...on one hand, i agree with raptor because spottedleaf was nothing more than a plot device and drama fodder and not a real character...but the amount of times firepaw/heart thought about her, and the unnecessary drama spottedleaf caused in firestar's quest was beyond irritating and stupid. and then spottedleaf's short story happened and she's a complete obsessive psycho who even at some point, wished for sandstorm to vanish so she could have firestar to herself...yikes. and her yucky novella doesn't help in any area of her character, so idk why they even wrote it...

She needs to stop. Stalker type characters are not funny nor are they "cute."
I think FirePAW having a crush on her made sense in a little kid way but not her reciprocating the feelings like why. That's so creepy. And then not leaving him or his family alone. Literally any other cat could have sent the messages but they chose Spottedleaf bc "ohhh my love."
She annoys me, glad she died lmao.

I dislike her. Like what everyone says Firepaw liking her makes sense since she's one of the cats who are nice to him and he is young so it's a young cat crush but her having feelings for him as well is just weird. I'm fine with her having a sweet scent since she does work with herbs so maybe certain types of herbs made her smell sweet. Also I'm fine with her being a guide to Firestar's kin. She's just "watching over them" and helping them out on certain things.

I like her actually, I always did. I guess as love interests I really do prefer nicer characters which I didn't feel like Sandstorm was. As I grew older I realized yes that her relationship with Firestar was very weird but I still feel sorry for her. She like many others was pressured into being a medicine cat and was a victim of preadetory behavior. Also I find it uncool that people blame FireSpotted entirely on Spottedleaf, he's almost as much to blame for whatever went on between them.

I don't think she's that bad (could be my bias about FireSand though).
What I do dislike about the SandFireSpotted love triangle is the whole thing.
Throw that stuff in the trash where it belongs.

Neutral, and mainly because I find the idea of her in some fan interpretations and AUs to be interesting.
So I guess you could say I'm cool with certain versions of fanon Spottedleaf while I dislike canon Spottedleaf

I liked her, actually. She seems like a good StarClan guide to leafpaw when she wants to.
I don't really know why people blame everything on Spottedleaf. She clearly sought to him in dreams to give him guidance. But the problem is that Firestar never told her off, and she kept beliving that he was fine with her visiting in dreams. Homever, she's not innocent. She said that she wanted Sandstorm to "vanish like dew", and called him "my love" when he was clearly together with Sandstorm, proving she was very jealous and selfish. I just don't like it when everything is blamed on Spottedleaf.

Spottedleaf says that he came to her in a dream to tell her that he couldn't be in love with a memory, because he wanted a full life with Sandstorm. Basically for her to stop visiting him in his dreams, since that's where she does the majority of her meddling.

I really like her, i just wish they wouldn't have butchered her character so badly.

"If I was alive I'd be suffering what you were suffering now" Bitch cat please make like a tree and go away. Also hot take but I don't consider it character butchering when she barely had a character to her outside being sweet and nice to begin with.

i would post my usual analysis explaining how the common fandom portrayal of her as a creepy stalker who hates sandstorm is not based in book evidence, but every time i do everyone just ignores me because they'd rather just blindly hate her based on this weird fandom meta-version of her, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Spottedleaf's relationship with Firepaw was pretty weird. Firepaw having a crush on her is normal, but if she ever reciprocated it while she was alive, which was sort of hinted at in one scene, that's weird asl. Her trying to guide him in the next couple books Into the Wild wasn't horrible, but once she saw Sandstorm liked Firestar, and especially once she saw him reciprocating those feelings, she should've backed the hell off. I'm a little mad at Firestar for being so indecisive over a childhood crush and his mate that he's known way, way longer in Firestar's Quest. Her still liking him after that book is whatever, but being vocal and pushy about it is creepy. I haven't read TLH, but since she really said that, it's just weird asl to me. Apparently they killed her off so Firestar wouldn't have to choose in StarClan, but here's the kicker. There shouldn't be any decision to make!

Because if it is than something doesn't add up on Firestar's end. I just reread the summary on the Warriors Wiki and while it doesn't clearly say when Firestar told her to shove it I'm confused by the part that states that it took place after his daughters had been born because Firestar's reaction to her in his SE was still very sappy in my opinion. And his last words to her before she died a second time were more than telling as well: "Spottedleaf! Please don't go." Dovewing heard a sob in his mew. "You promised you'd be there to welcome me."Spottedleaf gave a tiny shake of her head. "That was never going to happen, my love. I cannot journey with you anymore. I'm so sorry." Firestar pawed at her. "No! I still need you!"
The Last Hope, page 315 (For some reason I could not find Firestar's quotes anywhere on the web and just wrote them down from my copy of the book) That to me doesn't sound like someone who ever truly gave up on her.

SHA is set in Starclan, so it's not as if we're gonna see it in the main books anyways. I remember someone saying that Spottedleaf probably knowingly risked getting herself perma-offed just so that she don't have to sit and watch FireSand be a thing in Starclan rather than hope feebly for the nonexistant chance of getting with Firestar there. With how selfish she is, I'd believe it.

Spottedleaf was never subtle about her feelings in that regard. I also never thought of Spottedleaf as selfish but rather sad as she seemed to be aware that Firestar would never be with her. I'm just going to repeat myself by saying that the entire SandFireSpotted love triangle was completely unnecessary and should have never happened. It did nothing for their character development and I think we can agree that it was just used for some cheap drama.
