Lily Amara-Wower daughter of liv amara and wendy wower
- - auradon radiator speedway, radiator springs
There was a part of Lily that hoped that even somebody like Chad could find a friend in somebody like Flick, but the rational side of her brain realized that that wasn’t likely. Usually people like that weren’t capable of getting along with people who were just like them - they would grow to resent one another and be enemies, and while rivalries were good so long as they were healthy and still allowed room for an actual friendship to bloom, a rivalry between Chad and Flick didn’t seem like it would be a very healthy, beneficial one. It felt like it would be one that tore them apart. They’d be going at each other like wild animals, tearing apart flesh and causing wounds that would never heal properly. And just because Lily didn’t care much for Chad as a person, and she felt like she would feel the same about Flick if she saw him more than just this one time, didn’t mean she wanted to see either of them get hurt.
She acknowledged that she didn’t like every person out there, but she also didn’t wish anything harmful to befall them. The most she wanted to happen was for people like Chad to realize they were bullies and just plain rude, and luckily it didn’t take something terrible for a realization like that to happen.
Though, these thoughts weren’t important right now. Lily needed to focus on everything else that was going on, like how Skip was taking his leave. ”Seeya around!” She called after him. ”I’ll be around later!” She did enjoy being around Skip, and if there was any time after the race was done then she’d be more than willing to spend some time with him.
Once Skip had left, Lily turned her attention back to Riko, wanting to get in as much time with her before the race officially started. She knew her time was limited, so she was going to take what she could. ”Skip’s a good guy, I’m glad he’s at least got a good attitude about all this.” It would be nice if every competitor was more like Skip, but Lily realized that just wasn’t possible. There were always going to be the bad apples in every group. That’s just how things worked.
But that was enough of that.
All other thoughts were thrown out the window as soon as Riko placed a kiss against Lily’s cheek. The taller of the two immediately flushed red, warmth spreading through her body like a wildfire as she tried to compute what exactly had happened. Even if they had kissed before, and had done so a few times already just today, kisses from Riko always made Lily’s heart speed up and her knees go weak. Even now it was sometimes hard to believe that she had managed to get the attention of the girl she had been fawning over for quite a long time. Somehow she had gotten Riko to like her back, and now here they were, officially dating, and Lily couldn’t think of anything better than that. Her life was perfect if only because she had Riko, and so long as she had Riko by her side, everything was going to be okay.
It took her a moment to gather herself and actually find her voice so that she could reply to what her girlfriend had been saying. She laughed softly, shaking her ever so slightly. ”At least you could tell it was supposed to be Australian,” she replied back. If Flad had one thing going for him with that accent, it was that it was obvious what he was trying to imitate.
While Lily could have stayed there with Riko forever, the moment had to eventually come to an end. A sigh slipped from her lips as Riko spoke her parting words. ”Good luck out there. I’ll be cheering you on.” She would do just as she always had everytime she watched a race. She’d encourage her girlfriend the whole time, wishing her the best of luck and hoping that her cheering and Riko’s skill combined would grant her a win. And then, as always, Lily would be there waiting for Riko to get back from the action of it all with a smile on her face and ready to pull Riko into a hug, regardless on if she had won or not.
Lily stood there a moment longer, watching Riko head toward the exit before turning and making her own way toward the stands where the rest of the bystanders were gathered and seated to watch the upcoming race.

Li Mayleen daughter of mulan & shang
- - The Isle
The Train, Cane/Blackwick
Mayleen didn’t waste much time after Rilla told her to go. She checked in on Cauli, Chloe, and Cassie one last time to make sure they were okay and then left. Keeping mostly to the rooftops of buildings, she avoided most cybugs that could have gotten in the way, and as soon as she could, she was on a train to Blackwick.
Finally about to relax for a moment, Mayleen slouched down onto one of the dirty train seats, her eyes lingering down towards her pocket where the letter was, and for a moment, just a moment, Mayleen’s hand hovered over it before she yanked it away and took a breath. ”No-no, don’t look Mayleen, you’re just the messenger.” Mayleen didn’t usually struggle with things like this when she did jobs for Rilla - some of which did include delivering letters to people - however, this time...this time it touched far closer to home.
Auradon.
Her first home.
They were sending kids here, transfers from their own schools - most likely Auradon Prep - and quite frankly, Mayleen wasn’t sure how to feel about that. A low hum escaped her lightly parted lips as she crinkled her nose and rested her head back against the cushion, puffing out a small sigh.
It almost seemed too good to be true.
A second chance of life on Auradon.
Part of her wanted it, part of Mayleen desperately wanted to go home and see her parents again, she wanted to hug everyone she cared about and go back to being a teenage girl. However another part of her didn’t.
There was a part of her that would never be able to face those people again, knowing all the blood that had stained her swords over her time in Cane. Maybe it had been undeserving at first, however Mayleen had made her mark on the Isle, cementing that out of all the unlucky people who didn’t deserve to be here, she wasn’t one of them.
She deserved every million year second that she was here.
She had made sure of it.
Would Auradon even take her back? Or would they refuse on behalf of the fact that she already had her chance and she blew it, while those that were born here never had the chances she had to start with.
Who would they send? Would she know any of them? Would she be able to face them again if she did?
Mayleen heaved a sigh and looked out the window as the train rolled through the hills between Cane and Blackwick. Wouldn’t be long now, then the coven would also know about the letter.
All she had to do was make it through today and then she’d be alright, all she had to do was take this one small day at a time.
Finally, the train roared to a stop and Mayleen quietly gathered her things, hurrying out of the train and onto the station.
Now all she has to do was figure out where Eli was right now and give him the letter. Hopefully there wouldn’t be any hiccups along the way.

Merlion Clawthorne son of merlin & eda
- - Auradon
Owl House, Boiling Isles
Merlion offered Abril a smile as they started to walk off. School had been tough last year, not having the others with him for part of it had made it almost unbearable, especially as he was without anyone he knew. Yet, even still, Merlion had found a way to make it work, and now, as the coming school year approached, he’d have something to share with the others that he was sure they’d enjoy.
However, as tempting as it was to tell Abril right then and there, Merlion held off, unwilling to ruin the surprise. ”You held your own against Aloysia pretty good,” he complimented with a smile. ”I’m not surprised though, I only date the very best,” he added smugly, as he puffed his chest out and rested a hand across his heart. He missed this while he was away at Auradon last year.
Laughing at his own cheekiness, Merlion linked his and Abril’s arms together and pulled him a little closer as they walked, absentmindedly resting his head against his boyfriend’s. ”You know, I think you’ll adjust to Auradon City alright, theres...ways to make it more bearable, even with the whole magic magic.” The magic ban was a bunch of crap and everyone with a single ounce of magic knew it, however even still, it persisted in places less accepting of magic than that of the Boiling Isles or Camelot.
He suspected that was going to be the biggest hurdle for the others to jump over. ”They have a nice library, I spent so much of my free time in there,” he admitted, thinking back to the library in question.
There still weren’t many magic books, however Merlion had managed to get his hands on a few, and even without magic books, he still had found good books to read. Tons of classic literature.
Merlion wasn’t ashamed to admit that one of his favorites had been the Wind in the Willows.
Mr Toad happened to be extremely relatable for Merlion, and if he wasn’t so strongly connected to owls and lions, he was quite certain his familiar-palisman would’ve been some a toad and he would have named him Mr Toad.
Cleo was a lion though, and he wouldn’t trade her for anything.
Pausing for a moment, Merlion glanced towards Abril, studying him for a few seconds as he tried to read his expression. ”Do you have any questions? About Auradon City? I don’t want you guys going in blind like I did,” he said, eyeing Abril closely.
Merlion had struggled, everything was different and until he found his groove, every day at Auradon Prep was an endless cycle of torture.
For a time there, Merlion was convinced he was in hell.
However clearly, that wasn’t the case, and he had sorted things out, as he was a talented man and not afraid to admit it. However he was still concerned about the others. They didn’t have the finesse that Merlion did, and sooner or later, someone was gonna mess up.
He’d rather prep them as much as possible before that happened.

Hiriko Hamada daughter of hiro hamada & vanellope von schweetz
- - Auradon
Radiator Highway, Radiator Springs
Riko smirked, reaching her gloved hand far up into the air as she began to walk away from Lily. ”I don’t need luck, it’s all skill-“ she boasted with a grin. ”I appreciate it though, see you later!” She called, walking backwards to keep an eye on Lily for a moment longer before she put her focus on the task ahead.
Once Riko said her goodbye to Lily, she made a quick grab for her helmet and headed out towards the track. Her car should already be out there, there was enough time between the kid’s race and this one to move the cars out.
Riko had a collection of cars for races, however this time she was using Carmine, a lean and fast Chevy C8 corvette, and one of Riko’s personal favorites, don’t get her wrong, she loved all her cars, but Carmine was special, Carmine was her victory car, she’d never lost when she was with Carmine, and with any luck, she planned on keeping that streak.
Oh her way out, Riko caught sight of people moving small go karts out of the way, a clear indicator that the kid race had officially ended and it was time for the actual race to begin.
The kids race was mostly for those too young to drive but who still had a strong desire to race, usually they only did one lap - if that - and stuck to things like go karts....or vespas, though as far as Riko was aware, there was only one kid who favored the vespa over anything else.
Speaking of which...on her way out, Riko paused at the sight of a familiar, small boy, someone she saw at almost every race. She smiled, waving a hand up in the air to catch his attention. ”Hey! Aquino!” She called out for the sea monster boy, placing her helmet underneath her arm as it pressed against her hip.
Catching up to the boy and his Vespa, Riko offered him a smile. ”How was the race? Did you win?” She asked as she caught up to him.
She didn’t have too much time to spare, but she had enough to stop by and say hello, plus she liked the kid, he had spirit, he was consistent, and he was fun. Personally, Riko never really saw the point of the whole pre-race before the actual race, not a whole lot of kids were invested in it, people didn’t always show, but she supposed it was still fun to watch - even if she rarely did - and hey, at least she knew one kid who enjoyed it.
Now, Riko wasn’t sure if Aquino would ever graduate to a full fledged racer, especially since you couldn’t enter a vespa in an actual car race, and even if he did switch over to cars, Riko wasn’t too worried about him taking any wins from her, but she could still cheer him on in his own passions.

Mask De Spell son of magica de spell and count dracula duck
- - the isle blackwick
Mask wanted to get away from the soon to be busy train station as fast as he could. He wasn’t even sure as to why he was near this area in the first place, especially when he knew that, soon, the train would arrive and a flood of people would be getting out in a hectic haze of travel. That was the last thing Mask wanted to deal with. He wasn’t a fan of the trains - he understood their purpose and didn’t mind the ease at which he could travel if he absolutely needed convenience - and he wasn’t a fan of large crowds, either. He would much rather keep to himself, stay within the confines of his own family, really. He could much easier put up with Mirror’s antics, and he would rather do what he could to try and make Babs’s life a little easier whether it be take the kids for the day or find somebody else to watch them while he and his sister spent alone time together, but he couldn’t do either of those things while wandering alone near the train station.
He only hoped he could get out of the area quick, before people started to get out.
… Unfortunately, he wasn’t quick enough.
He was far enough away now that the crowd wasn’t too terrible to get through, he was on the outskirts of it really, but he was still close enough to pick up on the details of certain people. Most were just people from Blackwick coming back from wherever they had allowed themselves to go for the day; some were perhaps coming back home from work, or heading to work currently, though Mask found it a little odd that people would have work starting at this time of day. Not that he could say much, he supposed, it wasn’t like he had set hours when it came to his coven duties. He was there when they needed him, always willing to step forward and do what was asked of him at any given time whether it be in the morning, the middle of the day, at night, or even in the middle of the night. It was, as he liked to say, one of the very few good qualities he had. He was devoted to the coven, loyal to it, and it was that loyalty to his gang that stopped him in his tracks when his eyes landed on somebody who was not familiar to him, and very out of place in the Blackwick crowd.
While Mask was friendly and warm to those who lived in Blackwick and were part of the coven, he was standoffish and even somewhat aggressive to those who came from other towns and gangs. He could be described as territorial, and while he didn’t mind that, he wanted it to be known that he wasn’t always as territorial as he was now. Or at least, when it came to the fact that his older sister had once been with somebody from the mafia in Cane, Mask had been okay with that. Lark had made Babs happy. He had watched his sister start to settle into something of a normal life, start her own family, make what she could of what she was given. There had been tremendous struggles at first when Maria was around and still alive, but it had worked out, and it wasn’t like Lark had been a complete stranger to Blackwick and its people - though not by name, Lark had been a Grimhilde. He had technically been the eldest of the Grimhildes, though he had been tossed out and not raised by the Evil Queen. That’s how Lark had found his way into Cane, making a life and a name for himself there. He had been rather successful, climbing his way through the mafia’s ranks. He had been sociable, friendly, but he had clearly known his way through the city and had known how to hide that friendly smile and become somebody’s worst nightmare when the situation arose.
And then, just like that, his mutilated corpse had been found, and when word got out about that to Mask and the others, a lot changed inside Mask. Even if Lark had been a Blackwicker, his death would have been just as damaging, but it had been Lark’s death that somewhat helped Mask understand the unspoken rule that people from two different gangs shouldn’t get involved with one another. He somewhat understood why Maria was so against that as well, though certainly not to the extremes that she had taken it, and now it had turned into an aggression against those outside the coven.
Which was exactly why he stopped in his tracks as the unknown girl approached.
”What business do you have in Blackwick?” Mask called out, voice level with a hint of sharp interrogation laced inside his words. He needed to know why this girl was here, what she was doing, and if she was a threat to anybody Mask cared about.

Abril Blight son of amity and luz
- - auradon owl house, boiling isles
The praise from Merlion only made Abril swell even more with pride. His ego was already inflated enough as it was despite having lost to Aloysia moments before. ”With some practice I’m sure I can meet her on her level. I mean, you just said it yourself, I did fairly well.” He shot Merlion a somewhat smug look, but he did reign it in some. For all his flaws, Abril was aware he did have a prideful streak. Perhaps he wasn’t aware of just how prideful he could be at times, but right now he didn’t want to let anything become too much, not when this was the first real interaction he had with his boyfriend in a long while.
Being with Merlion again felt nice. Abril had missed the blue haired boy greatly, but he had filled that gap with studying and keeping himself busy. But now that he was actually back with Merlion he was able to understand just how hollow he had felt without his boyfriend nearby. For his entire life Merlion had always been there, or at least close enough that if he wanted to spend time with him it wouldn’t take long to find him and pull him into whatever Abril wanted to do that day. Him being away had left Abril bored on many occasions. Without him being there the world was plain and boring, and Abril was just now noticing the full force of his own loneliness. He had other friends and family around while Merlion was gone, but nobody could fix the loneliness that had grown inside him ever since Merlion had gone to Auradon.
So easily did he sink into Merlion’s embrace, falling gently into his touch. Abril couldn’t help but smile fondly when Merlion rested his head against his shoulder. ”Not having magic will be hard, but I’m prepared. I can take up fencing lessons, hone this newfound skill of mine and beat Aloysia at her own game in a few months.” That smile returned to the cocky one from earlier only briefly until a library was brought up.
”A library?” He questioned before quickly adding, ”I mean, I knew they’d have one, but…” Abril paused in his words, mulling over where exactly he wanted to take this part of the conversation. He knew that Merlion was well aware of how he felt about libraries. They were like a second home to Abril. Libraries were practically a second home to him. As a kid he loved it when his parents would take him - which had been often, practically anytime he had asked to go, and even sometimes he didn’t have to ask, his parents just decided to go - and that love never faded away as he grew older. Even now as a teenager a library was one of his favorite places to be. ”You’ll have to take me there.” Regardless on if there were magic books or not, Abril wanted to see what the Auradon library had to offer; he would read just about anything, and he was curious to see what they had that maybe the Boiling Isles didn’t and vice versa.
Questions, right, Abril had those. This was where he needed to be smart about this move and ask Merlion for tips on how to survive without magic and what the Auradon culture was like, but instead he found himself sliding into a totally different genre of questions. These were the questions of a concerned friend, a worried boyfriend. ”How was it for you? Were you okay? Scared? I mean, I’m sure you did great, and clearly you survived and everything, but… How are you doing? I’ve been meaning to ask sooner, and I’m sorry that I haven’t until just now, it’s just that a lot is happening and, well, you know.” Abril gave a sigh as he caught his breath from his onslaught of words before taking his free hand to run up through his hair to ground himself and give himself a moment of a break. ”I just want to know if you’re okay.” That’s what he wanted to know in the long run. Maybe Merlion was okay right now, but what about before he had adjusted, when he had first gotten to Auradon? Perhaps there were still some lingering darkness there that needed some light shed upon it, and if Abril could do that for Merlion, then he would. It had been far too long since he was able to check in on his boyfriend, and now that he had the chance, he wanted to make sure that Merlion was sound of mind and doing okay.

Aquino Paguro-Scorfano son of luca and alberto
- - auradon radiator speedway, radiator springs Races were always so much fun, and no matter what the outcome was, Aquino always ended with a smile on his face and the rush of adrenaline coursing through his entire body. He didn’t really care much about winning, though if he ever did it was always a plus, what he really cared about was getting to go around the track on his vespa, letting the wind whip by and the sound of the crowd cheering to keep him going. It was always exciting, and Aquino couldn’t dream of doing anything else but racing. It was all he ever wanted to do, and getting to do it, even in the little leagues, was more than enough for him. Even if his portion of the race was over with, Aquino still had a wide smile on his face as he ran along with his stuff to put it away and up in time to head back and watch the big race of the day. It wasn’t long for his attention to be diverted once he heard somebody call out to him.The young boy stopped, blinking in mild confusion as he looked around for the source of the voice. The voice was familiar, somebody he knew…It didn’t take him long to find out who it was coming from, and as soon as he did, the smile on his face only grew larger. ”Riko, hi!” Aquino gave a little hop of excitement as he rushed forward to meet Riko halfway. Even if he only ever saw her at races, Aquino really enjoyed her company, plus, he looked up to her, thought she was really cool and an amazing racer. He’d be like her one day, speeding around the track as an official racer instead of just a juvenile. He doubted he’d ever beat any records or be as cool as Riko was, but he could still try, though having fun was the most important part of racing to him. ”It was amazing!” He responded with another bounce on the balls of his feet. ”Did you see me out there? I did pretty good, huh?” He asked, eyes wide as he looked up at Riko. ”I’ll be able to enter the actual races soon. I’ll get to race against you!” Aquino realized that vespas weren’t allowed in the actual races, but he wasn’t worried about that. He was sure that rule could be changed, especially since he was a safe driver. He wore all his protective gear, and if anything seemed at all wrong with his vespa he had it checked out to make sure it was safe to drive. That was what they did with race cars, so if he followed those rules, his own vehicle of choice should be accepted, right? That’s what he was counting on, especially since he didn’t plan on retiring from his racing career anytime soon. He wasn’t even an adult yet, so there was no way he could put up his helmet and call it an end to racing. He’d be a professional yet, and when that day came, Aquino and his vespa were both going to be ready.

Li Mayleen daughter of mulan & shang
- - The Isle
Ghoul Station, Blackwick
Once the train came to a stop, Mayleen shook herself from her thoughts, and quietly slipped the letter back into her pocket. Quickly glancing around her, she surveyed the others leaving and boarding the train for a moment or so before taking her first step out and into Blackwick.
Now, Mayleen had been to Blackwick before, however as she had arrived in Roguegulf and stationed herself in Cane, Blackwick was easily the city she visited the least. Typically she only came here when Rilla requested it or her, and because of that, she was horribly unfamiliar with the terrain.
Already more tense than usual, Mayleen didn’t make it far before someone noticed her arrival. Someone who clearly knew right off the bat that she didn’t belong here.
Mayleen swerved on the heels of her feet until she came face to face with a man that practically reeked “magic” aesthetic without even trying...or maybe he tried a lot, Mayleen didn’t know, but what she did know was that if anyone belonged in Blackwick, it was him.
She tried to place him, however quickly decided she didn’t know who he was. It only made sense, Mayleen knew very few residents of Blackwick, with most of them being the top league people, like the Grimhildes or other High Council members...or Xinyi.
Mayleen didn’t know the other girl well, however by now she was familiar with all of her mother’s enemies, and their children.
Min had been easy, they had bonded over a mutual hatred for the Matchmaker. By now she had almost taken him under her wing as some weird, poetic younger brother figure.
Hai kept his distance from his father and lived all the way in Roguegulf, content to live his life away from the drama of the Yu family.
Eliza was a child, and a Grimhilde, and quite frankly, Mayleen didn’t know her well, but she knew she liked her spunk.
Shi was...Shi was a different story.
Still, no matter how bad things were with Shi, at least Mayleen had Rilla to fall back on. Shi couldn’t touch her so long as Rilla had her back.
Xinyi was different.
The other girl had been hostile to her from the beginning, and though nothing had ever happened, Mayleen knew to avoid her in Blackwick, and to avoid Blackwick in general because of her.
Despite what it may seem like, Mayleen wasn’t here for a fight.
Which now, she would have to explain to this man here.
Offering a polite smile, Mayleen stepped up to him and extended an arm out for a handshake. ”Straight to the point, I like that,” she complimented with a subtle nod of her head. ”I am Li Mayleen, I’m here to discuss something of importance with the High Priest,” she explained, a slight bitter taste hovering in the back of her mouth.
Usually, she considered it rude to get straight to the point of business, however, based off of how he reacted to her simply being there, she figured that perhaps: business was the way to go in this case.

Merlion Clawthorne son of merlin & eda
- - Auradon
Owl House, Boiling Isles
Some would find Abril’s arrogance to be annoying.
Merlion was not one of those people.
Instead a bemused smile stretched across his face as he endearingly listened to Abril go on about his skills. His confidence was one of the many qualities that Merlion found to be quite attractive on him. Confidence was an important key to play in any situation, and Abril had that in tons.
”Don’t worry about the whole ‘no magic’ thing too much,” Merlion interrupted lightly, quickly noticing how Abril put some focus onto that. Of course it would be a change but...there were ways to cope. ”Ive found some...loopholes, to help with that,” he explained with a gentle, yet nonetheless smug smirk, wrapping an arm around Abril’s shoulder.
“Loopholes” was putting it loosely.
Part of Merlion wanted to share his secrets with Abril right then and there, to ease his worries about the lack of magic allowed in Auradon City and all the ways Merlion had found loopholes or escapes from the idiotic rule that crude so called “ruler” had put in place.
Merlion knew, that as a citizen of Auradon, he was supposed to love King Adam, however he could never admire a leader who cowered at the thought of magic and ignored what it could do and how it could help.
For crying out loud, he wouldn’t even be where he was at all without magic.
The Fairy Godmother was the one with the power to her steps.
Merlion half wondered how quickly Adam’s empire would fall if he didn’t have Fairy Godmother at his right hand.
Still, if there was something Merlion didn’t quite want to focus on right now, it was Adam. He would much rather focus on his boyfriend instead.
Smiling, Merlion lightly booped Abril’s nose. ”Oh I’m definitely taking you to the library, it’ll be one of the first places we go, and we’ll stay there until we get kicked out,” he confirmed with a hearty laugh.
He had already been kicked out a couple times, for trying to stay later than allowed, however he somehow always found his way back inside, and now with the chance to take Abril and everyone else there as well, he knew it would be twice as fun to hide behind the bookshelves and stay late reading a good book about magic he wasn’t supposed to learn.
Then suddenly the questions turned to him and Merlion paused, slowing his steps slightly as he looked away.
How was it for him?
Merlion frowned, remembering exactly how scared he had felt, how alone and helpless he had been.
Even now, even with his little “club” it wasn’t like he had formed many true friends. They still somewhat saw him as an outsider from the backwater Camelot and Boiling Isles territory. “Oh those poor technology fearing savages, don’t they need our help?”
They treated him as if he was from someplace terrible and backwards, like...like the Isle, they didn’t know how good it was here, how much better and free it was here.
One day, Merlion would teach them all how much better it was here than there.
Finally, he shrugged. ”I guess it was hard at first, but I adjusted well enough and now?” He puffed out his chest proudly. ”Now, I’m thriving,” he declared.
“Thriving” might’ve been a slight stretch, but that was okay, he could stretch the truth a little here.

Hiriko Hamada daughter of hiro hamada & vanellope von schweetz
- - Auradon
Radiator Speedway, Radiator Springs
Riko smiled as she looked down at Aquino. She remembered when she was still so young and hopeful, convinced she’d be the best racer of all time...she was right of course, but still, fond memories.
”That’s right, one day you’ll be old enough to race against me and you might just win,” she told him and ruffled his hair like she often did to Hikaru and Hoshi. ”Alright, I gotta go, but I’ll talk to you later, after I win,” she told him, winking at him with a pair of finger guns as she started to leave.
She liked the kid, maybe she should try to get him and Hikaru and Hoshi to become friends. They definitely needed it, neither of them had the same kind of support system that Riko had, none of them had the type of friend group that she did and ever since...ever since Vien, the twins seemed to only further isolate themselves from everyone else.
They could use Aquino’s sunshiny spirit in their lives.
However that was a thought for another time, she had a race to win.
Hurrying out onto the track, Riko was quickly engulfed by the loud noises and bright lights waiting for her on the other side.
She blinked a few times until her eyes adjusted and quickly turned to face the thousands of fans cheering. She waved towards the crowds all the way to her car.
Beside her was Flick.
”Hey ‘Aussie’,” she greeted mockingly, glancing over towards him as she placed her helmet over her head. ”They really stuck you up here by the big leagues for this first race? Well, now I’ll be disappointed when you lose,” she teased.
Flick laughed. ”I see you enjoy your trash talk,” he joked right along with her, that accent from earlier seemingly “gone” now that they were on the track. ”We’ll see how well you like the trash when you’re thrown away in it,” he commented, placing his own helmet on his head and sitting down into his car before Riko could get another word in.
She frowned and rolled her eyes, sliding into her own car as she prepped herself for the race. ”Oi that guy’s head gets bigger every time I see him...” she grumbled under her breath as she got everything ready.
Then, just like that, the race had begun.
[Hi, I’m skipping over the actual race because I feel like that’ll take too long, so yadayadayada, they’re on their final lap now]
As Riko clung to the steering wheel for the final lap, her heart raced in her chest, this race had been close. Flick had proven himself to be a worthy opponent and for a majority of the time, had kept neck and neck with her. Riko had had to tune everything else out, or else she surely would’ve gotten annoyed at the crowds cheering for their new favorite underdog,
But this underdog, wasn’t about to win.
Riko wasn’t worrying about Chad, or Skip, or even Lightning, right now, the only people on this track that mattered were herself and Flick.
She risked a short glance towards her left where Flick’s car was quickly catching up to her.
Riko’s heart pounded in her chest as she pushed forward, pressing as hard onto the gas pedal as she possibly could.
Flick was gaining.
Riko pressed harder, pushing her own body forward with the car. She doubted it would help, but it kept her focused.
The finish line was in her sights, it wouldn’t be long now.
She just had to push a little harder...
Then, all of a sudden, Riko heard the sound she feared most.
The sound of her tire popping.
Instantly her car began to swerve and she had to lift her foot up from the gas to slam onto the brake, gripping so tightly onto the steering wheel that her nails began to dig into it.
Her car slowed.
Flick passed her.
And just as she began to get control of her own car back, she saw it.
Flick passed the finish line.
Riko cursed under her breath and reached for the gas pedal again. It was risky, but if she tried she could still come in second-
Lighting zoomed passed her, quickly claiming second as her own.
This was fine, Riko could still claim third-
Chad’s car passed her in a blue, and she swore she could hear his imp like laugh taunting her as he paused.
Then, to add salt to the freshly cut wound, Skip passed her as well.
Car after car passed her, Riko could do nothing but watch and try to pass the finish line, and finally she did.
She was like, 18th or something like that, but she passed.
Still, as she got out of her car and watched as the crowds cheered Flick’s name, Riko’s skin began to crawl.
— — —
A little while later, after handing Rudy over to Gi for a check up, Riko waited in her trailer for Lily.
She wasn’t really in the mood to deal with anyone else, but she wanted Lily.
Having sent her a text to meet her in the trailer, now all Riko could do was wait and quietly stew to herself over her loss.
It was bad enough that she hadn’t won, but to have failed so astronomically stung far more than Riko wanted to admit.
If she went out there now, she’d have to face all the taunting and teasing and everything that came with it, and Riko just wasn’t entire sure she was ready for that right now.

Mask De Spell son of magica de spell and count dracula duck
- - the isle blackwick
Mask made no moves in returning the girl's handshake. He kept both arms neatly against his body, moving them only to cross against his chest as he continued to eye the Cane girl suspiciously. Even if he wasn't on the defensive, he probably would have still passed on shaking the girl's hand - who knew what sort of germs she might be carrying. For all he knew she could have some kind of cybug disease on her, and Mask wasn't too keen on contracting that or spreading it to anybody else within Blackwick's borders. He had a young niece and nephew, and he wasn't about to bring something back to them and get them sick.
"And what exactly do you have to discuss? In case you aren't aware, Elijah Grimhilde is a very busy man, he doesn't have time for nonsense." Mask kept his tone mostly neutral, but there was the faintest undertone of a bite there. A warning, perhaps. He didn't know of this Mayleen girl, her name not ringing any bells within his mind. He had nothing to base her on, had no idea if she was somebody who was known for sticking their noses into places it doesn't belong or not, and the last thing Mask wanted to do was bring somebody to Eli who was only going to waste his time. As Mask had just said, Eli was a busy man. He had an endless supply of tasks that needed to be seen to, Mask was sure the high priest had no time to spare on anything that wasn't actually important. If whatever Mayleen had to say was truly important, wouldn't Rilla have sent somebody more prominent, somebody that even Mask would know? Perhaps Rilla was too busy to take a trip over to Blackwick, but couldn't she have asked Cauli to deliver the message? All of this was just suspicious to Mask, and he wasn't going to let Mayleen step any further into Blackwick until he knew for sure what she had was actually of importance.
There was no need for real aggression, Mask knew that. The mafia and coven were not enemies with one another, but that didn't mean trouble couldn't spark. If Mayleen was trying to be an ember of trouble, then Mask was going to be the one to snuff it out. He didn't want trouble between his gang and the Cane gang. He saw no reason for there to be conflict. He had too much on the line for there to be reason for trouble, and he knew his family had enough problems as it was, adding high tension with the mafia would only make things worse.
He continued to stand there, doing his best to ignore the commotion that was going on around them as people continued to get off and on the train; Mask hoped that the crowds would soon die down once the train departed, leaving only a handful of people left until the train came back around again, but surely this interaction would have come to an end by then.
Mask shifted his stance. He turned to side glance over at Mayleen, arms still crossed, and an emotionless expression still covering his visage. The trip from Cane to Blackwick wasn't too terribly long, but depending on where Mayleen had started her journey, it still would have been hours of travel, and a trip that long wasn't cheap. Mask wondered if whatever she had to say actually was important, important enough for her to drop whatever money she had on a ticket and waste whatever time she had on a trip, but then again, Mask was aware that idiots existed - after all, he had to deal with some almost daily. "It would be foolish for you to have made this trip for nothing," he spoke up. "For your sake I do hope it's actually important." Again, his words were mostly void of emotion save for the slightest note of sharpness, a vague threat to Mayleen telling her that this better not be a waste of time for anybody who ended up getting involved with this.

Abril Blight son of amity and luz
- - auradon owl house, boiling isles
If anybody would be able to find loopholes into this whole 'no magic on Auradon' thing, it would be Merlion. He could be a little slippery weasel at times, and sure, it was that streak of getting into things that he shouldn't that now had all of them in this mess, but Abril still couldn't help but find that an endearing part of Merlion. Just so long as he knew to reign it in a bit while they were all on Auradon, and so long as he didn't end up getting Abril into trouble, then everything would be fine. Though it seemed like this loophole wasn't that risky of one, considering Merlion had already survived the mainland of Auradon thus far, and had been trusted enough to go back home for a bit; Abril wasn't one to step out of bounds all that much, but if these loopholes were harmless enough, then perhaps he'd be willing to give them a try. "You'll have to fill me in on these loopholes of yours," Abril responded, leaning into his boyfriend's touch as Merlion wrapped an arm around his shoulder. It was a simple touch, but Abril just couldn't help himself from sinking into the feeling.
... Had he been a bit touch starved while Merlion had been gone? Maybe, but he wasn't going to outright admit to that right here and now.
Knowing that right now wasn't the time to get handsy, Abril jumped right back into the conversation, laughing at the idea of him and Merlion staying in the library for so long that they were kicked out. That was the kind of trouble Abril could sign up for - studying for so long that even authority figures was tired of him. "It's a date." That honestly did sound like a great date idea - go to the library and stay way after closing.
Soon enough the conversation about libraries and dates came to an end. The air was hushed for a moment, a silence hovering as the tone went from playful to serious.
Abril glanced over at Merlion, curious on how he was going to answer the questions. Surely things hadn't been too hard on him or he wouldn't be back in the Boiling Isles right now, but Abril was sure it had taken a lot out of Merlion. Abril's boyfriend was adaptable, resilient, but that didn't mean this whole predicament didn't have its negative effects on him.
"Thriving?" Abril asked, shooting a questioning look toward his boyfriend. A part of him wondered if this was a slight cover up, but then again, as he had already pointed out, Merlion had to have done well enough that they were trusting him to come back to the Boiling Isles if even for just a little bit. That thought alone was reassuring enough to Abril. So he didn't push it any further.
Instead he leaned in closer to Merlion, gently resting his head against the other's shoulder. He stood there for a moment, simply taking in the fact that Merlion was back and that they could be together again. "I'm glad you made it out in one piece. I'm not sure I could make it without you."

Lily Amara-Wower daughter of liv amara and wendy wower
- - auradon radiator speedway, radiator springs
Despite having known Riko for a long time, and despite having been with her for about a year now, Lily still knew next to nothing about cars. Her brain just wasn't wired for all that, and anytime she did try to learn even the basics she would get lost somewhere and just end up even more confused than she had started out being. And all she really knew about racing was that crossing the finish line first was the goal.
The race so far looked to be a close one. Flick had managed to stay neck and neck with Riko the entire time. He was proving himself to be a worthy adversary, and even Lily could feel the tension in the air as people began to wonder if Riko would be surpassed here or if their bets on this newcomer would gain them more rewards than they had originally thought. Lily believed that Riko would still take the win - she was an amazing racer, and not even somebody like Flick could take that away from her.
But, apparently, believing in Riko wasn't enough.
Again, Lily didn't know much about cars or racing, but she was aware that something going wrong with any of the tires could spell disaster.
As soon as Lily realized something was wrong with a tire on Riko's car, the breath caught in her chest.
Her first instinct was to run down there and get Riko before anything worse could happen; she knew something like that could spell disaster not only for Riko's win, but for her overall safety as well. What if her car swerved into somebody else's? What if she ran into the side of the track? She could get hurt, bad, and Lily almost couldn't stop herself from going down there as if she could even do anything about any of this.
Before she had even realized it she had stood up from her seat, hands clasped tightly against her chest, her heart pounding so hard she was sure her entire body was shaking from it. What if something happened to Riko? Was she okay? What was going through her mind right now?
For a long while Lily stood there, shaking, eyes wide, frozen to where she stood. All she could hope for was that Riko would be okay, that nothing beyond a popped tire would happen.
It felt like an eternity, but finally, the race came to an end. Riko had managed to hold just enough control over her car that she didn't crash or wreck, and she had crossed the finish line, though certainly not how she had wanted, Lily knew that much.
It was way too long before Lily was able to even go and see Riko. She had wanted to go down to her girlfriend the moment she noticed something had gone wrong, and the urge had only grown stronger once the race had finished, but it wasn't until Riko had texted her to let her know that she could go down to the trailer that Lily, without missing a beat, practically ran her way over to where Riko would be.
gonna casually assume the trailer door is unlocked
As soon as Lily made it, she opened the door and rushed to Riko, pulling her into a tight hug before jumping back, grabbing her girlfriend's arms to keep some sort of contact, but now being able to look Riko over with a frantic glance. "Oh, Riko, are you alright? I was so worried, I thought something was going to happen to you, I thought you were going to crash, and then you were going to get hurt, and...and..." Lily's throat tightened as a worried sob threatened to expose itself; already her eyes were stinging with the formation of tears as she continued to frantically look Riko over, her mind and heart racing against one another and not leaving any room for any rational thoughts.

Li Mayleen daughter of mulan & shang
- - The Isle
Ghoul Station, Blackwick
Well wasn’t this guy a piece of work.
Mayleen side eyed him, glancing down towards her outstretched hand and then back towards him. It seemed like a common customary practice to shake hands, even on the Isle. Apparently this guy was just rude.
Finally, after a moment, she cleared her throat and clasped her hands behind her back. ”Im here by order of the Don, Don de’Vil has an urgent message for the High Priest, it is extremely important that I relay the message to him,” she explained, a sharp bite to her words that she couldn’t quite shake, no matter how hard she attempted to be professional.
She couldn’t cause more problems here. There was nowhere to go if you messed up on the Isle, and quite frankly, Mayleen was far from comfortable outside of Cane. She had grown accustomed to the large, boisterous city and her place in it, however outside of Cane still felt so alien to her.
It served as another reminder that she was far from her old home.
Quietly, Mayleen’s eyes scanned over the man before her, trying to gauge the best way to handle him. She was confident she could take him in a fight, however fighting the guy that met her at the station seemed like a bad start to a diplomatic meeting with one of the leaders of the Isle.
Sent the wrong message, y’know?
Sighing, Mayleen reluctantly reached into her pocket and pulled out the letter, flicking it in front of the man’s face while keeping it firmly between her fingers. ”I have a letter for him, something too important to wait,” she started, gently tucking the letter back in her pocket. ”The Don would’ve come herself, however she is currently preoccupied with some cybug related issues in Cane, nothing for those in Blackwick to worry about, but still too urgent for her to drop everything and leave to deliver a message,” she finished with a small shrug, trying not to give too much information about the cybug issues in Cane.
She didn’t feel as if an outsider had any right to know the struggles Cane was dealing with right now, especially not a guy that seemed hell bent on getting on her bad side.
”Now, I encourage you to either take me to the High Priest or get out of my way, it’s very important I deliver this to him, and I intend on doing so...” she trailed off, lifting her hand gently up to lightly pat the blades strapped to her back, hoping the guy got the idea that she wasn’t kidding around. ”With, or without you,” she told him, her gaze narrowing as she looked him directly on the eyes. ”So, are we ready to deliver this letter yet?” She inquired, her head tilted innocently to the side.
Now, Mayleen was aware she should be diplomatic, but something told her that wasn’t the kind of language this guy would listen to, and she needed him to listen.

Mask De Spell son of magica de spell and count dracula duck
- - the isle blackwick
Mask had yet to be impressed by whatever this Mayleen character had to say. He wasn’t convinced that he needed to bring her to Eli, but he would admit that he had the thought of bringing her to somebody else who could then properly evaluate the message and decide whether or not it needed to be brought to the high priest’s attention. Perhaps somebody on the High Council would be around, somebody like Jalila or Pouchy. Babs was a choice, and an easy one to find for Mask, but he knew his sister already had enough on her plate as it was, and adding more to that didn’t settle right with him. He was going to leave her out of this, at least for now. Babs didn’t need to be a part of this until it was actually important - if it ever would be important.
He stood there unmoving. ”Hm,” he muttered more to himself than Mayleen. Yes, as it stood right now, he’d take this up with a councilor. From there it would be decided whether or not Eli should get involved. Surely this decision would be enough for the Cane girl, and if not, then, well, Mask had every right to keep her from stepping any further into Blackwick.
Just as he was about to speak up, Mayleen’s voice cut him off. She was a chatty one, wasn’t she?
Interest piqued as she brought out a letter, Mask side-eyed her with a smidge of wonder. ”Hm,” he repeated once more, thoughtful and stoic as he listened to Mayleen, wondering about what the letter entailed. He couldn’t deny a growing sense of curiosity, yet he had no reason to know what was inside. If it truly was important then it was only meant for the eyes of somebody important; however, if it was something useless, something idiotic and unimporatnt like he suspected, then maybe he did have a right to see it and evaluate it himself. If it was useless information then he could take this entire interaction and be done with it. All of this could stop right here and now, and Mayleen could go on her way back to Cane.
But then it seemed as if she had decided Mask was being too difficult - which, truth be told, he was being difficult, but he was being difficult for a reason.
A low rumble came from the coven member. It wasn’t as threatening as what could come out of a true predator based resident, but he was part vampire. ”Your threats are worthless to me. You’re in Blackwick, any attack you make won’t end well for you.” If it came down to a fight, Mask would most certainly lose, he wasn’t a physical attacker, but regardless on if he came out okay or not Mayleen would be caught in the end and dealt with. Something would be done, some sort of punishment doled out by somebody. But despite that, Mask would rather it not escalate to something as physical as blades being drawn and finding flesh to rest in.
Glancing away from her and turning to face his back toward her - another sign of his worry-free attitude about her attacking him - he gestured vaguely for her to follow. ”I’ll take you to somebody, if anything. I make no promises on bringing you to the High Priest, but we’ll find somebody higher in rank than I.” That he was at least willing to do, and then from there actions could be taken accordingly.

Li Mayleen daughter of mulan & shang
- - The Isle
Ghoul Station, Blackwick
A man of many words.
Yet not once had he given her his name.
Still, at least they were making progress, at least he was willing to take her to someone, someone in the coven’s high council who could help her get to Elijah and deliver the letter safely into his hands.
The letter that Mayleen still didn’t entirely know what to think of it.
That didn’t matter now though.
Her opinion on the letter and what it might mean for her personally, didn’t matter, what mattered was getting this letting to Elijah, and letting the leaders of the isle...the non adult ones at least, decide where to go from here.
That’s what mattered.
Lifting her hand away from her swords, Mayleen gave the man a curt nod of her head. ”Thank you,” she told him lightly. Now, Mayleen wasn’t prepared to completely let her guard down. After all, she didn’t know this man, nor did he seem willing to get to know her, and she was well aware this could end up as some sort of trap.
However, a) she assumed he wouldn’t be stupid enough to try and lure her into a trap, and b ) even if he did, Mayleen was confident in her abilities to handle whatever he threw at her.
You didn’t become the certified assassin to a whole mafia of villains for nothing after all.
She earned her rank, she paid for it in blood.
”Who are you taking me to?” Mayleen asked as she studied the man before her, gesturing for him to take the lead. ”If not for Elijah, then who do you deem worthy of my time?” Mayleen asked, unable to stop herself from being a little salty about it all.
She was assuming it would be a council member. Someone like Babette “Babs” de Spell, Jalila Jaouhari, Tamasi Nil, Ixora “Pouchy” Dragonfly, Celestabellebethabelle “Celeste” Caballus, Desdemona “Des” Gothel, or Morrigan “Mo” Grimhilde.
She knew them by name, but nothing else.
Well, that wasn’t entirely true.
She knew that some of them had close ties to the mafia.
Des was dating Rilla, the very don of the mafia, she would be a good choice to take Mayleen to, as she at least knew her somewhat.
Celeste was engaged to be married to Tex, a Slim. Mayleen wasn’t close personal friends with the Slims or anything like that, but she knew of them, after all, they were one of the biggest families in the mafia, and she had hung out with a few of them before, they seemed like fun people.
Mo was the Isle doctor, the main person to help those in pain, which meant the whole Isle knew who she was. Sure there were other people on the Isle trained with medical knowledge, after all, one person couldn’t do everything for the entire Isle, however Mo was the best trained and was always called in for the more serious cases.
And finally, Babs had been engaged to Lark, before his passing.
Mayleen had only known Lark briefly, he had died a couple months after she had come to the Isle, however she knew that Rilla missed him, and that he seemed to be a good guy when he was alive.
Basically, quite a few of the coven’s council members had been close to the mafia in the past.
Which only confused Mayleen more as to what this guy was doing, acting all suspicious of her.
”Also, what should I call you?” Mayleen inquired pointedly, glancing over towards the duck man. ”You haven’t told me your name,” she pointed out. ”Or would you prefer I keep calling you ‘Duck Man’ in my head?”

Mask De Spell son of magica de spell and count dracula duck
- - the isle blackwick
Why did it matter so much to this girl to know who he was taking her to? He had already told her he was taking her to somebody high in rank, why did she need to go and question it even more? He realized this irked him more than it should, probably because he himself had no idea who he was going to take her to just yet. That was something he needed to figure out within a few minutes so he could start heading in the proper direction, but there were quite a few options to pick from even after narrowing the list down. He had already taken Babs off the list. For as easy as it would be to find her given their relationship, Mask wasn't going to busy her with something that could very well be unimportant; his older sister had enough on her plate as it was. Mo was another option he had taken off the list. Mask wasn't aware of any critical patients that the bearilla was tending to at the time, but she was always busy regardless, dealing with scrapes and sores and minor illnesses. Mask wouldn't want to bother her with something as trivial as whatever it was Mayleen had.
With Mo and Babs off the list, that still left a good handful of people. There was Des. She typically wasn't too busy outside of her coven jobs. She also had ties with the mafia as she was dating the gang leader and had been for years. If something serious was going on, then maybe Des would already know about it - then again, if something serious was happening with the mafia that needed the coven's attention and Des was aware, she would have already passed the news along to Eli. That either meant nothing of high importance was going on, or Des just didn't know as of yet. Even still, she was an option that Mask would keep.
Then there was Jalila. As far as Mask knew, her connections to the mafia were little to none, and he felt as if she would understand where he was coming from about not getting Eli involved unless this truly was something major. She wouldn't immediately want to run to the high priest unless it was necessary.
Tamasi would prove a good choice as well. She had a good head on her shoulders, and she would be able to rationally think out what their course of action should be after going over the letter. She'd make a good judgement, and Mask always appreciated a well thought out plan.
Another possible candidate was Celeste. She had an...interesting, to say the least, way of looking at things, and whatever solution she'd come up with would be unique; however, she was currently pregnant, and Mask had no idea if she'd even be up for anything business related at the moment. Maybe he should toss her out of the candidate pool.
Then there was Pouchy. She was soft and understanding. Out of all the options she would be the best at soothing any annoyance Mayleen had at the moment since Mask was sure she had some pent up. Taking this mafia member to her would be a good choice as well.
Going through the options, Mask decided on Des, Jalila, Tamasi, or Pouchy. Out of those four, Des was the only one with Mafia ties, and that could help ease Mayleen's edge. She'd maybe be less willing to fight if she was around somebody who could be trusted with Cane happenings. Perhaps Des was his best option here.
Alright, it was decided. Mask was going with Des.
"Don't worry, I'm taking you to somebody you know," he responded tartly to her question, shooting her a quick side eye. He didn't see why she needed to know. If she were patient then the answer would eventually be given to her. "Call me whatever you like," he then replied to her asking about his name. That shouldn't matter to her, either. If this was the other way around and he was in Cane territory, then his response would have been different, but Mayleen was in Blackwick, Mask didn't have to do anything she asked of him if he didn't feel like it, and quite frankly, he didn't feel like giving his name out to her at the moment.
As he responded shortly to her inquiries, he kept an eye out for any nearby horse-drawn carriages with drivers willing to give the two a ride. Sure, they could walk to where Des lived, but finding a ride there would save them a considerable amount of time, and the less time Mask had to deal with Mayleen, then all the better for him.

Li Mayleen daughter of mulan & shang
- - The Isle
Somewhere in Blackwick
Right off the bat, Mayleen could tell this was going to be a “fun” trip. The man who had chosen to remain nameless, so Mayleen had decided to call him Duck Boy, purely from the fact that there was something about him that made her think of a duck. Most animal people were like that. Even though they were fully human and looked to be human in appearance, there was always something animalistic about them, something you couldn’t quite see but something you could sense, and after spending so much time around various animal people, Mayleen liked to think she had gotten pretty good at figuring them out.
For instance, she could tell a dragon a mile away.
She had Nianzu, Mieu, and Sprinkles to thank for that.
Same way she has gotten pretty good at telling if someone was a horse, and she naturally had Song to thank for that one.
Mayleen wasn’t an animal person, she was just human - though she liked to think that if she had been born an animal person, she would’ve been a cool little lizard - however most of her closest friends were animals.
Including the ones that she had made here, on the Isle.
Like Roe and a majority of the de Vils.
Which was why, despite the fact that Ducky Momo here had never explicitly said he was a duck, she was pretty sure that’s what he was.
He gave off duck vibes.
”Alright then, Duckminster, lead the way,” she started and gestured for the man to start them off on their journey. ”You are a duck, right? You give me duck vibes, kind of like these ducks I used to know from school, I heard rumors they started up some sort of early morning fight club, but I was never close enough to them to find out if that was true.” And a darn shame that was too, Mayleen would’ve thrived in fight club.
...Perhaps a little too well.
After all, thats why she was here, wasn’t it? Because she was nothing but a delinquent, a troubled youth that couldn’t be saved, not even from the merciful land of Auradon.
This was where she belonged now.
Among the traitors and thieves of the world.
But...
She hesitated for a moment, padding her pocket to feel for the letter.
Perhaps that was all about to change.
And if change was what was about to happen, Mayleen could more than endure a walk or a trip with the most prickly duck man she had ever had the displeasure of meeting before, in her entire life.
As she was lost in her thoughts, Mayleen didn’t realize as a horse drawn carriage pulled up beside them. A taxi.
Cane used carriages as well, though they were far less common than they were in Blackwick.
”Im assuming this is our ride,” she commented as she cast a glance towards Duckbert, allowing him to get in before her, quickly following after.
It wouldn’t be long now before the letter was safely delivered and she could return home to Cane to finally collect her thoughts on what all of this might mean, both for herself and for the friends she had made here.

Mask De Spell son of magica de spell and count dracula duck
- - the isle blackwick
Mask clenched his teeth to keep himself from saying anything stupid. He would have really appreciated a silent trip, but this mafia girl just had to go on and talk about ducks and some stupid fight club that consisted of ducks back at her school. Did he look like he cared about ducks and their fighting habits outside of their academics? He really didn’t think he did, and if he did, then he needed to change the look on his face real quick. For a brief second there his expression did change, from one of stoic irritation to that of thinly veiled concern. A fight club in the early morning hours sounded exactly like something his younger sister would get herself into. She was a bit reckless, somewhat daft if you asked Mask, and he was sure she would be thrilled to be invited to a fight club. Afterall, this was the same sister of his that had deeply cut her own arm just to see if shadows would spill out instead of blood. That had been some years ago, but even now Mask could vividly remember the panic he felt upon seeing her arm drenched in scarlet, and how by the time she had been given to Mo her face had grown pale from blood loss.
He shook his head. Now wasn’t the time to think about such an incident. That had been a terrible day for him, and he was glad it was over. But…still. If there was some sort of fight club going on that included ducks, Mask would have to make sure to bring this up with Mirror. He didn’t want her to get hurt just because she thought she was strong enough to take a few punches.
These thoughts at least made it easy for him to ignore whatever Mayleen had to say. While it wouldn’t hurt to tell her he was a duck, he wasn’t about to say something that would allow her to get ideas, since, as it seemed with the way it was, she would find some way to dive even deeper into this whole conversation just by giving confirmation that he was a duck. And he for sure wasn’t going to tell her that his other half was vampire. While vampire wasn’t actually an animal, Mask felt it was still something that Mayleen would find interesting enough to say something about.
Fortunately for the Blackwicker, he was able to place his attention on the carriage that had pulled up beside him. He didn’t even care to check who the driver was before he stepped inside, casting only one quick look over his shoulder to make sure Mayleen was following behind him. Once he had gotten himself situated, he reached into one of his pockets, pulling out a nice amount of coins that would surely be enough to satisfy the driver. Mask had always been fortunate in that he never had to worry about money compared to others on the Isle. he wasn’t well off by any means, and just like anyone he could always do with more, but he had never had to be concerned about how much he did and didn’t have. Mask always made sure to keep enough for himself and his family, and so long as he had that, he didn’t worry about his monetary situation.
”Take us to Desdemona Gothel’s residence, please,” Mask told the driver as he parted with the coins. He didn’t feel the need to get overly specific with directions as most everybody in Blackwick would know where Des lived. She was an important figure in Blackwick, and even more important within the coven. He had also decided to give Mayleen some sense of who she was being taken to despite having not told her directly outright. Besides, maybe if she knew where she was headed then that would stop some questions from being asked, and Mask enjoyed the thought of a ride that was as quiet as possible.

Li Mayleen daughter of mulan & shang
- - The Isle
Gothel House, Blackwick
Mayleen paused, perking her ears at the name.
Desdemona Gothel.
She knew that name.
That was Rilla’s girlfriend.
”Des? You’re taking me to Des?” Mayleen questioned, though it was almost more of a statement. This was good, Mayleen had met Des before, she was one of the few people from both the coven and Blackwick in general that Mayleen had actually met.
Plus, considering the fact she was literally dating the Don of the mafia, Mayleen had a hunch that she could trust Des with this letter, and that Des would bring her to Elijah, or at the very least, that she would promise to deliver the letter to the coven high priest herself.
Mayleen wouldn’t entrust the letter to someone else from the coven, it would be far too easy for them to simply read it themselves or throw it away, or never have it get to Elijah Grimhilde.
But Des was different, Des was practically the middle ground between the mafia and the coven, and if Rilla trusted Des - which Mayleen had on good assurance that she absolutely did - than that was good enough for Mayleen.
She could trust Desdemona Gothel.
Mayleen hurried and got into the carriage, glancing over at the duck man in front of her. ”Nice choice, Ducklord,” she told him as she shifted her position, allowing herself to get comfortable in the carriage. ”Maybe you’re not so bad after all.”
The trip there wasn’t painstakingly long, as Blackwick itself wasn’t quite as large as Cane was, which made it far easier to travel between places, however that didn’t stop the slight unease building up in Mayleen’s nerves as they approached the Gothel residence. She had heard stories about this place before. About the elder siblings to the Gothel sisters that nobody liked to talk about.
Maria Gothel.
Mayleen never met her. She had died before Mayleen had been sent here, however there were stories about her.
The scourge of the isle.
Clearing her throat, Mayleen stood up as soon as the carriage came to stop. ”I’m guessing this is my stop,” she said and stepped outside, pausing once again to look towards her companion. ”You coming with me, or is this just a drop off?” She asked with a light chuckle.
Not that Mayleen would ever admit it out loud, but she was...a little uneasy about this whole thing. This was further into Blackwick than she had ever gone before, and although she knew she could trust Des, she didn’t trust that many other people here in Blackwick, and she couldn’t be for certain that Des was even in there, or if it was someone else waiting for her behind those doors.
Sure, Mayleen knew she could protect herself if worse came to wear, she didn’t doubt her skills. She had seen too much...done too much, to ever do that. However, a part of her would still feel better if her “pal” accompanied her inside.

As usual Mask remained silent. He gave no indication to Mayleen that he was even listening to her. It was all senseless babble to him, and he could tell that there was a part of her that was trying to get him to respond. He was no fool, he knew these games. There were people in the coven that acted much like she did, and by now he had learned how to ignore it and go on. Give them any sort of time and they’d continue on forever, but ignore them and let them get it out of their system and they’d eventually stop. So that’s what he’d do. He’d let the Cane girl get it out of her system, though if she didn’t by the time they made it to Desdemona’s place then at least it wouldn’t be his problem anymore. Fortunately the ride was not a long one. Mask didn’t have to put up with much more pestering. The sight of the Gothel resident was now in view. It stood as a beacon to those in Blackwick, a beacon that warned of death and destruction. The name Gothel brought shivers down the spines of many, especially to those who had lived through the gory reign of Maria Gothel. Mask himself had come out unscatched, but the rest of his family had not been so lucky. Though, he supposed he needed to be grateful that none of his siblings had ended up dead, or even worse, and for that he was lucky. In the long run Maria had not left a strain on his past. He realized that, and he realized that not many others in Blackwick could say the same thing. Mayleen’s voice brought him out of his thoughts. He turned to her, eyeing her curiously. This was bound to be her first time coming here. It was perhaps nerve-wracking to be in the presence of such a well known marker of Blackwick territory, but Mask knew not to feel sorry for the girl. She had come here on her own. This was something she could deal with herself. It wasn’t Mask’s problem, but he also realized that letting her go alone wouldn’t be the best idea. If she tried anything then Des would be powerless to fend for herself. He eyed the Cane resident. ”I’ll see to it that you don’t try anything.” Even he knew it would be asinine of Mayleen to go to Des and attempt an attack. Not only would that put the coven against her, but the mafia as well, and those two forces together would be impossible to run from or even get away from. ”Desdemona will know what to do, I trust her judgment.” She was in a higher position than Mask could ever be for a reason. He knew that Desdemona would be able to come up with the right decision on whether or not this should be taken to Elijah. He was no longer casting judgment on this, rather he was staying for protection, and to witness the decision that the High Council member made. His opinion was no longer needed, not in the presence of somebody with more authority than his own. Mask gestured for Mayleen to follow his lead as he got out of the carriage, thanking the driver for their business. He stood there to wait, making sure the Cane girl followed suit.
