fangbranch - Sorry that I vanished for a while! I've just finished up a few major school projects that were taking up all of my time, but now that they're done, it's smooth sailing for the rest of the semester No other animated series that I'm currently watching, but I do really love The Dragon Prince on Netflix, and I'm waiting for the fourth season to *hopefully* come out soon. I also tried watching Steven Universe for the first time a few weeks ago, but Hulu only has the first four seasons so I couldn't watch past that ^^' It was pretty good though! I see why a lot of people like it. How far into Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon are you? I haven't watched that particular series, but I used to watch some of the older series a couple years ago. So far I like Percy Jackson! I'm especially enjoying Riordan's writing style, Percy's sass really comes through in the writing haha. I also think Percy is my favorite, I just love his personality. That actually sounds really cool! I've never heard of anyone making junk journals before, but it sounds really creative. If you put postcards and letters in it, the ones you've made must have a lot of cool memories to look back on. I'll have to try it sometime!

Fαllσωησsε I bet it feels good to have all that work done! Yay you, you get a gold star! I've seen the first 3 or so episodes of Steven Universe. I thought it's pretty good, Garnet's my favorite. What's the Dragon Prince about? I've heard about it, but haven't watched it. I think I'm on episode 6, season 2. Somewhere around there. If you want to delve back into Pokemon, I highly recommend this series. It takes place in the Alola region, which is a knock off of Hawaii. The character building is great, there's so many people but they all get their spotlight some time or another. What makes this series my absolute favorite of the Pokemon anime is two things; the setting- it's rich and filled with local lore and traditions. And two, Ash's friend group- they each are unique and bring something to the group, and they are all very supportive. Honestly, I could go on Sassy Percy is best Percy. I want to read the sequel series, I'm forgetting what it's called atm, but Percy loses his memories and wakes up at camp, I think? What spoke to me about junk journaling is that it doesn't have to be perfect. The goal is just to sit down and get messy with the glue and paper and tidbits. I love that. I'm gonna watch She-Ra soon, wish me luck! Oooo, if you are looking for some good ol' tv shows then I humbly offer up We Bare Bears, The Amazing World of Gumball, Thundercats Roar, and Sword Art Online. That last one actually has a rating, and it's not fluffy like the other ones are, but I liked the first season of it. Sheesh, I'm chatty this morning

fangbranch - Aw thank you! I'm just glad that first semester is nearly over, hopefully second semester won't be nearly as busy. So, The Dragon Prince! The first three seasons are in Netflix, and they announced over the summer that there will be seven seasons total, which I'm really excited about. The basic premise of the story is that there are five kingdoms of humans on one side of the continent, while several kingdoms of elves live on the other side of a mountain range alongside magical creatures and dragons. The most significant creatures on the elf side that are protected, though, are the Dragon King and Queen. Before the story began, the dragon royalty had an egg, for the first time in like 10,000 years, and that baby dragon was meant to grow up to be the next Dragon King. However, the humans are in conflict with the elves after a band of humans killed the Dragon King and supposedly destroyed the egg, leaving the elves and magical creatures without a Dragon King. Then fastforward like ten years, to one of the human kingdoms, where there are two princes: Ezran and Callum. A group of Moonshadow elves set out to assassinate the king and the heir, Ezran, but the princes learn about it and try to stop them. Among the group of elves is Rayla, who is trying to prove herself by joining the mission. Basically Rayla ends up almost killing the princes, until they discover that the egg of the Dragon Prince was hidden in the palace basement and never actually destroyed at all. So then they set out to bring the Dragon Prince home to his mother and restore peace between the humans and elves. It's honestly an amazing series, and the art style is absolutely beautiful, because it's an awesome mixture of 2D and 3D animation. I would highly recommend it! Oof, sorry I wrote so much ^^' The Pokemon series sounds good! I especially like the idea of Alola being based off of Hawaii, since Hawaii is one of my favoriteplaces. I'll have to watch it sometime! Yep, it's called Heroes of Olympus, I believe. And I remember seeing that in spoilers, it sounds like an interesting plot to read! Junk journaling honestly sounds so relaxing and fun. And probably a great way to recycle old bits of paper, too! I know I have lots of scraps that could be recycled into a junk journal, haha You're gonna love She-Ra! The plot, the characters, the development... it's all amazing. I'm actually considering rewatching it soon, myself. I'll look into those! I recall watching TAWOG several years ago, and I watched one or two episodes of We Bare Bears on Netflix, but I don't remember much about either, haha

Hoo boy I hope you're ready for this long- winded response! It follows siblings Kendra and Seth who are dropped off at their grandparents house while their parents go on a cruise. The grandparents run a nature preserve, or so they think. They have instructions not to leave the yard, and inside the house they cannot snoop around. They are given free reign of the kids room where they are though. Not gonna elaborate here to much because that's a good part of the story. The kids end up snooping (tbh, what kids wouldn't) and they end up drinking some milk. The milk opens their eyes to a world previously unseen, there are suddenly fairies in the yard! The grandparents run a magical preserve called Fablehaven. Home and refuge to creatures of lore- Fairies, pixies, brownies, satyrs, demons, and a myriad of others. My Notes- The series doesn't get worse over time, imo. It gets better as the characters learn and grow. The magic system has so much thought put into it, and it feels like a real thing when you're reading it. What are some of your fantasy recommendations? I too am on the lookout for new and exciting books

fangbranch - Hey, that sounds pretty good! I really like the idea of a preserve for magical creatures, I can imagine that'll cause some interesting adventures. I might pick up the first book next time I'm at the bookstore Also, sorry in advance for the very long response ^^' Ok, so my absolute favorite book series I've ever read is Wings of Fire. (Also about dragons, hehe) There are currently three arcs (five books each), with the 14th book coming out in March. There's also two standalone books and a few novellas. So it's a pretty long series, but it's definitely worth it. The story is set in a dragon world called Pyrrhia, with occasional appearances by humans (which they call scavengers and basically treat as prey). The first arc begins in the midst of a great war between the seven dragon tribes; each tribe has special abilities, and they're each led by a queen. The war began after the queen of one of the tribes, the Sandwings, was murdered by a scavenger, leaving her three daughters to fight amongst themselves for the throne. Each sister gathered an army and built alliances with the other tribes, so that every tribe is against each other. There's a prophecy that says five dragonets (young dragons) born on the brightest night will save the tribes after the war has lasted twenty years, and so a peace organization called the Talons of Peace stole five dragon eggs that were scheduled to hatch on "the brightest night," which would be the first time in hundreds of years when all three moons were full. The dragonets are prophesied to choose the nest Sandwing queen, so the three princesses fighting for the throne want to capture the dragonets and prevent them from deciding the next queen (since they don't want the dragonets choosing someone else). The first book begins from the POV of one of the five dragonets, Clay, who has been living in hiding with the Talons of Peace for six years (since the war has not yet lasted twenty years, the dragonets were not allowed to leave the hiding place until their time came. So they're basically prisoners). The five dragonets in total are Clay, Tsunami, Glory, Starflight, and Sunny. After living with the Talons of Peace their whole life, they hate the idea of being forced into a destiny, and so they decide to escape and find the families they never met. However, all of the dragon queens are searching for the "dragonets of destiny" to capture them and force them to choose the 'right' Sandwing queen, so it's pretty dangerous. Naturally, they get captured by the psychotic Skywing queen as soon as they try to leave, and that leads to a whole chain of events. Imo, it's one of the best fantasy series out there. The writing style is flawless, as it's technically a very dark series with some very serious parts, but is also interspersed with humor and some great one-liners that will make you laugh out loud. The characters themselves are full of depth like I've never seen in other books. Every single character has a unique personality, even the background characters who are only rarely mentioned. There are no flat or static characters, they're all full of personality. Each book is from a different character's perspective, so you're always learning new things about each character and their backstory. And like you said with Fablehaven, it gets better with each book. I personally think that the first book in the series was the worst one (mostly bc I didn't care for that character's POV), but after that it gets exponentially better. My favorite books are the 9th one, Talons of Power, and one of the standalone books, Legends: Darkstalker.

oh yeah, I totally get that. I can't handle too many high-stakes things at a time in my media. I started She-Ra! I LOVE IT! Bo is my favorite, he is so caring and motivational! The art style is so wonderful, and I can tell I'm going to love watching the characters grow and learn. I watched the first two eps, so pls don't spoil anything after It's really interesting to see Adora, because I grew up with the original He-Man and She-Ra. Two very different interpretations of a superhero that are both great. I love that she gets the spotlight. Fyi- Fablehaven gets a bit intense sometimes- but nothing like an adult fantasy

fangbranch - Ahhh I'm so excited for you, you're gonna love the whole series! And yes, Bow is literally the best ^^ Let me know what you think as you continue watching! I'll probably start rewatching She-Ra over the holidays c: And thanks for letting me know about Fablehaven! I'm not too worried, especially considering that Wings of Fire can get very intense and serious at times, just as long as the entire book isn't like that

smellytoeshehe - Welcome to the cool kids club! Don't feel like you need to be super interesting to fit in, we just kinda talk about whatever. I'm Fallow, btw, nice to meet you! c: (Also, is there a specific name/nickname you'd like to go by? I don't want to, like, offend you by just referring to you as "Smelly" lol)

Oh thank you guys for being so sweet! Just call me Smelly, I don’t take offence to it haha. I enjoy playing games and webtoons! Webtoons is a big addiction of mine haha. Shows I’m watching are Helluva Boss and Demon Slayer which was recommended to me.
I saw you guys talking about Wings of Fire and I’ve actually only read the first six books because my library recently removed them (for some reason) so I’m currently finding any other libraries or book stores that sell the books. I enjoy the series a lot! It’s very interesting and while at some points it’s gets cliche, the plot itself is still very enjoyable. AND THE CHARACTERS ARE AMAZING, they’re so cute, funny at times and in the end, fun to read. The world building is very good as well and I would definitely recommend it.
And I don’t know if this holds much relevance to She-ra but I used to watch Catra sneeze in 20 different languages on a daily basis.

fangbranch This is as much as i could narrow it down to but my favourites are Cursed Princess Club (i remember telling you about this in another thread), To Love Your Enemy, Down to Earth, Eleceed, Swimming Lessons for a Mermaid, Omniscient Reader, unOrdinary, City of Blank, Mom I’m Sorry, Your Throne, How to Become a Dragon, I’m the Grim Reaper and Castle Swimmer. Oh Helluva Boss is sorta like a mafia. It’s an adult comedy series you can find on youtube. It’s about a trio of imps and a hellhound who created an assasination company in hell, in which they get clients who also live in hell to kill people on Earth. The animation is incredible for something that’s on youtube, especially since it’s planning to have all it’s episodes on youtube as well. The plot does leave more to be desired though, and the comedy isn’t for everyone. I would recommend it if you want a quick laugh and that’s about it. I still like it though, mainly because I have cheap humor as well.

fangbranch Well I was first drawn to it because of the art style because it’s so beautiful, but I literally say that with any webtoon so that might not be much help. The art style did go through a shift in the story but I didn’t mind it too much, if anything I prefer the newer art style. Well, I really like the relationship and interactions between the two main protagonists Kappa and Siren. They’re both so cute and lovable! I also really like the plot which can basically be boiled down to the idea of expectations, something that I’m sure everyone has had to deal with sometime in their life. I would definitely recommend you to read it whenever you have the time, but you’ll have a lot of catch up on. Yes! I can definitely relate to that feeling of seeing an interesting webtoon, clicking on it and then realising I have to catch up on 300 episodes, haha.

Also, Merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate!
